Morning Sillies

Another Monday another work week....it is rough for me I had a few days off....but alas here I am again. Our cat has been acting strange since we got home Saturday night...so we might end up taking him to the vet. Last night I woke up at 3:30 in the morning and he was curled up in a ball sleeping in between my legs, I am a side sleeper. I knew he had been there since 1...and when I moved positions he just moved with me. I woke up though since he made me too warm since I sleep with a blanket on...John loves to crank the central air!

So its off to start some work now.

Bye Sillies!

:blink::huh: Sounds like another thread is invading Sillyville again!!

Yeah--it's safe here....and I just had to say it

What thread is this? I wanna see!

Their pilot flew a huge craft in the shape of a NYC yellow cab about 100 metres above the Ottawa River before it crashed into the drink. Second prize went to a flying lighthouse

Into the drink! My mom says that, such a great phrase.

Johnsmom's cracking me up! I, unlike Em, do constantly inspect what comes out of my nose (as well as my children's noses.) I think it comes from having chronic sinus infections. There's a whole color code, you know.

Clear/white is always ok.

Yellow usually means I've been dusting a lot.

Brown is evidence that I've been helping my dad in the woodworking shop.

Mellow green means a sinus infection has arrived.

Neon green means the pine pollen is high.

I must admit, although I liked both of them very much, I was slightly leaning towards Matt. I think because I thought he was a little more at ease on camera.

We enjoyed the show, though--what did you think of it?

Did you watch the Designer's Challenge (?) right after?

Gawd yes! (shudders)....there was a period of time shortly after I went gluten-free that this would happen to me too. :o I would be fine one minute, and then I literally had about 10 seconds to get to the bathroom.....I always made it IN there, but not always in time to get me jeans down

Thank Gawd that this didn't last long fer me--poor Judy having it last months :(

I remember those days, I was working at the time and the bathroom was not only in the back of the lab but I could not leave my area unattended....I called off alot that spring/summer. It was another year and I got my job here. Besides that day in March and last Weds....those were my 2 call-offs in 2008. What a few years can do. I almost feel like myself again....I missed me!!!!!

Fathers and phunny clothing......

How many of you have lived with the abomination of white socks with oxfords? Mygawd, the absolute bane of my mother's existence, and something she stopped my father from doing well before I was born. But I have heard about it constantly thoughout my life, during the many times we would happen by a man wearing this dreaded combination, often with dark pants (the crowning heinosity)

Well at least he hasn't worn sandals with socks....... ....has he????

Gaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. I have a little whispering voice right now, barely able to speak. Thank you SO MUCH for this, Jess. Your perfect, wise words will be passed along to Jack as I will show them to him. This is fitting for your poignant message of passing along life's great things.

Dad is a tremendous gift, simply with old, tattered wrapping. 'Tis so true. :)

I liked them both too! There were alot of really nice likeable contestants this season I thought, the only one I didn't like was that one girl, see don't even remember her name  I was actually kind of shocked Trish didn't make it to the final though.

I would have been happy with whoever won last night.

I missed Designer's Challenge because I watch Army Wives at that time, but I am sure they will reair it sometime and I'll try to catch it then, it looked interesting.

Tom, I just read the article. That sounds really neat what they are doing to honor your brother. Are you going to be able to go to the dedication ceremony?

How are you doing with all the new supplements?

tom Contributor

Oy .. ..now they don't know when the rockcutter will finish turning that boulder into a bench. Seems like no chance of holding to the original Aug8 scheduled dedication.

If I were back to work already, I think I'd be going up, but at this point it feels fiscally irresponsible. :(

Just finally started all the supps yesterday :) - couldn't wait any longer for possible adverse effects from the milk in the one. Seems ok, so off we go.

I might have to get back into the OMG thread. ;)

I was just re-reading the article, Ptaoughmghmn....just a terrific story. Pat sounded like a man that everybody would love to get to know. :)

Perhaps if the dedication is held off for a while, you may get there...(?)... .. .

Did you guys see that Christina Applegate has breast cancer? I was reading that this morning. She is very young for that type of cancer.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
    • Lkg5
Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
