Hi Psillies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I have been AWOL (tired, Swedish houseguests staying longer)- not that anyone was yodeling for me! :P:(

I've decided that my Edna goal is to weigh what I put on my driver's license by my birthday. This, of course, raises other issues such as: What do I put on my driver's license? What I think I can con people into believing?

What I want to weigh next year?

Anything I want cause no one ever looks anyway?

That is AWFUL- move to Massachusetts. But maybe after you get rid of the heinous fibroids it will have a favorable effect on ze weigt you vish to loose (I think I am getting a Svedish accent- they call John "Yawn"  But seriously- I really hope you feel better

Toothless!!! . . . and with Man-boobs!!!

Good morning, everyone.

I'm anxiously awaiting pictures too.

Peter wants to see the boobage :o:huh:

This is getting on me last nerve

Patti, why do I have a hard time imagining this? You seem like you have the patience of Mother Teresa!!

Apparently you and Emily's bosoms are waaaaaaay too big and must be reduced to fit into the av.

janet   Again!

Well, bad fibroid week continues. I would NOT recommend the rapid blood loss Edna, she is much to inconvenient. I got so freaked out on Friday that I actually talked to my boss about my period  (He's an MD, a pulmonologist, specifically) Gads.

Got an IV infusion of premarin Friday afternoon and it does seem to have slowed things down considerably, but my brain is toast. I turned the news on and am having a hard time following it. How lame is that.

As soon as the sun hits my (beautifully clean) swing I'm going out to lounge about. You are, therefor forbidden to put up rapid fire avs of the silly summit. Wouldn't want to miss photos of the summit of the century.

Oh Jess- like I said, feel better soon!

Gah- I'm so tired. I'm enjoying Kurt's cousins being here but I seem to now need 2 naps a day. Next Tuesday everyone (including Kurt) is OUTTA here (he's going to SF for a week) and I am going to sleep and then have a party. Everyone- next Saturday 7 pm. Wear your pj's (yes- Ptaum and Peter- you must wear pj's too). We're having a Psilly Psleepover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!

Ok, just googled - 'hurdy gurdy' is a Scandinavian type of fiddle

.....but you have to say it with a (faux) Swedish accent which (I find) is great fun

When abroad in sunny/hot climes at beach resorts 'The English' call all those of Scandinavian descent 'Hurdy Gerdy's'

I am most ( I must confess) wackl today

Nikki, I'm totally falling in love with Boris.:lol: I just want to pick him up and cuddle and kiss and snuggle with him, murmuring gooey baby-talk, like "Oh aren't the cutest, sweetest little fuzzy, cutey-patootey of an English kitty cat..." etc...

A quick phunny from Ezra just now...

"Mom... why did you wanna name me Ezra? Why couldn't you have named me Ice Man, or Hot Rod?"

He is sweet :D

He has settled in...eating loads (he was a rescue kitty..and was very skinny :( ) but doesn't like to be stroked <_< ....he backs off if you try to touch him........so we try to ignore him as much as possible until he's comfortable with us.

I wake up in the morning though and he's next to me on the bed :D - I think he likes the body heat

.....wait  .......am *I* rambling on like an old cat lady???:lol:

Fair question

All right.....all is now back into celestial balance. I have about four loads of laundry to do, the car to clean out, MIL to speak with, dogs and cats to hug and kiss......

But the first thing I do is log on here!!!:lol:

PATTI! Great pic! We look so happy....like we're old friends, just getting together for an traditional evening out. Really, this is what it felt like. :) About fourth on my list is going through the camera and downloading our pics. After I tend to my sick-looking plants and trying to catch up on the Susie situation....

I only wish I'd had more time to keep up with this heartbreaking story while away. I got a shocking update from Patti, then yesterday I quickly read PeOter's post where he said something about being happy with the latest development. I have to get over there and read.....

Hi Em, good to have you back :D

Queen Nicola The Good!

I've missed all of this exciting happenstance...... . . .you have a gorgeous new rescue kitten? Boris is beautiful. Yep, there's nothing like a rescue animal. Nothing can make you feel as wonderful. :)

Except, perhaps, a rescue husband. I got me one of those. Rescued him from a life of redundant pedantry and normalcy...... . . .who knows where he'd be, now.......... . .:rolleyes:

This is so phunny--as Mark and I were sitting in our little rural Starbucks this afternoon, we were takling about how you were most likely home and awash in laundry! We had such a good time with ya'll--just like old friends getting together, as you said.

Yes, much has happened with our Susie, just since I've seen you--I'm sure Peter will fill you in on all of it.

Just think--your own bed tonight!

Halllooooo Sillies!!! Have just got back from a wonderful Celiac potluck dinner at JenVan's parent's house. (A hello to Patti, from Jen.) I have met Lisa and her hair is indeed curly . . . I didn't check to see if it was a wig, though  . Lisa and hubby arrived on a motorscootercycle and I'm quite concerned whether they made it home or if they had to pull off somewhere because we now have a TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR!!! Lisa, I hope you made it!!!

I completely phorgot to bring a camera but Lisa's hubby took a picture so we do have photo evidence of our meeting. I suppose we all have to trust that it is Lisa, 'cause have any of you visited her profile?? It's a picture of a scuba diver . . . and she did not show up wearing a face mask and snorkel, so I just had to trust her when she said she was Lisa.

My daughter was hoping to meet another "Celiac Girl" there, but no such luck. Perhaps next year.

Yes, Janet....a speedy pic, please.

Did you guys take a boob shot, as well?

How superb that there were Sillies meeting everywhere..........

Like a colossal meeting of Great Minds and Spirits........:lol:

BTW......while in NYC, I encountered a waiting-in-the-stall-for-you-to-leave-so-they-can-poop situation. it was on Fifth Avenue, close to Central Park. I went into this public bathroom, and a woman had just entered the second stall as I came in. Sure enough, she was sitting in there for AGES while I peed, pulled up my shorts, flushed and came out. While I was slowly washing and then drying my hands, she continued to just sit there. I could not stand it. As I went to leave, I stood at the door and said, "Well?!"

Nothing.

I then said, "I AM LEAVING. You can poop now".

I am not certain, but I think she swore at me then. And it being New York City, I left. In Ottawa, I would have stuck around to see what she looked like.

And Emily further cements the distinction of "Wacklest of Them All" !!!!!! :D

Aaaarrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Spent forever trying to load the picture onto the computer.....hadn't done it since getting a new computer.......had to reload a program...........then had to fix our complexions.....(the lighting made us red! :o )..............put it in as my new avatar.........typed up my post........and then lost Internet connection!!!!!...and everything I had typed.........then a transformer blew........couldn't get back on for a while, but I'm finally back........so let's try this again.....(although I was quite witty the first time......sorry you missed it! :P )

So anyway, here we are. :D:D .....sorry, no boob shots.

Yes, that is me and myragmop curly hair in desperate need of a new perm. I'm thinking about getting some cut off while I'm at it. And yes, we did make it home before the rain, with dark, ominous clouds following us the entire time :o .........phew!!!....no need for face mask and snorkel.:ph34r:

Not sure what you mean by "soy being like gluten". Soy does not cause a celiac reaction. However, soy is one of the foods that many celiacs don't tolerate well for other reasons. Eggs, corn and dairy are also on that list of foods that many of those with celiac disease seem to be sensitive to. But that doesn't mean that all celiacs are sensitive to any one of them or all of them. It just means it's common. You may not have a problem with soy at all. Celiac disease is not a food allergy. It is an autoimmune response to the ingestion of gluten that creates inflammation in the small bowel lining that, over time, damages that lining.

Hey all  Has anyone on here experienced any of the following on their basic metabolic panel results ? This is what mine is currently flagging : - low sodium  - nearly too low potassium - nearly too low chloride - high CO2  - low anion gap  This is now after being nearly gluten-free for over a year (although I admit I make mistakes sometimes and pay dearly for it). My TtG went down to undetectable. I was so sensitive to so many foods I am now avoiding meat dairy and don’t eat a lot of cooked food in general (raw veggies, white rice, avocados and boiled eggs are my usual go-to meal that doesn’t make me sick). But my abdomen still hurts, i have a range of other symptoms too (headaches that last for days before letting up, fatigue, joint pain, bladder pain). Anyway im hoping my urologist (that’s now the latest specialist I’ve seen on account of the bladder pain and cloudy urine after eating certain foods) will help me with this since he ordered this metabolic panel. But I’m bouncing around a lot between specialists and still not sure what’s wrong. Also went back to the GI doctor and she thought maybe the celiac is just not healed or I have something else going on in the colon and I should have that looked at too. I’m still anemic too BTW. And I’m taking sooo may vitamins daily.

I know I haven't been tested but self diagnosed that by avoiding gluten the past 7 months I feel so much better. I have followed how to eat and avoid gluten and have been good about hidden gluten in products, how to prep gluten-free and flours to use to bake gluten-free and have been very successful. It has been a learning curve but once you get the hang of it and more aware you realize how many places are gluten-free and contamination free practices etc. One thing I have read is how soy is like gluten. How would one know if soy affects you? I have eaten gluten free hershey reeses that say gluten free etc some other snacks say gluten free but contain soy and I dont get sick or soy yogurt no issues. Is there adifference in soys?

Check your multivitamin to see if it contains Thiamine Mononitrate, which is a "shelf-stable" form of thiamine that doesn't break down with exposure to light, heat, and time sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold.  Our bodies have difficulty absorbing and utilizing it.  Only 30% is absorbed and less can be utilized.   There's some question as to how well multivitamins dissolve in the digestive tract.  You can test this at home.  YouTube has instructional videos.   Talk to your nutritionist about adding a B Complex.  The B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is easily excreted if not needed.  Consider adding additional Thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) or thiamine hydrochloride.   Thiamine is needed to help control electrolytes.  Without sufficient thiamine, the kidneys loose electrolytes easily resulting in low sodium and chloride.   We need extra thiamine when we're emotionally stressed, physically ill, and when we exercise regularly, are an athlete, or do physical labor outdoors, and in hot weather.  Your return to activities and athletics may have depleted your thiamine and other B vitamins to a point symptoms are appearing.   The deficiency symptoms of B vitamins overlap, and can be pretty vague, or easily written off as due to something else like being tired after a busy day.  The symptoms you listed are the same as early B vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  I recognize the symptoms as those I had when I was deficient.  It can get much worse. "My symptoms are as follows: Dizziness, lightheaded, headaches (mostly sinus), jaw/neck pain, severe tinnitus, joint stiffness, fatigue, irregular heart rate, post exercise muscle fatigue and soreness, brain fog, insomnia.  Generally feeling unwell." I took a B 50 Complex twice a day and extra thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine and TTFD.  I currently take the Ex Plus supplement used in this study which shows B vitamins, especially Thiamine B 1, Riboflavin B2, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine are very helpful.   A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10542023/

I am taking a multivitamin which is pretty bolstered with B’s.  Additional Calcium, D3, Magnesium, Vit C, and Ubiquinol.  Started Creapure creatine monohydrate in June for athletic recovery and brain fog.  I have been working with a Nutritionist along side my Dr. since February.  My TTG IGA levels in January were 52.8 and my DGP IGA was >250 (I don’t know the exact number since it was so high).  All my other labs were normal except Sodium and Chloride which were low.  I have more labs coming up in Dec.  I make my own bread, and don’t eat a lot of processed gluten-free snacks.
