I think Steve's hair looks awfully shiny and he doesn't appear to have any grey :)

Vincent your coffee method sounds great. French press is also fantastic coffee.....but would you believe I make my coffee in my single-serve backpacking plastic thing on top of my mug, for about 10 years now. It is really excellent with my gluten-fried cheesecake. ;)

Still menstrual and DANG those donuts sound great. Carla - ONE-FOURTH of a donut? the horror.....couldn't do it. I need the whole box right now or nothing at all.....

4) No roots

I can't get past the thought of a chocolate donut...not sure where I'll go from there...probably another chocolate donut...if I could only locate some gluten-free beer locally I might get crazy...and...and... show up late for work or something

OOOOooooo, late for work??? Beer and donuts is gross. Not at the same time, please.

I'm taking care of my roots tomorrow. In fact, tomorrow, my hair will be a completely different color than it is today. Time for a change. I'm fickle when it comes to my hair.

Oh, no, another coffee gadget I don't have!!! I've had an espresso machine since before I ever heard of Starbucks. Mine's a Krup. Is that basically what yours is, or does it make coffee not espresso shots?

Makes coffee. Complete with crema :)

So why are you wanting a french press? Which is better? Am I missing out on something? :P

2) Not tested on animals

I'll never forget when one of my pals introduced me to cowboy coffee...we were on a 5 day trip in the Adirondacks. I had run to take care of some "business", and when i came back he had the coffee brewing I remarked at how great coffee smells in the woods, and he said I could have the first cup. I went about my business(not "business"), and he handed me my mug full of steaming hot Java. I took a big gulp - a nice gulp of coffee grounds. That's no way to start the day! I've got one of those thingys now too!

You're welcome to join me for donuts on Monday(sorry I can't get them sooner). We won't be french pressing the coffee, but I can guarantee there'll be no grounds!

I know the sugar is really bad for me right now .... even a bite might be enough. I usually realize it's only the first bite or two that I genuinely enjoy .... so I'll have some other food waiting so I don't just indulge in the whole thing because I'm hungry.

Dunno, I jsut wanna try one! Its coffee thingy, and I have not tried it, what more realy needs be said?

I love my cold brew system too, but its complelty different... if you never had a cold brewed ice latte, I can cure you of wanting Starbucks poured over ice ones in one sip :D

1) It's Gluten Free!

So you're getting your hair done for your date with the french press? This is starting to sound more like diamonds and pearls to me!

How far are you from Cincinnati? :P I'm going to go buy my donuts today .... Wild Oats carries them. In fact, think I'll go eat lunch, then go over to Wild Oats, and get some almond milk while I'm there so I can let Patti know if it froths .... of course, I NEED to know, too.

Have a nice afternoon, Carla! And don't eat all the donuts on the way home :D I'll be interested to see if you can get the almond milk to froth--I do fine with it and it would be good to have a little variety.

We have a SS coffee maker, too. It's the one by Melitta. I gave it to my husband for Christmas a couple years ago--and he absolutely loves it--since he's the only coffee drinker in the family. My son's girlfriend liked it so much, she asked us for one for Christmas last year.

Steve's hair--very shiny and healthy looking.

My hair--Seriously considering having it cut--short in the back with full sides. Having a hair funk again--need to do something......

I don't like iced coffee. I'd be willing to try, but I really don't like it cold. I drink it hot all summer long. When I'm not drinking hot coffee, I drink hot tea instead.

True, nothing more needs to be said!

No, the donuts are frozen and I have tremendous willpower. I'll have no more than 1/4 of one on Sunday. Not supposed to have any at all!

You're just tired of your hair because it takes so long to grow! If you cut it will you be upset with yourself in a few days???? Don't do it!! Clip up the back for the same look. I wear mine in a clip a lot to get through the bad lengths ... (see avatar!!) Don't chop it off for being in a funk ... think about whether you really want it short or long, then stick with your decision. If you really want it short, that's one thing. If it's just cause you're in a funk, don't do it!

Only 702.2 miles.

It begs the question...(cue Klondike Bar theme) what would you do-ooo-ooo for a gluten-free cholcolate donut?

If you're only going to eat 1/4 of a donut it might not be worth the trip :P

Hmmm, I can get gluten-free donuts down the street, and Nashville is a LOT closer, maybe I'll go see Vincent for a cup of coffee sometime.

I actually had an appt on Tuesday morning, but when I got this eye infection, I cancelled it. Probably a blessing in disguise :D

I just saw this! Actually, even my kids are amazed at how spoiled I am by my hubby!

I'm getting my hair done because that's what I've had to do ever since it got darker after having the kids and hubby no longer liked the color ... he's the one that started me on that! I was perfectly happy with my natural color!

The french press could care less about my hair color.

I think if you polled everyone here you are not alone (puts hands in pockets, hangs his head and kicks the dirt ) I admit it's in my cupboard too. I actually like their breakfast blend with dinner sometimes.

I used to do the "good beans-grind 'em yourself -french press" back in the day. Now I'm just happy to remember to fill the coffee maker and set the timer so I HAVE COFFEE!

I've always (like, the other 2 times) heard it as "as jumpy as a fart on a skillet"...meaning fickle, or restless, indecisive...

It's definitely one of the more colorful expressions in the english language!

Oh, then I'm going to keep intervening to keep Patti from cutting her hair. I'm that way, too. That's why I change the color every couple months. When it was shorter, I changed the style every time!

Cheap coffee means you're drinking it for the caffeine if you can afford better and don't bother with it. If you can't afford better, then it means you're doing the best you can. I am VERY spoiled ... I buy good coffee. But I am too lazy to grind my own, so I do have it ground for me. If I get back into drinking it at home, I might buy a new coffee grinder like a friend of mine has that's much easier than the little one I have.

My coffee might be cheap, but my coffee TABLE is handmade! (toots own horn BEEP-BEEP)

Don't get me wrong I'm not a Folgers guy 24/7 (why do feel the need to defend my coffee here? )

I do treat myself every now and again. We have a Starbucks on campus, but they (the folks actually brewing the coffee) don't know what they are doing. The coffee is undrinkable sludge (I know, consider the source, the "Folgers guy"). I prefer the Green Mountain coffee I can get at the campus convenience store. If I could afford to drink the good stuff all day, every day I'd have a basement full of Kona and you'd all be invited for gluten-free coffee and donuts. (and beer for brunch ;) ) No need to get your hair done for coffee at my house! :P

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
