GAH!!! It was a cartoon!! sorry - can't watch it - - - :ph34r:hate cartoons... but for you, our fearless teenager in the middle of adult juvenile WACKINESS, I will try.

You don't have too, but it's HILARIOUS. And i'm really not fearless. I'm afraid of cockaroaches and getting caught reading in the middle of school. And... uh... apologizing. It's really freaky, but i'm afraid of apologizing face-to-face to ANYONE. No, really. I've been trying to apoligize to this guy for a year now. :embarrased: I've known him since sixth grade...

hmmmmm......afraid of apologizing. Are you afraid, perhaps, it will make you appear weak? because....it won't. :) I think one of the greatest human traits is to admit wrong.....and it is a courageous thing to do, not weak....er, in case that's what you're thinking.

here's a silly!

A sweet grandmother telephoned St Joseph Hospital. She timidly asked,"Is

It possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said "I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and

Room number?"

The grandmother in her weak tremulous voice said, "Norma Findlay, Room

302."

The Operator replied, "Let me place you on hold while I check with her

Nurse." After a few minutes the Operator returned to the phone, "Oh, good

News. Her nurse has told me that Norma is doing very well. Her blood

Pressure is fine; her blood work just came back as normal and her

Physician,

Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged Tuesday."

The Grandmother said, "Thank you. That's wonderful! I was so worried!

God bless you for the good news."

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?"

The Grandmother said, "No, I'm Norma Findlay in 302. No one tells me poop."

Okay...Judy needs a part in our parade, guys. Judy, can you twirl your cane like a baton? We've got this Yeti, see, and...then, Chuck Norris is with Danny, Wegman's CEO, in our Care Bears Float, and some retrofitted machine-guns, and Charlton Heston T-bagging MJ......

So, a cane-twirler is obviously needed. Unless that would be a bit silly. We certainly wouldn't want that.

NO, NO, NO Emily . . . the flowcharts were for the . . . um . . err . . . <whisper> the NFL T-baggin' episode. :o

That should reeeaaaalllly not be in a speech on celiac.

Yeppers! It's kinda hard for me but we need to get the word out! I have to put together boards. (I thought flowsheets were for debate...) I have most of the pictures but...yeah. I could post it up here (the speech) but I really REALLY don't want it to get plagerized. (My first practice tournament is in Miami (far away from where i live. on the other side of the state!) and then naples... Then Georgia... Then Somewhere on the west coast! (HA! If i make it as far as Nationals.)

You guys have been SO busy today! Gosh, it's bad when it's easier to keep up with the OMG thread! This reminds me of the summer of 2006!

Need to clarify, is this Naples Italy, or Naples, Florida (must know how excited I should be )

Naples, Florida, but as far as how excited ... very! It's a beach and that's about all I'm up to ... and did I say it was a business trip? That means fancy hotel, fancy dinners, :) Adam "works" during the day, I hang out at the pool and spa!

Here's the hotel Open Original Shared Link .... and it's in just a few weeks!

CarlaB Enthusiast

Hey, Light, so you live in Florida? My dad lives in St. Petersburg! As you have read already, I'll be in Naples next month.

Daughter-of-TheLight Apprentice

Yup! I am floridian through and through. XD Which is why I'm crazy. And why I'm in a quince. And why I have a huge collection of seashells.

Janet! NFL deltoid-squish should absolutely be highlighted in a speech on celiac. This disease can have an undeniable connection to infertility. The hit that I have been picturing between these two athletes..well, need I say more? Light could show the chart illustrating the jarring hit from Monday Night Football with the following dialogue: "Untreated celiac disease can result in fertility problems, much like this defensive move, known in certain circles as T-bagging". You'll need a pointer.

My family has been in St. Pete for a long time .... I have a picture of my great-grandmother in a July 4th parade dated 1904! Funny thing, all the men were wearing BLACK suits and HATS ... in JULY, in FLORIDA!!! :o So, Mom was born and raised there, Dad's family moved there when he was 15. They moved up north when they got married and I was born in Ohio, but I've spent a LOT of time down there .... I even lived there a few years in the ealy 90's ... I was baptized in St. Pete ... so I'm almost a Floridian. :)

In response to your questions regarding probiotics.  I have had Celiac for 40 years.  Stomach issues: digestion, IBS to chronic constipation, bloat after eating anything.  I was unable to eat a healthy variety of foods, tried probiotics supplements - some made me worse, others made no difference.  After reading about people with Crones, IBS, etc, who made their own probiotics I started making Milk Kefir: not water Kefir. There are 10 probiotics in milk KEFIR. After 3 weeks I was able to eat more, no gas, no IBS.  If you have a computer just ask for videos on making milk Kefir. I branched out and make my own Kombucha for even more probiotics. I do not make my yogurt because there are only about four probiotics in that. I started this when I was 82 and I still make my own Kefir and Kombucha. My stomach issues were fixed with the Milk Kefir alone. If you decide to try making it, make certain you order MILK GRAINS. The finished product tastes a bit like Buttermilk. I hope this helps in your journey to good health.

Help me out here. Lauren Dam gluten-free beer from Spain is listed as gluten free. Yet its made from Barley Malt. I thought barley and any form had gluten. Anybody have any more information about it?

Ferritin levels.  And see what your hemoglobin looks like too, that will tell you if you are anemic?  You can have 'low normal' levels that will not be flagged by blood tests.  I had 'low normal' levels, my lab reading was. c12, just over what was considered normal, but I had small benign lesion on my tongue, and sometimes a sore mouth, and a consultant maxillofacial ordered an iron infusion for me as he felt my levels were too low and if he  raised them to 40, it would help.   Because you are not feeling 100% it might be worth looking at your levels, then discussing with your doctor if they are low normal.  But I stress, don't supplement iron without your levels being monitored, too much is dangerous.

Hi Katht -  I sympathize with your struggles in following a gluten-free diet and lifestyle. I found out that I had Celiac Disease a few months before I turned 70. I just turned 89 and it has taken me almost 20 years to attain a fairly normal intestinal  function. I also lost a lot of weight, down to 100 lb. down from about 140 lb. What Trents wrote you was very true for me. I am still elimination foods from my diet. One person suggested you keep a food diary and that is a good idea but it is probably best just to do an elimination diet. There are several ne and maybe one for celiacs. I used one for a while and started with plain rice and zucchini and then added back other foods to see if I reacted or not. That helped a great deal but what I did not realise that it would only very small amounts of some foods to cause inflammation in my intestine. Within the last few years I have stopped eating any trace amounts of hot peppers, corn and soy(mostly in supplements) and nuts, (the corn in Tylenol was giving me stomach aches and the nuts were causing foot pains). Starting an elimination diet with white rice is better than brown rice that has some natural toxins. In addition it is very important to drink sufficient plain water. You can find out how much to drink for your height and weight online. I do have difficulty drinking 48 ounces of water but just recently have found an electrolyte supplement that helps me stay well hydrated, Adding the water and electrolytes may reduce muscle cramps and gag spams you wrote about. . Also buy some anti-gluten enzyme capsules to take with meals. I use GliadinX advertised here. These are a lot of things to do at one time as they reflect my 20 years of experience. I hope you do what you can manage to do over time. Good luck and take care.
