Good Crazy Phriday Morning, Psillies!

Whadderyer call this day? Black Phriday? Green Phriday? Crowds of marauding shoppers descending on the malls.........heinous, 'twould be, fer me. . . . ..

Ummmmm . . . Bloody Friday???

We don't venture out on this day to anything resembling a mall or department store of any kind. I do need to run out for a prescription (FOR THE DOG!!!) a little later but that's it and I can just go through the drive through. The rest of the time shall be spent foruming, reading and pecking picking at the leftover turkey.

I don't know where exactly Nikki is either  her Spacebook says London, but she could be around London, or near it.

Nik is so cool B) "Around London" sounds so cosmopolitan to someone in Pennsylvania

well, pooh :(

Poor Lisa-h....lepht all alone in the 'ville last night. I had to get to bed--me eyes were closing :P

Paddeigh!!!!!!!!!!!! :) AND two glasses of wine!

Sooz--I swear to gawd, as my second glass was being poured, I thought "this would please Souczie":lol:

I'm so happy that you had a glorious, joyphul day--did me 'art good to hear this, too, after the year you had. Like our wise Jess put it--it's all behind you now and out of the way. :D

Ummmmm . . . Bloody Friday???

I've never like the term "Black Friday"--sounds so negative and sad :(

I never shop on the day after Thanksgiving, either.....some stores opened at 4AM today--the malls at 6 :o

DingoGirl Enthusiast

HAPPY BLACK PHRIDAY SILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

(does not sound right)

At least you got it out of the way. The rest of us still possibly have our worst year to look forward to

I'm hoping mine entails a near death experience involving vodka and a men's wet t-shirt contest.

:lol: I am not sure what this really means but......am liking the sound of it.........

Good Morning Sillies!

Welcome to the start of the Christmas shopping season.....my butt is at work. I love working today :) There are only 4 of us here....my boss has left me in charge...what was she thinking?????? :P:P Today is the day where we just relax in the office and chill....very nice.

Our Thanksgiving was very nice. We had a great day at my moms. The food was sooo good! I am getting ready to get the receptionist at John's Dr's office fired. He has been off his blood pressure medication for over a week now. So he kept calling the DR's office and this woman never told him the dr was on vacation and she never pushed the message onto a nurse--she just kept saying you cannot be seen until 12/6 and you need to have bloodwork drawn and see the dr before you get ANY meds...we will not give you a few pills to get by until the appt.....so by Friday night John was wheezing and feeling sicker than hell. He had this massive headache and this pain in his arm. Well by Monday his feet were swollen and he is retaining water real bad. So he is still not getting through to the Dr's office...finally he gets through on the emergency line and speaks with a nurse. She hurries and gets him a script. he takes the Diovan and that was Tuesday. His feet are still swollen real bad today and they hurt but overall he looks like hell.....white as a ghost..

So talking with a nurse here....John could have died on us over the weekend....this has lots of consequences....

Someone is going to get in trouble for this! I am Pi$$Ed!!!!!

How is everything else with you guys?

Morning Sillies

Gosh Amanda, your post was so scarey! I'd be the Dr. won't be happy with this at all. You can sure count your blessings with Dad better and John still alive. This is just so uncalled for. Keep us posted on him. Glad you and the other sillies all had a good day

Psilly!! :P I'm simply guessing that you'd phly from California due northeast, hitting Canada's east coast before heading over the Atlantic... . . Unless you were to head west, over the Pacific, then north for a long time. . . . . ..not sure. Howevah, methinks your phlight would involve time over here, and Newfoundland would be the province you'd need to refuel. . . maybe. .. . ...

You would LOOOOOVE Newfoundland!!!

convenient! but - probably fairly difficult for me to hand my 65-pound Weasel out the car window and into their office - would they walk 'round to her side and perform it all in the front seat of car? Excellent idea - avoiding Veterinary Office Panic..........

Would LOVE to spend time in Newfoundland and.....how far is that from Prince Edward Island? have been aching to go there for many years, esp. since dating this wackl British Naval Officer whilst living in Monterey - he was from Poole, south of England, eh Nik? and - they spent their summers in PEI........ *dreamysigh*

Mygawd!!! Where's Nikerler???!

Well I'm here ain't I ??....... am I ??

Sudden turn of events: Will's great Aunt, who lived in Cheriton-Near-Aylesford, an incredibly beautiful little hamlet just outside of Winchester, England, passed away a couple of days ago.

I am sorry to hear this :(

....but wait...

Will knew that he should try to get there for the funeral.....so he began surfing the net for air fare deals. Well..... . . he got an incredible price on a return, non-stop flight leaving Dec. 9th for six nights. So good was the price (probably because it's now off-season) that he's decided to take The Ripper with him.

NIKKI!!!! How close are you to London?????? They will be staying at the Citadines Trafalgar for three of those nights.... . .. ..could we have another mini-psummit??

OMG!!!!! I am about 14 miles away...... maybe just over an hour on the tube!!!!!

But, wait. . . . . ..

Um....I won't be there.

I WANNA COME!!!!!!!! :(:(

OH cRAP AND A$$HAT  ...YOU must!!!!!!!.... I INSIST!!!!!!!!!

<Em's menfolk will be but a bus ride away :o .....should I be askeert???>

I don't know where exactly Nikki is either  her Spacebook says London, but she could be around London, or near it. Nikki, where are you?!?!?!?!?!

 You nut!!!!

I am in East London, right on the border as East London goes into the county of Essex..........um actually me town's called 'Barking'

Oh, so sorry about Will's aunt :( but.........I WANNA COME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would it be odd if I showed up at this funeral? Crashed at Nik's, borrowed her car, drove over? And brought Nik et al wif me? Ask Will if this would be okay.....

:lol::lol:

Drive me car????

What with the steering wheel being on the wrong side, 'roundabouts' , and a gear box it could turn out to be quite the white knuckle ride...... but wait!!!! I DO have a 7 seater ......Susie'll love Wincester!!!!! (I have been before)

I'm wif ya on that plan, Soooz. I'll meet you at your touchdown in Newfoundland, and we'll head tro Nik's from there. .. . . .. ;)

I love a goil wiv a plan............ and remember....... what happens in London, stays in London ;)

Has yer Geordie NorthUmbrian MIL arrived yet???

Well, Greater London is roughly circular with a diameter of about 30 miles, so you can be 14 miles from the center and still be inside the boundary. Nikki is in the east end. It is a big metropolis.

Of course, the actual City of London is roughly one square mile in the center of it all.

Gee, tis quiet here today, both here in sillyville and at our store. Maybe everybody ran off to shop in Buffalo!

I am embarrassed to tell you what Weezee has done now. Embarrassed and really quite sad and disappointed.

WEll, this morning I mixed me yams/two kinds of potatoes/green beans/corn into little patties, made my DELISH version of the bubble and squeak. Had tons of remaining mixture in a mixing bowl, for the next three days.

Got a phone call, a friend was very close to my house, so I DASHED out to meet for coffee. I left Weezee OUTSIDE - with the heavy glass sliding door DECIDEDLY SHUT. (you all know where this is going)

So - was gone a couple of hours. Get home and find that - the sliding door is OPEN. And, the gigantic yellow mixing bowl is on the floor, and my remaining concoction, the rest of the mixture for the yummy bubble and squeak, for DAYS TO COME, is GONE.

So - now I cannot figure out whether I left it on the counter? what in hell? Why would I do that? or - whether she can actually get into the fridge now.........but - if that is the case, there are other things in there she could have gotten. Am flummoxed.

I am soooooooooo sad that nearly all me leftovers are gone......................and you should have seen teh sassy face she wore when I walked in.......and just how low she was crouched to the ground....................

He was from Poole. Then later got the very cush assignment of Naval Postgraduate School - Monterey. He did love it. Imported - get this - his Lotus Elise to the US and drove that parrot green thing around on weekend. I was embarrassed to be seen in it. And, BTW, NO women ever checked him out in that car - only guys.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
