Good morning me sillies- Amanda- hope you are feeling better!!!!!!!!!!!

has anyone seen the yeti lately? I am concerned that with all this absinthian intoxication lately, he has somehow slipped under the radar and is wandering aiimlessly preying on spring break college girls down in Florida. OMG- maybe he'll show up in Yetis Gone Wild. Could he be chillin' with Chuck Norris?

hhhmmm, 10-15 silies storming the entire french army? It'll require some planning.

We could get them all drunk on absinthe and then take over.

Nekkid firefighters??? I'm there!!

I think if we have ourselves, the Yeti, Chuck and nekkid firefighters, storming the chalet hould be no problem. In fact, we could do on Bastille Day when all those Frenchies are preoccupied!

However, three children later, Gnikkeigh has it all sussed out

Gnikkeigh knows how to lose her gnickers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Here is a question posed to me by The Ripper, and all of my linguistic texts have not afforded me the answer. Have not tried Mr. Google...guess I'm afraid I may let in some scary, pornographic, sicko spam er sumfin':

The Ripper is my kind of kid!!! Middle school? Is it possible that sh!t is actually a compound verb as in "to take a sh!t"????

Jeez, Louise, the questions we deal with here. :D

The Canadian Oxford Dictionary, 2ed, lists all three of those (in alphabetical order, so shat comes first, then sh!t, and finally sh!tted). Yes, that's right, the Oxford dictionary, and it's Canadian version, includes all those words you can't say on television. It labels this one as coarse slang, and includes all the senses, including the transitive sense of "to lie or exaggerate to."

B)

A sure sign of spring: As I was looking this up, I glanced out my window to see a robin sitting in the maple tree. He's gone now, but he was there for a good five minutes.

OK- can't argue with the COED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Irish truly know what they're saying--The wee beast just shat in me potatoes!....

Oh! This is wonderfully portentous...

That robin, I'm sure, was keeping a wary eye on your house, Peter--making sure no cats wandered out... ;)

  On the first part and I LOVE robins- first sign of spring with their swelled orange breast....remind me of my mom!!!!!!!!!! Oh God- that sounded weird. My mom did not have a swollen orange chest (that I know of).

:So yay! I met yolo!! :D

We talked for close to 2 hrs :o and plan to do it again.

And I expect to attend some art, poetry & musical jam session gatherings that friends of hers organize. I've never been that big on poetry which isn't actually lyrics, but hey, maybe I'll dig it AND there's jamming afterwards!!;)

Yeah Tom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

We sat in an hour of darkness, too, in front of the fireplace, playing Password.

Jack disappeared down the hall for a few minutes to let Gus out. When he returned, he announced that it was SO dark outside, but dogs seem to know right where to go, because "Gus shat in his regular spot!" (Just waiting to employ this new word).....

I'm telling you Em- you have got a winner on your hands. When I taught middle school- Jack the Ripper was my kind of kid! God I miss those crazy middle school kids!!!!!!

I've been suspecting that our yeti has been in to the hospital, visiting my dad....Dad has spoken of a very large individual wearing a lot of clothing...very covered up, but one can see a lot of hair sticking out, standing there, not talking. I assumed a couple of weeks ago that these stories were a result of the infection and/or morphine, but there have been visits the last few days, and Dad's off everything. At first he thought it was God, and that he was dead.

This could absolutely be a possibility in my family......... <_<

Oh thank heavens, I thought we'd lost him (the yeti, not your dad). It's nice to hear that he feels a sense of social responsibility and visits the bedbound. Or maybe he feels (as I suspect most of us do) that your dad is part of our family and we all wish we could visit him. Knowing what I do of your dad through you I can't imagine that he would find it at all odd to see a parade of people he's never seen before come traipsing through his room. (Well, Chuck might give him pause.)

Good Sunday morning, Sillies......

Any of us regular church goers here? We are not  . Sunday mornings, when I've been here, seem pretty quiet...

When I do make the time to go, it's to a 2:30 service. Not much easier to fit in, you'd think, but there you are...

Curious timing Em. <uhhh ok I DO know today is Sunday>

I mean that on my little walk a few days ago I was scouting out the closest churches, thinking I may attend Mass today.

Except for the odd wedding or funeral, I've never voluntarily gone to Mass.

Went plenty as a kid when my parents made me, but that's about it.

Not quite sure yet whether I'll go today.

Kinda ended up w/ only 2hrs sleep last night.

Shelly's having a bit of a crisis w/ her 9yo, so I was on the ph until 3am, then couldn't sleep until after 4, and that was on the recliner.

Woke at 6:30 and headed to bed but couldn't get back to sleep. Gave up @9.

Mmmmmmmm coffeeeeeeeeeeeee

:lol::lol:

Well...Chuck is supposed to give everyone pause...

Actually, the urologist who conducted the scope test (cannot remember its name--a camera up into the bladder--lovely) asked Dad as he was pulling the tube out and peeling his gloves off, "Gee, Mr. Lye, can I get your autograph? Here, getcha a pen...just rip off a corner of the paper sheet under you...":unsure:

Me, neither, until the last couple of years. Always feel better upon leaving.... :)

mmmm, your dad's urologist is young enough to have watched the shows? That would give me pause. I like my specialists to be at least my age, although I guess at some point that's no longer possible.

Hello Sunday Sillies- Welp, Susie's in Vegas (what happens in Vegas stays there? I always figured if it happened across state lines that rule applied- what makes Vegas so special?).

Uncle ray's latest (changed to be more "politically correct"):

Sick Day

"I No Come Work Today!"

Joe calls into work and says, "Hey, I'm not coming to work today.

I'm sick, headache, stomach ache, legs hurt. I'm not coming to work."

The boss says, "You know something, Joe, I really need you today. When I feel like that, I go to my wife and tell her to give me sex. That makes everything better and I go to work. You try that."

Two hours later Joe calls again. "I did what you said, I feel great.

I'll be at work soon. By the way..........you've got nice house." :P

The celiacS thing gets on my nerves waaaaaay more than it probably should, too- which is why I keep my mouf shut! ;) Oh you have celiacs? How many do you have? Where do they all sleep, and do you have enough gluten-free bread for them all?

Fire update-- No flames visible on my side of the mountain tonight!!! Yay! (Although it did look reeeeally wicked.) Wildfires = Bad. We've had a bit of rain, which helps. The vast majority of the fire is out!

Heaven forbid you should keep them in the basement since most of them are probably allergic to mold as well.

And do be sure to stock up on the toilet paper.

Of course, if they're at your house be sure to outfit each one with a hose and shovel.

I made an unusual discovery today. If you accidentally leave the "m" out when typing in homedepot.com you get a most unexpected website.

I have to say Ptaum, that before you pointed it out (during the previous CeliacS conversation . . . if you want, I'll go back and quote it), I don't think I ever paid too much attention to someone typing/saying CeliacS. Yes...I think the trend is to have less and less of them these days. The feeding bills, the education...and so many stay at home for soooo long. Many of us just cannot get rid of our celiacs!

Spaghetti

For several years, a man was having an affair with an Italian woman. One night, she confided in him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18.

She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write "Spaghetti" on the back. He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.

One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife.

"Honey," she said, "you received a very strange post card today."

"Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later," he said.

The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the ca rd, turned white, and fainted. On the card was written: "Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Three with meatballs, two without. Send extra sauce."

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.

Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
