Ohhhhhhhhh, your post last wk(? 2wks?) of funny things to do included "end every sentence w/ 'in accordance w/ the prophecy' " !!!

It was my fav one of a thoroughly funny post! :)

CarlaB Enthusiast

tom, we might not be as nutty as Susie, but we all make our decisions the same way, by the way we feel at the moment so we're likely to change our mind. I believe men make decisions in a more rational manner so are less likely to change their mind.

Dear lord!!!....'choppy bangs', 'Long eyebrow bangs', 'Fringe bangs' ... bangs, bangs, bangs!!!!.....how about 'hair around face' (insert emoticon with hair)

elye Community Regular

I've always called my falling-on-the-forehead, above-the-eyebrows hair my "fringe". This word is never used to refer to this in North America; we all use "bangs" over here. But I love the sound of "fringe"...and it IS a fringe, for heavens sake:

fringe (frindz) 1. n. an ornamental border // an outer margin.

"Bangs" just sounds so...violent?

I was still carded 1/2 the time @ 35. (Did I say that already?) Then kinda stopped going out. :(

Strangely I also looked *older* as a teen. Was in a union @14! Always was ready to buy the beer, w/ fake ID help, natch. :)

gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! Dingy is never a bore. It's just that, I think I become slightly delirious and more - approachable, maybe? -

with an overcooked and wilted brain. Also maybe more giggly.

Wait. that isn't true. I"m always giggly. Does the baked brain make one GIDDY? :P

WooHoo!! checked off everything on my to do list!

Just collecting up my homework and letting my hair down (which now strongly resembles muppet hair) and heading out for the boat.

From my mom:

The Seamstress

>One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river,

>her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared

>and asked, "My dear child, why are you crying?"

>

>The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and

>that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their

>family.

>

>The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden

>thimble set with pearls.

>

>"Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked

>

>The seamstress replied, "No."

>

>The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver thimble

>ringed with sapphires.

>

>"Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

>

>Again, the seamstress replied, "No."

>

>The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble.

>Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

>

>The seamstress replied, "Yes."

>

>The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all

>three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.

>

>Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband

>along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared

>under the water.

>

>When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, "Why

>are you crying?"

>

>"Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!"

>

>The Lord went down into the water and came up with George

>Clooney.

>

>"Is this your husband?" the Lord asked.

>

>"Yes," cried the seamstress.

>

>The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"

>

>The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord It is a

>misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney, you

>would have come up with Brad Pitt. Then if I said 'no' to him, you

>would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes,' you

>would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and

>would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why

>I said 'yes' to George Clooney.

>

>And so the Lord let her keep him.

So, here goes.

Tom, glad to hear it. I can't believe it's been over a decade! :o

Tom, glad to hear it. I can't believe it's been over a decade! :o

Well, "Marbles", that wasn't entirely true, but it's not like this is the SeriousYak thread!!:P

No one seriously believed I had one word answers did they?

But I *did* mean to answer this yesterday!! Also earlier today, but no time to find it! :o

1st off, it's changed already. Didn't I mention that on my last SJ trip I had 2 dates? Mei both times. We had dated ~8-9 yrs ago. She was the only one w/ same ph #!! :D

I *had* to have mentioned how ridiculous it was to be locked out the apt. complex while she's supposed to be on her way!!

Hadn't eaten & all my food's up there. Hadn't showered or even had a chance for simple splash on face. Propped open one door, but ph reception so bad I can't still see door and make/recv calls. Case of Redbridge (SJ boys wanted some of their own) left upstairs at Apt door, then can't even get back up to IT before Mei shows.

It's after 2 and I've been up since 6 but haven't eaten or anything and so we end up starting a  non-date date w/ my Redbridge in her trunk, going to WhF so I can eat!!!!!

4 hrs later I realized that was not a non-date!

We went out the following night too.

But she's not girlfriend material for NoSoyBoy.

(Too many words? Which are better left untyped?)

She wasn't a girlfriend 8-9yrs ago really anyway. Just off & on dating.

Last girlfriend was '96 and we broke up after Pete died & celiac's depression wouldn't let go.

Did see her and some others occasionally thru '02 or '03. Once celiac's full brunt got on a roll, I didn't see anyone.

So yeah - it's pretty dang ridiculous.

And I don't even *want* to meet anyone in Phx!! Well, maybe that needs to be amended to "anyone I REALLY like". Hehe ;)

OMG with the way I get carried away w/ everything these days, some luc . . . . . . .is there a delicate way to finish this sentence?

<just did>

:lol::lol:

Susie's new dating adventure has me looking more favorably on my chances of finding someone w/ enough of the same interests etc.

Now who do I know in SJ w/ dogs?? <a mild layer of canine stench *works* for some ppl!>

(My gawwwwd it was so easy when on stage w/ sax somewhere every week!! :P )

CarlaB Enthusiast

Now, if you and Mei end up together, you will have the romantic story that it was because she was the only one with the same phone number as last time you were there.

Oh, and after posting a couple times on my phone, yes, I can understand having one word answers! This is because I can type very, very fast!

Words better left untyped? "She's not girlfriend material" :o , how cold! :o:o;)

And need I say, "Uh, oh"? When Susie said she didn't want to meet anyone, look what happened!

Mtndog Collaborator
Tom, glad to hear it. I can't believe it's been over a decade! :o

Tom- Practice on those AZ girls and then when you find one you REALLY like, lay on the soy free charm :D:wub:

Tom- Practice on those AZ girls and then when you find one you REALLY like, lay on the soy free charm :D:wub:

Practice what exactly?

You mean talking the talk? Being a cunning linguist?

:P

I'm all over that!!

Now, if you and Mei end up together, . . . .

. . . . .

Words better left untyped? "She's not girlfriend material" :o , how cold! :o:o;)

Nah, she was fine for then, but not now. Oy I'm actually thinking she could be a good friend.

"How Cold!"?? No no no I'm not saying it to HER, just here!

It's not like she'll ever end up in this forum AND crack the code that reveals my acct name!!!

And need I say, "Uh, oh"? When Susie said she didn't want to meet anyone, look what happened!

Nyet!!!!!!!

I didn't want to meet anyone for YEARS and look what didn't happen, EmptyJar Spice!! (nah I like "Marbles" better  )

No way am I going to get involved HERE while moving THERE!!

Bite your tongue! :P <ow!>

Hi all !! Did anyone ever get prescribed methylprednisone steroids for inflammation of stomach and intestines?  Did it work ??  Thank you !!
    • cristiana
Hi Colleen Are you supplementing B12/having injections? I have learned recently that sometimes when you start addressing a B12 deficiency, it can temporarily make your symptoms worse.  But it is important not to stop the treatment.  Regarding your problems with anxiety, again that is another symptom of a B12 deficiency.   I didn't know what anxiety was until it hit me like a train several months before gastrointestinal issues began, so I can certainly relate.   Two books which helped me hugely were At Last A Life by Paul David (there is a website you can look up) and The Depression Cure: The Six-Step Programme to Beat Depression Without Drugs by Dr Steve Llardi.  Although his book is aimed at people who have depression, following the principals he sets out was so helpful in lessening my anxiety.  Llardi suggests we need to focus on getting enough: - physical exercise - omega-3 fatty acids - natural sunlight exposure - restorative sleep - social connectedness - meaningful, engaging activity   ... and we should feel a lot better. That is not to stay you must stop taking medication for depression or anxiety if you have been prescribed it, but adopting the changes Dr Llardi sets out in the book should really help. Can I just ask two more questions:  1) you say that you are B12 deficient, did they test your iron levels too?  If not, you really ought to be checked for deficiency and, 2) did they check your thyroid function, as an overactive thyroid can be cause rapid heartbeat and a lot of coeliacs have thyroid issues? Hello still dancing around my celiac disease and not getting medically backed up considering Ive been glutenfree since 1994.All my ailments are the core issue of my ghost disease aka celiac disease. Im angery because the "celiac specialist " basically lightly dismissed me.Im extremely angery and fighting for a new primary care physician which is hard to do in Northern Cali.So currently without and looking.Im angery that its lightly taken when its extremely serious to the one who has it.My only evidence is a brochure back in the days when I got news letters when I lived at my parents. It was published in 1998.I was diagnosed before any foods eliminated from my diet. Angery doctors don't take seriously when Im clearly speaking.I did write to the medicine of congress and have case number.

I totally get this. It's absolutely a grieving process, and it's okay to feel gutted about the loss of those simple joys, especially at 18. Your feelings are completely valid—it's not about being ungrateful for your amazing boyfriend, it's about mourning the life you thought you'd have. That "tortured by the smell" feeling is so real. It does get easier, I promise, but it's okay to sit in the sadness and just vent about how much it stings right now. Thanks for sharing that. Celiac.com has published a book on our site by Jean Duane PhD called Gluten-Centric Culture, which covers many of the social aspects of having celiac disease: This chapter in particular covers issues around eating with family and others - Gluten-Centric Culture: Chapter 5 - Grabbing A Bite Together:
