Gad....I thought we were talkin' about some guy named Telemarketer or Telephonic.

"Hi, I'm Nikki, and this is my husband, Teleprompter. For obvious reasons, he's known as 'Tel'".....

I suppose that's better than 'Prom'

You know, I should have thought of this....should have suspected...I saw her spreading a truckload of mulch in her backyard yesterday. I also saw her leaving her house on the weekend in full Cub Scout regalia.. ..

And lately, she has had a Silly look in her eye.....

...her left one - - the right was squinting with allergic tears.....

  mad

(I also don't get how Terry gets shortened to Tel  )

 I know - and Nicola finks we're odd for not getting it......

um - in this country - do we shorten Terry? I guess.........Ter........would be logical.....

Ptaum - I can't get into the beer as a summer beverage - always felt so sick after drinking it (which was phrequently in my youth  ) and of course now we know why.....gotta have something sparkling, fruity, adn delicious............

Um - Amanda - that evil Merck woman - - you can also THROW the yeti scat at her!!!!!! Known to banish evil spirits forever. ;)

Bev - I'll see you at Nepenthe tomorrow aft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Jess's Kitty Palace  all settling in.......am in love wif Lefty......

Sillies - got nowt else - forgot all of it, if there was any........quite "off" today - - meltdown whist trying to finish a necklace - project not working and I burst into tears....... and NO, not PMS - - apparently it's just my rotten personality - -

<we've been called twangy!!>

Wondering how many nicknames have nicknames .. . .isn't Terry short for Terrence?

Terry to Tel = Nikki to Nid??

(By simple arithmetic shift fyi)

Hmmmmmmmm invent Lazy Mojitos then?

Syrup? Bah, just sugar.

Muddling mint leaves? Pffft just chew a minty gum and spit in the glass .. . . or . . . . does toothpaste dissolve? Maybe dunk an Altoid a few times? (don't pretend they're not always handy!!! )

OH! OH! (which reminds me, foreshadowingly, where's ~alex~ ???)

Susie! Do you sell the jewellery that you make? You often seem to be working on something... .

What's going on in Kisseyville? Have you guys agreed to disagree? Has the argument-fuelled smoke cleared?

DH and I were arguing this evening about which was a better movie, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or Prince Caspian. The smoke will clear soon....... ... .

Dunno yet...and do not know how to 'splain what I make. semi-precious gemstones, sterling and pearls......hand-wired together. will have to put photos up, somehow.

Oh, all is quite well in Kisseyville! not to worry. Um, I DO think I should put up a more dignified photo of the goof, though......

Ah! We settled the old TP quandary long ago - - it rolls from the bottom, reducing the chances of it all flipping out into a big heap on the floor....

I'm telling ya, we have addressed some colossal points of difference head-on over the years we have been together:

Which is the correct way to slice a kiwi - - length-wise or width-wise?

Whether or not eggs should ever be eaten with potatoes

Is cutting one's toenails a disgusting personal act that should be done in complete privacy?

Oh, it goes on and on....:rolleyes:

DingoGirl Enthusiast

OMG - I don't EVER want to see anyone cutting his toenails. In fact, I really don't want to see any toenails, period.

About 20 years ago, I was a receptionist in a law firm.......and this client was right around the corner, obviously cutting his nails. We could hear it (gross enough in itself), as he was right outside the kitchen area, standing in the main hallway, just off the reception area. What in hell? I called a couple of people up front to witness this spectacle. But....the worst - - after he'd left, we found his neat, tidy pile of nail remnants.............a NAIL cairn, to be precise, right on the counter outside the kitchen.

And yes, potatoes CAN be eaten w/ eggs - those would be hashbrowns. OMG - I miss McDonald's hash browns..........such yummy, dreamy piles of potato-y, greasy, golden-y heaven-puffs....... :(

tom Contributor
Whether or not eggs should ever be eaten with potatoes

I'd never have imagined this could be questioned!!!!

Besides hashbrowns (really? McD's? ), there are SO many varieties of home fries <that looks weird in print> w/ regional nuances.

Slices, chunks whatever . ... .as long as onions are involved I'll love 'em.

:lol:nail cairn

Terence to Terry to Tel  ....yes, I can see it looks odd BUT it's not so much as how it looks as to how it sounds

If you say Ter it sounds like Tel

Is this a peculi(hil)arity to Brits I wonder??? ......would yer have to call me hubby 'Terry' ALL the time?? ......NEVER 'Tel'

GADS how tiresome

We (Brits) would also shorten

Sharon to Shal

Darren to Dal

Gary to Gal

Derek to Del

:lol::huh:

I don't care if you fink I'm odd....I haven't got time for FULL names!!!!!!!

Terry to Tel = Nikki to Nid??

Nicknames for nicknames  .......why, thats as mad as pets for pets!

Ya gotta have a vowel, then an 'R' in your name

Did someone say Cape crusader cod piece???

Or which way to hang the toilet paper...over or under. :P

Has to be UNDER!!!!!

Which is the correct way to slice a kiwi - - length-wise or width-wise?

Width-wise

Also (optionally healthy fibRE boost) ..leave the skin on when you slice...........yes, yes!...it sounds wrong but TRY ^_^

Whether or not eggs should ever be eaten with potatoes

WHAAAAAT???

Well the how the heck is TER going to eat his fried egg & chips otherwise???? <_<

Is cutting one's toenails a disgusting personal act that should be done in complete privacy?

Indeed it should be THE LAW :o

NO toe-nail cairns PLEASE!!!

In fact, I really don't want to see any toenails, period.

 Well, I don't mind FEmale toe-nails attached to toes...with nail polish but NOT on men (hairy toes :( , looks odd)

Which reminds me ....I really must 'pretty up' my feet apres the 'wobbly blister/now hard skin' incident.

I may just go to the shop and have a pedicure ....but WHO would want to do that job????? :o

<not me>

...but I must point out that I would before I go: (in private!)

Cut my toe-nails

Try and get some hard skin off

SCRUB my feet then powder them.........

I also wash my hair BEFORE going to the hairdresser's

...but HOLY SKANKY HEADS!!!...I worked in a hairdressers for 4 yrs and you would be AMAZED at the sheer unashamed RANKNESS of heads of which people would expect you to touch !!!!!!!! :o:o

Seems as though DH is not the only one who finks that eggs with potatoes is simply wrong - - my dad has always thought this a bizarre combination. "Potatoes are a supper food, eggs for breakfast", kind of old-school thinking. I love 'em together - - a delicious, fast supper.. .but potatoes are not great for the diabetes, sadly.....

We (Brits) would also shorten

Sharon to Shal

Darren to Dal

Gary to Gal

Derek to Del

Equally odd is the seemingly illogical shortening of Margaret to Peggy, Howard to Hank, John to Jack, Richard to Dick... . .becomes a whole new name. I believe Mr. Chow's name is Tran Chow. This is excellent - - a name that is just too difficult to Westerize into a shortened form.

Width-wise

Also (optionally healthy fibRE boost) ..leave the skin on when you slice...........yes, yes!...it sounds wrong but TRY ^_^

Hey! I EAT it all - - skin and everything...yup.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
