Another of Uncle ray's phinest.................

Jim walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink and while he's drinking, the monkey jumps all around the place. The monkey grabs some olives off the bar and eats them, then grabs some sliced limes and eats them, then jumps onto the pool table, grabs one of the billiard balls, sticks it in his mouth, and to everyone's amazement, somehow swallows it whole.

The bartender yells at Jim, "Did you see what your monkey just did?"

Jim says "No, what?"

"He just ate the cue ball off my pool table whole!"

"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied Jim "He eats everything in sight, the little pig, Sorry, I'll pay for the cue ball and stuff." He finishes his drink, pays his bill and the stuff the monkey ate, then leaves.

Two weeks later he's in the bar again, and has his monkey with him. He orders a drink and the monkey starts running around the bar again.

While Jim is finishing his drink, the monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it. Then the monkey finds a peanut and again sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it.

The bartender is disgusted. "Did you see what your monkey did now?" he asks.

"No, what?" replies Jim.

"Well, he stuck a maraschino cherry and a peanut up his butt, pulled it out, and ate it!" said the bartender.

"Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied Jim. "He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he had to pass that cue ball, he measures everything first."

Whenever I face the job issue and start looking......I am rendered anxiety- and grief-stricken. :( So now, I"m stepping away from this wretched job search and.....going to pray a bit.......and.........then work on projects around here. David has a head-hunter friend with whom I could meet but.....what in hell do I say to her? "what kind of job are you looking for?" will be her first question..........I HAVE NO IDEA and I HAVE NO SKILLS will be my answer.....that should work well.

Then I'd say to just put it out of your mind for the time being and focus on other, more positive things. Things tend to happen in their own time :)

Although hubby is well now - he could not ever cope with a full time job again.....all the diagnosis' came too late..too much damage done..so we rely on disability

Gosh Nikki--it's so sad that T wasn't able to be diagnosed earlier...I often wonder how things would have been different if I had. And work??--your 3 boys are plenty of work for you, I'm quite sure :D

Gah! Mini Kissey - - well - - he hurt his hand this morning at school, they suspected it were broken ('twere not, in fact - just a sprain). So - David went and got him - they planned on stopping by after all the medical heinosities were over - - but it went too long and the boy wanted to just go home......so some other time. The Wee Kissey adn I have talked on teh phone a couple of times - he's a hoot. I'm not askeert. :)

It sounds like you two are going to get along fine :)

Patti, I know you'll make the right decision regarding the job. Just take it all one day at a time.....and breathe :) They would be SO lucky to have you and I guarantee their patients would think they hit the jackpot having someone as caring like you working there.

I love Bradford Pear Trees!!!! You'll have to post pictures!

Thanks, Laura! :D

I'm trying to catch up a little, but my mind is here and there... I am feeling better than last week though, that's for sure.

Thanks for all of the great tree info, Sarah. This is really good news about you feeling better :)

I have my own little Operation going, Operation Target Expanded Bottom, I just purchased a treadmill that was delivered yesterday......it's just sitting there staring at me.....

I had a dream about you snuggling up to a cute blond curly haired boy. When I went to talk to him he was filling out his college application. So I'd like an explanation from you young lady - Just WHAT were you doing with that 18 year old boy!!!????!!??

WOW.....

Jess, could you please have a dream like that about me? <_<

I'm jealous, I want a garden. And according to Emily this is the day to be gardening, tis Earth Day. I must go out and be one with the earth somehow.....

Yes, I have been feeling that I must go outside and Be One with the Earth, something of a challenge as I am not a big gardener. So I went out, stood before my huge, majestic, dying chestnut tree, put my arms as far around its massive trunk as I could, and hugged it. Like, for five minutes. Willing it to be strong.....

Very Earthy of me!

And I shall do this again, maybe every day that it is in my life. I cannot wait to do it when my kids are home from school this afternoon - - BIG-TIME eye-rolling, head-shaking, and perhaps this kind of face:

:lol::lol:

Tom did you edit the Operation new plan thing? I can't find it....I was thining about what to name the Operation

Hmmmmmm.....How about Operation STOP: Smell Terrific Off Puffing? .... <_<

I was more leaning towards "Did Susie rip 'em or did it happen at a Hockey Game"

Operation Dementholate

Operation StupidGit (Sir Walter Raleigh in a Beatles song)

Since I didn't "see" the bunnies, hard to say . . . but yes animals can do horrible things to other animals. If they were as hidden as you said, it was probably an animal. If the majority of the "parts" were left behind, then it was most likely a domestic dog or cat because they are killing out of instinct and not for food. The wild animals (hawks, owls, coyotes, etc) will take the food although, they can leave quite a mess behind. We had a similar incident here two years ago :(

I have one word Susie, LADYBUGS, lots and lots of ladybugs ;) Often times it's when you step away and put it aside that opportunities tend to come to you, like ladybugs!

It could have been an animal. I just moved from an area that had a lot of wild life, coyotes, fox, etc, and it was a common occurance to see squirrels and birds bodies without the heads. I actually learned that they go for the head first (sorry to be so gross but I guess it's the meatiest) then they might circle back for the rest.

Well we live in a very residential area, only bunnies and occasional groundhogs around, rare to see a stray cat. The bodies were there, the heads were gone.

The Devil kids have moved over a month ago, and from Feb till the move out I believe they were in jail....

But my neighbor, Landens mom heard what she believes to be gun shots around 11 last night...she was so scared she didnt take her dogs out to potty the rest of the night...

The Cardiologist's Funeral

A beloved cardiologist died and was given an elaborate funeral. A huge

heart covered in flowers stood behind the casket during the service.

Following the eulogy, the heart opened, and the casket rolled inside.

The heart then closed, sealing the doctor in the beautiful heart

forever. At that point, one of the mourners burst into laughter. When

all eyes stared at him, he said, 'I'm sorry, I was just thinking of my

own funeral. I'm a gynecologist.'

The proctologist fainted.

At lunch today, everyone toasted my parents and were chanting for a speech. So, never a man to pass up an opportunity to address a crowd, my dad struggled to his feet and told the story of the most memorable anniversary gift he bought for my mom.

Apparently, he forgot their 25th, greatly angering my mom. So the next year my mom warned him the night before, "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in five seconds... and IT BETTER BE THERE!" The next morning Dad got up early and went to work. When Mom woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough, there was a small box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, Mom put on her robe and ran out to the driveway and brought the box back in the house.

She opened it, and found inside a brand-new bathroom scale.

Gawd......

Patti-they could be elevated due to the sample being hemolyzed. The specimen being a little off can send the tests out of whack...

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
