I had a whole menu planned and guests coming over but had to cancel because I got vertigo yesterday and am still really dizzy today :o

Oh, Julie! :o Hope everything's okay. What a shame, you having planned a wee wee get-together (!) and now you're felled with vertigo. This is heinous. Now, you're not drunk, are ye? :o;)

I've also asked her to do a butt-scoot on the very lovely cream carpet in her living room....but we've decided to wait on that until JUST before her guests arrive on Tues. night.

Wait! Don't get Annie to scoot across the prize living room carpet...we gotta pull out the big guns, here. FIND THAT YETI! No one can do a carpet like him..... :o:lol:

My big complaint about the pre show is what in the HECk was Ryan Seacrest and a red carpet doing there?

:o

OMG - WHAT? He's everywhere. Missed that one - - had I seen it, my rant would have been much longer.

Yes, those viruses DO go around that cause vertigo......I do hope your case isn't too severe. Nevertheless, Annie and I are on our way, do keep that end of the couch cleared, we are excited about your wee wee party. ;) And don't you worry, you won't have to lift a finger, Annie will do everything. ;) (not really - I just tell myself that)

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!! Yes, whoever's got him, I'll need him here by Tuesday for a very dramatic and well-timed Butt Scoot.

*snort*

I wanna come too! :)

Patt, I'd love for you to come!

I have plenty of yummy gluten-free food, and plenty of room on the big comfy couch. :)

Hmmm, maybe that's it, a suspicious ingredient in my lime sauce :o

Thanks Emily, I would be fine if the world would stop turning right in front of my eyes,

Annie can have at the kitchen!

You must not have watched the preshow, they had a Hollywood style "red carpet" set up with Ryan Seacrest working it, pure CRAZINESS.

And most of the "stars" that walked said Super Bowl red carpet were from Fox shows like House, American Idol, etc.

Not too exciting a game so far, is it?.... <_<

Tom Petty looked great. If only he'd cut his hair......

jerseyangel Proficient

Just saw Tom Petty--his hair looks just like it did 20 years go when he was on the Gary Shandling Show :D

He looks good, though for his age. We enjoyed it.

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

Emily I was thinking the same thing, Tom Petty still has it...but the hair needs to go. I am not into long hair. He did a great performance though, American Girl is my favorite Tom Petty song.

I did hear Van Halen is coming to Hershey...I may look into getting tickets. Since I dont think I will make the Bon Jovi concert which is out towards Philly.

OMG - this is just WRONG. I will accept it for the Oscars, Golden Globes, etc. - but now the SUPER BOWL red carpet? good gawd........just silly, really.

Tom Petty. Susie is pleased. Good, solid, GROWN UP (adult) American Rocker. V. glad they didn't have some insipid teenager like......Hannah Montana or something, given how incredibly young the crowd around the stage looked (they probably don't even KNOW who Tom Petty is)......

I am watching a marathon of Keeping Up Appearances on PBS. Hyacinth Boo-kay, perfect for a rainy Sunday.

but I am BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! been trapped in my house for too long.

And..........starting to wonder whether I"ll EVER EVER EVER EVER have a date again w/ a man I LIKE.

pathetic. got to get OUT of this town.

<OMG why am I thinking of this right now? what in hell is going on? maybe because I really COULD have died alone in this last siege>

I know, I am glad there was no young-ins singing.

What did you all think of Jordyn Sparks singing the national anthem?

oh - I missed that - - - I am not remotely a fan of Jordan Sparks and.....never quite understood how she won Idol......

Back to Hyacinth. Have to keep checking computer, I am bidding on some shoes (for my Lady of Leeeeeeeeeeeezure suit) on ebay. ;)

Yes Emily, I have to concur, the Super Bowl is a bit BORING at the moment....

I have scoped out some alternatives:

The Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet?

The CLoser marathon on TNT?

and a personal favorite, a Murder She Wrote marathon on the Hallmark network  Good ol Jessica Fletcher :D

Tom Petty rocked it out at half time! Excellent!

And I thought JS did a good job singing the National Anthem

I enjoyed Alicia Keyes performance too in the pre show.

Yep Susie, Ryan Seacrest and the whole trying to "Hollywood" it up was heinous. I like men, sweaty men, and all things football, former players, current players, coaches, etc.

I don't want to hear about who threw the best party and where Paris Hilton was....

DID YOUR LOL GET THERE FROM OLD NAVY??? You didn't say if you liked it or not, or maybe you did and I missed it??? Details!!! Do tell!

I THINK I like it.......yet have to wait until I feel better, try it on w/ appropriate accoutrements, etc. I was too befuddled to tell if I really LOVED it........the pants were a bit loose.......but better than too tight, eh?

A Murder She Wrote marathon............dear gawdddddddddd..................

OMG - did you guys know we have some fabulous asian chefs on this forum? Just TRY and go and read that phyllo dough/ voul-a-vent thread WITHOUT having your mouth water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was out of my mind.........the American diet is just so bloody.......pedestrian compared to what these two are eating....

Good morning Sillies!

Emily where are you, I don't even see you here yet??? :)

John is still smiling over the Giants victory. Welcome to Monday...another week ahead of us. It is rainy and dreary and I could have slept a few more hours. Right now I am struggling to keep my eyes open.

Yes, last two minutes VERY exciting, lol. Must admit I didn't watch much of the middle of the game (except for halftime)...it was so boring mostly that I was watching the Wedding Cake competition on the Food Network until the last two minutes of the game. :P

But I did see again last night Meet the Fockers - - several guffaws.......just the silliest movie ever and EXACTLY the right actors for the parts.

Feeling much better today, sillies. :) No trip to doctor will be required.

Poor Annie -- I think both just got fatter during mommy's bedridden state. Did not help that I was throwing miniature marshmallows (BLECH! the homemade ones are just so superior!) at her yesterday, for...something to do.......:ph34r:

Where's Bev? Where's Sarah? mygawd, have we lost SArah forever?

He got his Enterolab results on Thursday...no surprise: high levels of all three antibodies, and a seriously elevated fecal fat count. Amazing, I think, that his blood panel was "very negative" (exact words of the gastroenterologist), as was his biopsy ...Unbelievable how misleading some tests are!

You're all better, Susie! Yay! You can come out to play!

What did you all think of Jordyn Sparks singing the national anthem?

I was pleasantly surprised. Being local, she was BIG news in Phx last yr (or whenever), but I don't think I'd ever heard her sing.

Great soft tone to start & great command of her voice displayed through the end.

. .. . . .. I like men, sweaty men, and all things football, former players, . . . ..

GAH!! Bite your tongue, foreigner!!!!!!

Pretty much EVERY PLAY, I had to be as 'on the edge of seat' as one can possibly be during full reclination of a big comfy recliner :wacko:

Hi all !! Did anyone ever get prescribed methylprednisone steroids for inflammation of stomach and intestines?  Did it work ??  Thank you !!
    • cristiana
Hi Colleen Are you supplementing B12/having injections? I have learned recently that sometimes when you start addressing a B12 deficiency, it can temporarily make your symptoms worse.  But it is important not to stop the treatment.  Regarding your problems with anxiety, again that is another symptom of a B12 deficiency.   I didn't know what anxiety was until it hit me like a train several months before gastrointestinal issues began, so I can certainly relate.   Two books which helped me hugely were At Last A Life by Paul David (there is a website you can look up) and The Depression Cure: The Six-Step Programme to Beat Depression Without Drugs by Dr Steve Llardi.  Although his book is aimed at people who have depression, following the principals he sets out was so helpful in lessening my anxiety.  Llardi suggests we need to focus on getting enough: - physical exercise - omega-3 fatty acids - natural sunlight exposure - restorative sleep - social connectedness - meaningful, engaging activity   ... and we should feel a lot better. That is not to stay you must stop taking medication for depression or anxiety if you have been prescribed it, but adopting the changes Dr Llardi sets out in the book should really help. Can I just ask two more questions:  1) you say that you are B12 deficient, did they test your iron levels too?  If not, you really ought to be checked for deficiency and, 2) did they check your thyroid function, as an overactive thyroid can be cause rapid heartbeat and a lot of coeliacs have thyroid issues? Hello still dancing around my celiac disease and not getting medically backed up considering Ive been glutenfree since 1994.All my ailments are the core issue of my ghost disease aka celiac disease. Im angery because the "celiac specialist " basically lightly dismissed me.Im extremely angery and fighting for a new primary care physician which is hard to do in Northern Cali.So currently without and looking.Im angery that its lightly taken when its extremely serious to the one who has it.My only evidence is a brochure back in the days when I got news letters when I lived at my parents. It was published in 1998.I was diagnosed before any foods eliminated from my diet. Angery doctors don't take seriously when Im clearly speaking.I did write to the medicine of congress and have case number.

I totally get this. It's absolutely a grieving process, and it's okay to feel gutted about the loss of those simple joys, especially at 18. Your feelings are completely valid—it's not about being ungrateful for your amazing boyfriend, it's about mourning the life you thought you'd have. That "tortured by the smell" feeling is so real. It does get easier, I promise, but it's okay to sit in the sadness and just vent about how much it stings right now. Thanks for sharing that. Celiac.com has published a book on our site by Jean Duane PhD called Gluten-Centric Culture, which covers many of the social aspects of having celiac disease: This chapter in particular covers issues around eating with family and others - Gluten-Centric Culture: Chapter 5 - Grabbing A Bite Together:
