I just saw over in the OMG thread that it's Julie's birthday!!!

Happy Birthday, Julie :D I hope you have a great, safe birthday cake with all the trimmings!

I posted over there, too, so you'd be sure to see it

Thanks! Boy news sure travels fast from Rachelville to Sillyville, we must be neighboring communities

I didn't end up cooking a thing, or even baking a cake, much too pooped from family being in from out of town this week, but I did have a very nice day. It was gorgeous here, I sat out and lounged in the sun all afternoon (thanks to Edna and Sven I was able to buy a new, smaller size swim suit :D ) and then watched a few movies this evening :)

I'm going to celebrate with family next weekend because everyone was tied up this weekend, so I might attempt my experimental cake then.

And Silly meetings all around! Yay Janet and Lisa, I'm so glad you guys got to meet up, and Jenvan too!

Janet!!!!!! Omg, I just noticed your avatar! Almost spit my water out, that is hee-lair-e-ous :lol:

Great avatar of the Silly Summit, what a group of good looking pholks!

Good to put a face with your name Lisa.....Janet what are you talking about, you don't need Edna

As I went to leave, I stood at the door and said, "Well?!"

Nothing.

I then said, "I AM LEAVING. You can poop now".

(Shrieking with laughter!) OH MAH GAH!!!!! No you DIDN'T!!!

Happy Birthday, Julie!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning, Sillies!

Nice to be back in me own bed, I must say, with cats crawling all over me and substandard poodle noses snuffliing me through the wee hours.

Heaven!

Super pic, Psimultaneous Psilly Psummiters! :)

You both have gorgeous hair, and Janet, you need Edna like I need more laundry...... . . ;):D

Lisa . . . this is EXACTLY what I was talking about . . . How much of this stuff from Emily is actually true???

(((((Gasp)))))).........

I was referenced at your meeting?? B)

DH comments on this all the time - - how my recounted life's events are likely NOT bought by the majority. There is NO way he would believe these things, he assures me, unless he were around to witness the direct evidence.

He DID see me exit said washroom quickly, with a bemused smile on my face. When I told him about what I had said aloud in there, he was not particularly amused....more concerned and anxious. "You don't go saying stuff like that, phunny (okay, he didn't say phunny....he said funny) as it may be, in a huge, don't-mess-with-me-city like New York".......

Ah, to be niave, and silly!!!:lol::rolleyes:

At least I didn't walk around this behemoth city with my huge urine container in tow.

......Or did I?...........

These pictures are so great! It's nice that people can meet up now and again.

Jules! Happy Birthday!!

Em, I so want to believe that you told that woman to poop.

I feel a bit better after lying around all day yesterday. I haven't done that since the good ol' gluten days. Today is my me methotrexate reaction day, so I'm not expecting to get much done today, either.

I'm hoping to at least manage to get my me new crock pot washed and throw something in it to cook. Didn't realize you're supposed to fill it at least half full. Guess I'll be making a lot of whatever.

Further Psilly summits of which I knew NOTHING ?!?! (Janet, Lisa, Jenvan = sneaky) :D

Emily regailing tails of trying to get herself killed :o in a New York toilet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o:lol:

"Rescue husband" heeheehee

And how much of THIS holds true for a rescue husband??:P

He has settled in...eating loads (he was a rescue kitty..and was very skinny :( ) but doesn't like to be stroked <_< ....he backs off if you try to touch him........so we try to ignore him as much as possible until he's comfortable with us.

I wake up in the morning though and he's next to me on the bed :D - I think he likes the body heat

Well now that you mention it I did 'rescue' Terry  (I dunno if he'd agree ;) ) ....and he was pretty skinny when I met him (stupid celiac disease  )

BUT oddly enough he doesn't back off when touched :lol:

He is next to me when I wake up though :lol:

'Rescued Tel' is busy painting Al's room.......Al is away for the weekend and we have to finish the painting while he's not here as it makes him throw up !! :o :greenguy:

Tel then has to fit a 'cat-flap' to the back door as I'm fed up with bloomin' cats meowing

I must do some ironing <_<

GADS!!!!>>>>Life is one big chore !!!!!!!!!

Hey, where's BEV???

Sleeping???, Svenning, entertaining Swedes OR playing a 'Hurdy Gurdy' ????

Gawd Jess.....not such a magical weekend fer you :( Those phibroids are nasty buggers--I was plagued by them for years. Now the drug reaction on top of it all--you poor thing. Definately take care of yourself and get lots of rest on yer clean swing....

I have a large oval (6 quart, maybe?) c®ock pot and usually don't end up filling it halfway. It just cooks quicker with less in it, I've found.

What? Jess has a clean swing? The languishing men are no longer draped over the outdoor furniture? I'm struggling to remember - - were they not Swedes? ....Did they serenade her while strumming hurdy gurdies?:lol:

Jess, I'm sorry about the blasted phibroids. They can be hell....... :(

Nikki! STOP this thing called ironing! Wear yer clothes in their natural, washed state - - wrinkled and charming. :)

:( Gawd....

Jestgar Rising Star

There were fun moments yesterday. Since I was outside I left the door open so the cats could come out. Every now and then Lefty would jump up on the swing, put his paws around my neck and drool in my ear. Actually both ears, he likes to make sure he's given the full value of his hug.

And last night I was giving Lyle some catnip from my big container of 'nip. He likes to eat it right out of the jar so I was sitting on the floor holding it for him. Suddenly he sticks his paw in and scoops out half the contents onto a pile on the floor which he then plops into. I tried to scoop up most of it but every time I put my hand there he'd pounce on me (cutely, he's a nice cat). So Lyle is covered in dried green leaves (he rolls on it too) which he brings with him to bed (maybe that's why I slept so well, a little inhaled 'nip) and my bedroom carpet has little leaves all over it. I just noticed that Max is walking around covered in little green leaves, and undoubtedly Lefty is having a mellow day as well.

Maybe if I just wait long enough everything'll be snuffled up and I won't have to vacuum. Or p'raps I should try rolling in it. Maybe the cats know something we don't...

jerseyangel Proficient

Ya know Jess, considering how you're feeling and all--maybe a roll in the stuff isn't such a bad idea! :P

Couldn't hurt :D

So it's Patti wiv 'er boobs out then???

...and OMG!! Patti's got a little 'R' fing for her Crockpot?????.......WHERE IS MINE?????

Em, took yer advice and have done no mining ironing - creases IT IS!!!!!! :o

Jess, YES!! You MUST roll in catnip and discover it's secrets!!

My cats seem totally nonplussed by it

Meanwhile the two older cats eye the 'catflap' suspiciously like this ----->

In fact, I'm sure I heard Lucy (who is a little ahem rotund) say to Will:

''If they think I'm squeezing myself through that they are deluded!! - I shall continue meowing to enter''

Decided instead of the ironing to have a clear out and EBAY it - I am still sorting the pics but it's mainly eldest son's tatt

(don't tell him I'm selling his clothes that he bought ;) )

Wow! Queen Nik's cat's are curiously formal in their manner of speech. Is it their royal parentage? Or the mere britishness of their lives that elicit this behaviour?

Mygawd, watching my cats upon the introduction of catnip is wondrous........

It is their absinthe.........no question.....

You have no idea........Once you meet Patti, you truly begin to see and feel the power she quietly wields. It is awesome to behold. She held everyone at Starbucks powerless in her grip...... . . .:lol:

Remember the two-page change-up coup 300 pages ago?.......I believe we all know who silently orchestrated that forum magic.......

@knitty kitty  The information you've provided is invaluable!  I have a lot more homework to do before we make the official switch but you have significantly increased my hope that we can get her off Miralax (she started at 3 years old and is almost 8!).  This weekend my husband and I plan to solidify all the details for a start point, then adjust as we go along.  I realize that everyone's body is different, then there's also the fact that she's a child but just out of curiosity if you don't mind sharing and if you'd rather not, no problem at all-how long did you take Miralax before switching and when you switched, did you just completely stop the Miralax or was there a period where you did Miralax and the supplements?  I plan to research that piece this weekend but just curious what you did.

Scott, thanks so much for the thoughtful replies. My doctor did actually just re-order thyroid labs to see what is going on with my TPOs. I agree that will be interesting information.  I think I know the answer to this, but as far as the biopsy . . .. that would be quite conclusive as far as celiac goes, but a negative result would not rule out NCGS, correct? Does NCGS also cause damage to the lower intestine/leaky gut?  I appreciate the thought that I should be open-minded to other causes. I did not have dysautonomia on my radar, so I will look into that. From a quick scan at the potential symptoms it seems like almost anyone could convince themselves they have it, very broad! I can see why that is a tricky one to diagnose. I did also show low vitamin D, I'm in New England so that is somewhat common. I have a memory of low iron on some lab result as well but I can't find it, so I'll look into that. My cholesterol is high too, so working on that.  While the initial adjustment was tough, I have actually adapted fairly well to going gluten-free at home. The tough part for me is I love eating out and traveling, so that has been a challenge. I suppose if the answer ends up being NCGS then I could maintain a mostly gluten-free diet but also experiment with the occasional splurges. Snowboarding just doesn't feel right without a beer in the lodge . . ... cider is just not the same!  Thanks again.

I did some research and found out that vaccines put preservatives, sugar alcohols and metals in them. Which I have a intolerance too.  I was supposed to do testing to find out metal's I was allergic to because I can't  wear jewelry of any kind. Mayo felt I had other allergies also.
    • Scott Adams
For individuals who have experienced negative reactions to the flu vaccine, there are alternative formulations that may reduce the risk of allergic responses. Traditional flu vaccines are typically produced using egg-based methods, which can pose issues for those with egg allergies. However, there are now several egg-free options available, such as cell-based and recombinant flu vaccines. Recombinant Vaccines (e.g., Flublok Quadrivalent): These are produced without the use of eggs and are grown in insect cells, making them a suitable option for individuals with egg allergies. Cell-Based Vaccines (e.g., Flucelvax Quadrivalent): These vaccines are also egg-free and are produced using mammalian cell cultures, which can be a safer alternative for those with egg allergies. Other Considerations: If you have had a reaction to a specific component of the flu vaccine (e.g., gelatin, preservatives, or antibiotics), discussing your medical history with a healthcare provider is crucial. They can help identify vaccines that exclude these ingredients. It's important to consult with an allergist or healthcare provider to determine the safest option based on your specific allergies and medical history. They can also provide guidance on pre-vaccination testing or desensitization protocols if necessary. Also, at @trents mentioned, could you be getting hidden gluten in your diet? Do you eat in restaurants? If so, this could be why you still have high gluten antibodies.
    • Dawn Meyers
Mayo is great and yes I had the same experience.  They take you seriously and they check everything.  I to wish other Dr's cared that much. I sure hope it's not refractory celiac also.
