Happy 4th of July Sillies!!!!

Yesterday Jen Landen and I spent the day at my moms. It was a lot of fun. We dont have much planned for the 4th. It is awful rainy and cloudy out. Not sure if it is supposed to clear up or not.

John is being lazy and is still in bed. Lucky is lazy and lying in front of the patio screen door on the floor...and I am bored and watching a show about Walmart.....yikes!

Btw, I want your recipe for fried chicken!

Well, I'm one of those people that chicken wing it, but here's what was in this batch: (and this is a major guess to quantities)

1 parts gluten-free flour mix (I'm an Annalise Robert's flour mix fan - yes I pay an outrageous amount for superfine brown rice, but I can get it locally and don't have to pay shipping)

2 part Pamela's pancake and baking mix

couple of shakes of garlic salt

many many shakes of onion powder

salt (but not so much for Sarah)

pepper

If my mom would have had trustworthy seansoned salt or paprika, I would have thrown that in, too.

Dredge in a chicken-butt-cootieless beatened egg, roll in flour mixture, pan fry in canola oil, salt during frying (or not depending on if your name is Sarah or not)

Happy 4th of July everyone!! . . . must go to the store soon and pick up some hamburger. I have invited Peter over for his birthday and I want to be prepared. I'm pretty sure he's going to make the ?? hours of driving to come have a burger with me family.

psawyer Proficient

I figure it would take about 8 hours plus whatever delay I encounter at the border.

Also, I'm at the store, and my passports are at home. Yes, that was plural.

Happy Fourth, everybody!

Today's newspaper has an article on David's brother & family.

A very difficult day for all, I'm certain. :(

Everything seems to remind me of my FIL, lately! You know.....the 80 yr old with the kangaroo scrotum.

Sounds like some sort of affliction, like tennis elbow.

(Could it be a burg in the Outback, monikered along the lines of Moose Jaw?)

He likes to ask company if they want to see his cock!!! ......................( He has a rooster in the backyard)

:o:lol: What a hoot of a coot!

(He won't mind being called a coot I hope)

Well, of course, all the cool celiacs will be there . . . B) . . . YAY!!!! . . . peer pressure works again!!!!

Hey! When is this??

I've really dropped the pace of meeting forum members. :( Was going good for a while there.

Sarah doesn't call ahead to check hotdog bun stock?

(And yikes!!! 3:23am itchies?!!! )

I did pop by my fav PoorHouseBistro for a band last night - 1st time in QUITE a while - but despite drums & guitars sitting onstage, it was just solo piano during my short stay. Eh.

MANY bands today nearby for SJ's America Festival, but just far enough to not want to walk. I'll probably ride a bike over.

I think roomie John and his girlfriend and his 9yo daughter will be here for the fireworks.

I haven't mentioned that his daughter is here for the summer, have I?

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERICANS!!!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER!!!

Happy 4th everyone!!!

What's on everyone's menus for today?

I'm attempting chicken burgers  with carmelized onions, marinated tomatoes, and guacamole, roasted mustard and dill potatoes, and watermelon for dessert.

Sorry Julie about Pamela's. REALLY sorry! Guess you'll have to dirve right into these..Beats a cockpot full of potatoes.

 Lisa! Thank you!

I would love to dive into the choclate, but chocolate is out for me too. Maybe the white chocolate varieties are safe, those look interesting.....

Aw Julie, I know how much you fancy your Pamela's cookies. Remember when we all put our favorite snacks in our avs?

-----------------------

Pretty good--for the first month, I was very strict with it...I'm having sweets (dark chocolate) more often now but still no grains at all and very low sodium.

I remember that Patti! I forever remember Donna's Bumble Bar, what did you put up? Was it something Gluten Free Pantry?

Glad your Edna continues to go well :)

If you take a rooster and roast it to perfection in a slow cooker, wouldn't it in fact be a cock pot? Click here to see a picture of a large cock.

:o

Yep . . . crock tease . . .

:o

Went to Whole Paycheck, I mean Whole Foods tonight, in search of hotdog buns. They were sold out of course. Now I'm contemplating whether I should go back and try again in the morning or not... Ugh. It's an hour drive one way, and they may still be out. I think the boys are going to have to do without. I can make hamburger buns, but they're just doing hotdogs at tomorrow's party. Haven't mastered that shape of bun yet.

I feel the same way about Whole Foods Sarah

For next time, unless you figure out how to make them, buy them ahead and freeze. I learned that around the holidays, always selling out of the essentials, such as the all important buns for the hamburgers and hotdogs, or the pies.

Trying to sort out kitty pic ;)

YAY, wee Boris is on his way!

Hail Queen Nikki!

Beautiful weather here, but no fireworks expected.

Darn210 Enthusiast

Congrats to Queen Nikki. And without trying to sound all brown-noser-ish might I add what a lovely new kitty you have.

Quite cool for July here . . . high of about 75. Was raining earlier but looks like it's done now.

I just joined the local FreeCycle group . . . looking to get rid of some perfectly good items that are only worth something to the right person. I just listed the grass catcher (never used) to the lawnmower that bit the dust two years ago . . . Yeah, I just couldn't throw the bagging attachment away. It had never been used for Pete's sake!!!

Love freecycle!! such a great way to get and give trash :D

Yeah, we were at a park listening to my DD's boyfriend's jazz band when it started to rain. <_< They packed it all up and a little while later the sun came out.

Tom, you're welcome to come to the pitch-in!!!!!!!! It's on July 12 in Carmel, IN. That's only half-way across the country :P

Yes, my sillies - I hope to be a good sovereign to you all with my trusted army of felines by my side :D

I must insist on a few formalities though:

Compulsory use of (capitilized) superflous letters (e.g flavoUr, coloUr, neighboUr)

The continued replacement of the word 'me' for 'my' (e.g I love me kitties)

The taking in of ,and re-homing of as many kitties as possible by ALL sillies

(Jess, I think you're ok on this one ;) )

Congrats to Queen Nikki. And without trying to sound all brown-noser-ish might I add what a lovely new kitty you have.

...an appropriate head dress for HER HighNESS. Of course, yours would be hand crafted from the finest diamonds available and not the commonly use materials fit for the plebeians.

There is a bit of provenance attached to this particular head dress. IT was once owned by Liberace. B)

Morning Sillies, unlike Peter's sunny days we have another cloudy rainy-like day.

Not sure what we have on tap for today either.

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
