Hey, Janet, I'll be in Indy Monday! :D

Where??? Where??? I've got no plans!! Well - during the day, at least. Got a neighborhood thing Monday night.

Happy Anniversary Carla!

Did you have a good time out?

elye Community Regular
What does that mean???????

...Peter will know...

From the "Cured" thread . . .

Look everybody!!!! Emily's sober!!!!!

Well, I'm not anymore. Not really. I have had, I believe, 3 and a half glasses of wine. Largish glasses. (Man, saying "largish" is very difficult when sober...imagine when drunk?)

May have one or two more...MIL is still here. Takes the edge off....

We should have a gathering for all of our local celiac friends, we can all bring a gluten-free meal and it will be our own potluck.

Aw, man...would I ever LOVE to meet up with all you guys for a dinner. See, this is sentimentality brought on by copious wine. I may even begin to weep, thinking about how great that would be. BLECCHHHH! Must get back to my silly, caustic self...

Carry on, Sober Sillies!

Best emoticon as representative of me a little looped: ^_^

The Fashion Mall at Keystone at the Crossing .... but I have to have my blood taken first .... so we'll (hubby will be there, too) leave after that .... so it will definitely be afternoon sometime. Does that work for you? :)

Happy Anniversary Carla!

Yes! We always take all the kids with us, LOL. In the beginning it was because we couldn't get babysitters, so we used the excuse that it's the anniversary of the start of our family, which it is if you think about it ... so we continued on with that tradition. We had japanese food ... then we went to Graeter's for ice cream.
blueeyedmanda Community Regular

Sounds like it was a nice evening out. If you don't mind me asking, what do you usually get at the Japenese place? There is one close to work and I have been asked there.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Well ... ummm ... I haven't needed to eat gluten-free for the past couple months .... seems that as I treated some of the Lyme coinfections, ALL my GI issues melted away! But, when I was gluten-free, I did eat sushi. :)

Works for me . . . Hubby is home so I won't have the kids. If I'm lucky, my Crate & Barrel merchandise gift card will have arrived and I can go spend it. Coffee/Soda in the food court? Or a real restaurant?

How about Starbucks, it's right by Crate and Barrel?

Was too askeert to post that on the actual thread. Some people don't like sillies

Heheheheehee I had all sorts of responses run through my head but thought same of posting them there. :)

Yay Janet's back! And Amanda's in! And Carla had an anniversary!

Now . . ... . . Where's Sarah?

We haven't been at full-strength in too long, for my taste.

P.S. Aha! And Bev! Haven't we been Bev-less too much lately?

Hi Tom,

and I came bearing food tonight too. :)

psawyer Proficient
Peter, look what I started.

Gee, thanks, Laura. Now I am the Oracle of Sillyville. So many questions to think about...

 well of COURSE there was wine, you silly!!!!!!!! But.... not enough to make me a stumbling drunkard, for Pete's sake.......

and speaking of Pete, just who IS this Peter in "for Pete's sake?" Is it our Peter? OMG is HE that Peter? Another question for Psawyer!!!!!!!!!!!

:P

Yes, I've been suspecting for some time that our Psawyer is, in, fact, the very Pete in "for Pete's sake"...I think he's our man. He may very well be the Peter in "Peter the Great", as well. And who do you think Elton John wrote Peter's Song for? Indeed, there could be a whole lot more about Peter that we're just beginning to understand. He knows the answer to everything...he somehow created some incredible gravy...What other astounding surprises are coming our way?!

Oh, for Pete's sake!

This one I will try to answer. I am not that Pete. The guy in the above is, as I understand it, a euphemistic reference to God. It refers to the apostle Simon, who took the name Peter at Jesus' request ("thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church" Matt 16:18). Simon Peter became Pope Peter, and then Saint Peter, and is now employed as a doorman somewhere. ;)

Definitely not me. :o

Pass the wine, please. :P

And, isn't Jesus the door? Oh, no, wait, he's the gate .... getting mixed up here ... yeah, pass the wine over here, too ...

Hey, Janet, will you recognize me from my picture?

Hey, Janet, will you recognize me from my picture?

Who knows??!! Perhaps if you make sure you wear your tights and patent leather maryjanes. Will you recognize me? You'll have to go look at my profile to see me. I can always call you on your cell and walk towards the ringing phone.

Now . . . anybody got any recommendations on how to lose 20 pounds in two days? I was wanting to lose some weight before I met any of my fellow sillies. I know I sound slim and athletic . . .

ROFL! I've had the opposite weight problem for the past few years ... finally a friend asked me the other day if I had gained weight!!! I said yes and he said he could see it in my face, how much did I gain? I told him three pounds! He looked at me like I was crazy, but I said it was really only three pounds, but on me, you can see it!

I used to have more current pics up .... but I'm always changing my hair, so you wouldn't recognize me from them either, LOL.

Good Sunday Mornin' to all!

Wowie, Some Sillies are actually meeting in the flesh, not just intellectually! How exciting! Do not worry about any extra weight, Janet. Carla's no young Robert Redford...are you, Carla? ;)

See, told you everyone! Peter DOES know everything! Euphemistic references to apostles, gravy tips extraordinaire...He is the Silly Oracle.

...Although last night in bed I was tossing and turning, wondering about kamikazes and sour cream best-before dates...

Morning Emily!

I can't believe we are 2 days away from 2008!

elye Community Regular

Yes, two days from the new year...!

No big plans here...anyone got any rip-roaring parties planned?

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

Nah, I think we are just having a quiet night at home. We both work tomorrow yet.

Intellectually???? Not really the word I would have chosen for this thread.

Neighbors are doing a family New Year's Eve Party - kids are invited - no need to pay an outrageous amount for a babysitter. Of course, we'll probably be back home by 10:30. ;)

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

I have always wanted to go downtown to Harrisburg for New Years but it is such a hassle getting parking and then getting out after the Strawberry drops ( i think thats what they drop we have a few drops around here and sometimes I get mixed up) One of these years though. Last year it was pouring rain!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I just typed a bunch of stuff, highlighted some text, and LOST IT ALL. BAH!!!!!!

who cares. I lost all my silly on a phone call I just had. :P (a good but difficult phone call, from best friend, who admonished me to channel my gluten/mental health crusading in a different way - or to tone it down, maybe...........and she is RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! long story......perhaps will address it in anotehr thread)

   the Oracle of Silly. That's our Peter.

OMG - some sillies ARE meeting!!!!!!!!!! Susie is jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Year's Eve = amateur night. I never really go out on this night. Will stay home and watch movies with my best friend, most likely. Hang out with mommy late afternoon tomorrow and drink champagne. Asleep by 10, most likely.

edit: AND THERE IS SARAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE have you been, long-lost silly??????? we have missed you!!!!!!!!! Um, were you engulfed in fluids????????

Hi,  My 7 year daughter has complained of this in the past, which I thought were part of her glutening symptom, but more recently I have come to figure out it's part of her histamine overload symptom. This one symptom was part of her broader profile, which included irritability, extreme hunger, confusion, post-nasal drip. You might want to look up "histamine intolerance". I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

My 5yo was diagnosed with celiac last year by being tested after his sister was diagnosed. We are very strict on the gluten-free diet, but unsure what his reactions are as he was diagnosed without many symptoms other than low ferritin.  He had a school party where his teacher made gluten-free gingerbread men. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?
    • trents
Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.

I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
