Just here for a sec... sent Susie an email that she can pass on.

I wish I could say I'm doing ok... I hate dragging people down... but it's been pretty bad. Crying nonstop... The kids aren't doing well either. If I never saw this coming, you know they didn't by about a thousand times more.

Sarah - don't know what to say. Our hearts are breaking for you. If there is anything we can do . . . let us know.

Peace and Strength to you and your boys.

I always struggle for something, anything, meaningful, helpful, or comforting to say at moments like this....... .. . but there is no way words can convey the sadness we are feeling for you, Sarah. Thank you SO MUCH for that email - - I cannot imagine the strength it took to simply sit and type out a coherent letter while you're in this state of mind. Your strength humbles me......

Love you and miss you!:wub:

Oh sweetie- like Jess said, you can do it.

A former board member here said "When God shuts a door, he opens a window; you just have to get down the hallway" Smart guy.

The hallway isn't very nice right now, but you can do it. You can cry- you should- you're grieving and shocked. And tired. And devastated. It's OK- we all would be. But you are gonna make it.

We're here for you

Alright so I went to the Dr after work....it was the walk-in clinic at the hospital, you know that one that I hate going too since they caused my chest congestion to go to full bronchitis since they didnt treat well....after the wait for over an hour and 30 mins the dr finally comes in touches my foot....looks at it and says It appears to be ok, your toes are probably going numb from tissue brusing and we cant X-ray since the X-ray machine is down but I can give you an X-ray slip and you can come back tomorrow if "You" feel you need an X-ray......

So I left, hopefully it will hurt less and I wont be going there again! Healthcare Pi**es me off!

Patti!  He did!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, the LIFELONG MYSTERY is SOLVEd!!!!!!! It's all he could talk about in his letter - er, SEVERAL letters he wrote to me.....about this young girl he had waved to.....he just could NOT get her out of his mind..........who knew that, years later, *I* would find you!!!!!!!!!!!

Our next Edna?

 WHAT IN HELL????????????? Look at his BREAKFAST. And - a POUND of pasta???? OMG. Note, no vegetables at all.....any fruit? we HAVE to talk to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

B@$#@^d!!!! indeed! <_<

But - 30 hours a week in a pool? I.......almost.........can't.........think........of anything.........more boring. Except, shampooing the carpet. Except, remember this - when you're shampooing the carpet, you can DRINK..........I do not believe you can DRINK whilst swimming. Hence, the most COMPLETE CRASHING BORE there is.  Not only left alone wif one's Dingo thoughts, but UNDER WATER.

Soooozie, didn't you say that you have a collection of ribbons that you have tied around tables at your place, and on the end of the ribbons are....things that get lost.....magnifying glasses er sumfin'? Check one of those ribbons......Nothing would surprise me with you!

*snooooooooort*

excellent memory, Most Wackl. Well, there was only ONE ribbon....tied to my desk. But my desk is now my makeup table and my old kitchen table is now my desk. So......there is this one ribbon - I JUST REMOVED IT YESTERDAY!!!!!!! - that was tying a pair of magnifiers to my desk. Alas, no ribbons with keys.

But.........mystery solved. I realized that Lauren and Matt had taken care of Weezee when I had to go up for the funeral, seven weeks ago.

craziest thing is, I called her today and said - do you have my key? her response was this  and she said.....

~ why would I have your house key?

~didn't you take care of Weez when I was gone?

~yessssss............. but we left the key under the mat.

~what? why didn't you tell me?

~I DID tell you.

So........the key has been under the mat this whole time. And, I didn't even REMEMBER them staying here, anything........it was all such a blur.....I had to ask her, "did you guys stay here to take care of Annie?" she reminded me that they picked her up and took her over there for the night........

 'twas all a blur but.........now I have my housekey back

At a Jimmy Cliff concert a few years ago, I got to meet him (he kissed me on the cheek!). Invited him over for dinner. He politely declined

 excellent

I saw The Tubes when I was about 20.......stood on the front and center table at the concert. Fee Waybill kissed me on the cheek. ha ha

Saw Dave Wakeling (of English Beat and Special Beat Service) perform many times in Monterey. Asked if they'd perform at my wedding. "when are you getting married?" he asked. "oh, I haven't met him yet.....but I"ll let you know when I do."

Ok if all else fails try this. I am reading the prequel to Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood and they mention St Anthony's Prayer for Lost Objects......St Anthony St Anthony won't you look around, something has been lost and it must be found. Maybe it only works if you are Catholic, not sure

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

Judy! You need to pull a Susie, here - - you get some ribbon, and you tie a magnifying glass to one end of it, and affix the other end to your writing desk. Then it's no big deal if you misplace your glasses, as you will always have the magnifier safely tied at your reading desk to look through. Think that's how it went........right, Soozle?:lol:

You might consider asking for a referral to a RD (Registered Dietician) to help with food choices and planning a diet. Even apart from any gluten issues, you will likely find there are some foods you need to avoid because of the shorter bowel but you may also find that your system may make adjustments over time and that symptoms may improve.
    • Ello
I wish Dr’s would have these discussions with their patients. So frustrating but will continue to do research. Absolutely love this website. I will post any updates on my testing and results.  Thank you

Losing 12" of your small bowel is going to present challenges for you in nutritional uptake because you are losing a significant amount of nutritional absorption surface area. You will need to focus on consuming foods that are nutritionally dense and also probably look at some good supplements. If indeed you are having issues with gluten you will need to educate yourself as to how gluten is hidden in the food supply. There's more to it than just avoiding the major sources of gluten like bread and pasta. It is hidden in so many things you would never expect to find it in like canned tomato soup and soy sauce just to name a few. It can be in pills and medications.  Also, your "yellow diarrhea, constipation and bloating" though these are classic signs of a gluten disorder, could also be related to the post surgical shorter length of your small bowel causing incomplete processing/digestion of food.
    • Ello
Yes this information helps. I will continue to be pro active with this issues I am having. More testing to be done. Thank you so much for your response.
    • trents
There are two gluten-related disorders that share many of the same symptoms but differ in nature from each other. One is known as celiac disease or "gluten intolerance". By nature, it is an autoimmune disorder, meaning the ingestion of gluten triggers the body to attack it's own tissues, specifically the lining of the small bowel. This attack causes inflammation and produces antibodies that can be detected in the blood by specific tests like the TTG-IGA test you had. Over time, if gluten is not withheld, this inflammation can cause severe damage to the lining of the small bowel and even result in nutrient deficiency related health issues since the small bowel lining is organ where all the nutrition found in our food is absorbed.  The other is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity or just "gluten sensitivity") which we know less about and are unsure of the exact mechanism of action. It is not an autoimmune disorder and unlike celiac disease it does not damage the lining of the small bowel, though, like celiac disease, it can cause GI distress and it can also do other kinds of damage to the body. It is thought to be more common than celiac disease. Currently, we cannot test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out to arrive at a diagnosis of NCGS. Both disorders require elimination of gluten from the diet.  Either of these disorders can find their onset at any stage of life. We know that celiac disease has a genetic component but the genes are inactive until awakened by some stress event. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% develop active celiac disease. The incidence of NCGS is thought to be considerably higher. I hope this helps.
