I can do it. Send me all the mysterious things you find in your yard.

Even Van Gogh couldn't sell gluten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And late last night I woke on the couch to see a comm'l (an advert to you-know-who :P ) for one of those WONderful "art exhibits" at a Radisson over the weekend, where the 'artwork' inspires commentary along the lines of "but I'm afraid it won't go w/ the drapes", and maybe it's only because it's in Berkeley, but they've got a separate suite, just off the Mendocino Room, for the gluten-free paintings!!! :D

<which reminds me>

The Hillel Center up there ran into problems years ago when hosting an exhibit of Religious Paintings. A few New Testament-inspired works had been chosen and the Elders accused the curator of CC.

hehehehe

P.S. That curator sure 'let the yeti lead' on THAT one!

Excellent, Jess! I can use you also....I need to send you samples of mysterious things that I see growing in my husband's hockey bag...

:o

If I recall correctly, Van Gogh was one of the artists at the time who integrated things into his paintings. Cigarette ash, skin, blood....perhaps bread crumbs?

How is the Yeti, I have not heard from him since my return :)

You are all absolutely nuts.

Did someone call cashew? Can I still be the cashew?

Who is looking after the Yeti? I found something in my yard today. DNA testing is beyond my means, but I wonder? Should I treat is as something sacred, or just compost it?

If the parade will have a yeti, will we need sweepers after that float. I clean up the parking lot in front of my store regularly, but how big a shovel will I need for yeti droppings?

It looks like the Sillyville vortex has sucked me in.

I think I am here to stay. God help us all (especially me :o ).

Fitting in well Peter! <maybe too well . .. . .

<just like a spy would . .. ... .he's even already disavowed the Kommandant . . . . .

OOPS!! Was that out loud?

Helllloooooo Sarah!!! Now we've got a face to put with the name!! Apparently, based on the angle, my son took your photo! ;)

Yes, Sarah, nice to see you!

Mornin' all....Reporting for duty!

I've been pacing around, unable to get my breakfast down....the true identity of Scott...Hmmm. This is troublesome, as I think of the past weeks and how my dad has seemed...well, different. Trying to...moderate...edit...control things. Correcting me on a medical point, criticising when I emoticize too much...And what's with his sudden need for me to log in with a password before I go into their apartment?! Could it be....

He's done it yet again??

   PLEEEZ ask him to get us MORE EMOTICONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:o I tell ya......he's a tricky one, your dad.......and in the photo.......the caption...... "ready, aim...." Is he going to throw my cupcakes? cause I just ate the last one.:lol:

Observation:

Joggers/walkers in big cities carry pepper spray to fend off muggers.

Joggers/walkers in the country carry a big stick to beat off the neighbor's crazy inbred dogs.

in my case, it's for the occasional wandering eviscerated zombie.

If I recall correctly, Van Gogh was one of the artists at the time who integrated things into his paintings. Cigarette ash, skin, blood....perhaps bread crumbs?

:o could it have been?????? Everything just got REALLY swirly adn crazy toward the end....

:o Bev's Brain Back!? Run for your LIVES!!

I don't think chickpeas are nuts ... for that matter, neither are peanuts!

This appears to be at least partly leaning into NWSpice territory. :P:lol:

My brain has not returned .... parts of it have, but the rest is still gone. But I've been on Mino for a couple weeks now, so maybe soon. :)

Soon, yes, soon. :hopefulicon:

Carla? Brain back enough to know the above NW = nitwit, right?

WTH w/ so many nighttime posts??? Every OTHER night I'm reading it all by my lonesome! :(

<gah! now i see i was part of the conv anyway!>

Why, she's measuring (fake) dinosaur bones, of course.

"(fake) dinosaur bones"??

-or-

(fake dinosaur) bones??

<who faked the dinosaurs!!?>

Oh and .... . . . . .. .cool little paleontologist u have there!

Not too much longer and you'll be in the 501 club. Here's a suggestion to boost your numbers, you wait for Tom to post (preferably on the OMG thread) and then you reply with a "hmmm, that's interesting".

LMAO :lol::lol:

Nice pic SARAH! :)

. . .. Tom's been working on gathering his wits but apparently, he has packed them in several different boxes for his move and failed to label them appropriately!

Ack! No kiddin' right!?

Mom was helping and I'd made some Nitwit joke at an inopportune moment. So, I just unpacked some wits from a 'misc kitchen' box, next to the metal skewers. SOMEhow she heard something about "what you KNIT with", so put some wits in a box w/ what suddenly, to her, looked like knitting needles!! :o

And The Search continues . .. .. .

P.S. Lovin' all the new avatars!!

<oops mine's been same for awhile>

This appears to be at least partly leaning into NWSpice territory. :P:lol:

No, no, no .... you have NOT found your replacement!!!

So, can we really say legumes are nuts?

Cashew is not a fit for you .... hmm, it's just too easy of a nut .... it's not a pain in the butt at all, they come already cracked and everything, plus they're high in fat .... I'll have to think about it, but I'm leaning towards saying you are a Brazil Nut.

Carla? Brain back enough to know the above NW = nitwit, right?

Yeah, I got it. ;) But since no one else did, I'm wondering if I've gotten too much of my brain back to understand this thread!

tom Contributor
Maybe he is actually participating!! Maybe he has a fake/second member ID so that he can participate in some of the threads!! Maybe Sarah isn't really Sarah . . . hmmm? :o Maybe Emily is Scott - she would have gotten some advice from her dad on how to play a different character - no wait, that's not right. If Emily is Scott, then Emily's dad wouldn't be giving Scott advice!! I'VE GOT IT! Emily isn't Scott! Scott is Emily! Emily is the board administrator!

OMG LOL  this is just how the whole slew/slough bit started - when it was proposed that *I* was Richard - leading to Soughsie, ik-wip-seh, Knickeigh, Pseuzee etc etc etc

TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! and we need a red-faced devil emoticon.......and - - there was another one we needed - - can't remember........

The red-faced-from-embarrasment one!

Or a green-with-envy one for when ppl go to Naples?

Nope...I've got it. Tom is, through and through, a macadamia nut.

The fruit of this tree is a very hard, woody globose follicle with a pointed apex, obovate or elliptical in shape, with an entire or spiny-serrated margin...

Now THAT'S our Tom!! :lol::lol:

That was actually my second choice!

But, I looked up Brazil Nut to see if I could find something to post and realized you are correct, he's a macadamia. Brazil nuts can only grow in virgin forests that have a certain kind of orchid .... Tom doesn't belong there, so he's a macadamia.

*MY* replacement???? No no no .. .. .that NitWit Spice is over in the WhF freezer section, trying to decide betw soy ice cream flavors, then buying all 3.

Brazil????!

But I like and often eat cashews!!

And it's a funny-sounding word! :)

Hmmmm Macadamia wouldn't be bad.

Can't say I agree w/ the reasons .. .. . .can't I say I know WTH THOSE WORDS MEAN!!!!

Can't say I've eaten a macadamia in <3 yrs, so my gut wants to go w/ cashew.

HEY!!!! Is she calling me ELLIPTICALLY shaped?? <gasp>

Tom, a cashew is a normal, run of the mill nut ... it's just not you.

Do the forests need to stay virginal?

Gah! Orchid reminds me of feeling like a 'hot-house flower', rather than the more extreme Bubble Boy.

Oh and .... . . . . .. .cool little paleontologist u have there!

If you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, her answer is

I want to play the electric piano in a rock-n-roll band. B)

Perhaps she could play in the BSP . . . However, she's not allowed to say "ass", she has to substitute the workd "bottom" . . . Bad-bottom Snow Poodles?

Previous answers have been

a horse rider

an artist

a veternarian

(these three were all at the same time and she decided she would have to live in Paris so that she could do that - huh? )

Very early on, she said she wanted to be a coffee maker - I wasn't sure if this meant she wanted to work at Starbucks or she just wanted to be a small kitchen appliance.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Tom, I just don't think you've come from that forest ... so are you now wanting to be a Brazil Nut after you already snubbed it?

Darn210 Enthusiast

Anyone else get pins and needles. ??? Burning feeling ? Heat makes it so much worse 😔  Winter is here.  I had to lower my thermostat because I couldn't take that hot air feeling 😔  Hopefully it goes away soon

I assume that you already know that genetic testing for celiac disease cannot be used to confirm a celiac diagnosis. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% actually develop celiac disease. It can be used to rule out celiac disease with a high degree of confidence, however, in the case where the genetic testing is negative for the genes. Until and unless you are actually diagnosed with celiac disease I would not raise this as an issue with family. However, if you are diagnosed with celiac disease through blood antibody testing and/or endoscopy with positive biopsy I would suggest you encourage first degree relatives to also purse testing because there is a significant chance (somewhere betwee 10% and almost 50%, depending on which studies you reference) that they will also have or will develop active celiac disease. Often, there are symptoms are absent or very minor until damage to the small bowel lining or other body systems becomes significant so be prepared that they may blow you off. We call this "silent celiac disease".
    • trents
If you were off gluten for two months that would have been long enough to invalidate the celiac blood antibody testing. Many people make the same mistake. They experiment with the gluten free diet before seeking formal testing. Once you remove gluten from the diet the antibodies stop being produced and those that are already in circulation begin to be removed and often drop below detectable levels. To pursue valid testing for celiac disease you would need to resume gluten consumption equivalent to the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread daily for at least two weeks, preferably longer. These are the most recent guidelines for the "gluten challenge". Without formal testing there is no way to distinguish between celiac disease and gluten sensitivity since their symptoms overlap. However, celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that damages the small bowel lining, not true of gluten sensitivity. There is no test available for gluten sensitivity so celiac disease must first be ruled out. By the way, elevated liver enzymes was what led to my celiac diagnosis almost 25 years ago.
    • trents
Then it does not seem to me that a gluten-related disorder is at the heart of your problems, unless that is, you have refractory celiac disease. But you did not answer my question about how long you had been eating gluten free before you had the blood antibody test for celiac disease done.
