Sounds like crazy weather al the way around. Twas snowing and in the 30s 40s here, and today it's 68 degrees ....tomorrow cold and snowy again :blink:

I would also like to say I read everything and take it all in, but often don't get it all commented on and sometimes (ok a lot of the time) details get lost in the shuffle but I am always thinking about all of you :wub:

Ok, I am in trouble. I have discovered Archer Farms Caramel Corn Clusters. Sold at Target. On sale this week. So good. Very evil.

(I am pretty sure they are gluten-free, no gluten ingredients and wheat is not listed in the allergy info, but not sure of cc issues)

This is SOOOOO true, Joooolie!! I so agree wif you on all of this. Sometimes I'll be out running about, or teaching, or driving, and I'll suddenly think, "Gawd! How is Amanda's John and her dad doing?? And Bev - - I haven't asked about her in too long! Haven't heard from Ptaoughmghmn in a few days.....must ask about him....."

I'm always thinking about all of you Psillies, too! :wub:

My psillies cheer me when it seems nothing else can- can you believe we have over 1500 PAGES of pure laughter and support. All of us have been through a LOT yet we go on, laughing and cheering one another. It's pretty special :wub: :wub: :wub:

Mygawd, everyone's freezing and under blankies . . .. .....

It is a smidgen below freezing, here -- a bit of light snow coming down.....quite lovely, and the sun was shining today. \

Except when I had my thyroid issues. man, I was FROZEN whilst sitting on the beach in June .. . . .... :huh:

Yep- me too. FROZEN for 4 years and now I'm warm again- tis wonderous. But I still love me blankies!

Nikki- Not man phlugh.....and menses. It must have something to do with the fact that you can see Jupiter and Venus right next to the moon. It must be making thinngs wackl :(

well, my fingertips are blue....... :blink: why is it....it feels freezing in here? ('tis 68 now and *I* am wearing a big ugly fuzzy zippered and hooded fleece....slippers on, still cold....

Ugghhh.......can't stand it meself. We've been trying to keep the furnace set just below 70. Must wear 2 pairs of socks, an extra sweatshirt and 2 blankies whilst watching TV. :angry:

On the odd occasion, I find myself sitting alone in the ho' tub at night, and I'll suddenly picture all me Psillies sitting on the jetted seat rests all around me. It's a very tight squeeze, but SO wunnerful.. . . . .

Okay.....I'm going to get wrapped in my blankie. . . . . router's broken so I cannot use the laptop by the TV....must poop in here on our main computer, in our cold, leathery, masculine, freezing-feeling office.... ....... ... ..

Although once I did place periods between my symbols and then colored them white, but I don't think that's the actual way to do it :P

Jeeze, I skimmed over this part after being dazzled by the sparkley snowphlakes :P

I'm always up fer frizz control talk......been fighting it forever <_< Ya know, when I used to get highlights, it seemed to make me hair behave better--less phrizz. Strange but true B)

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you...

      thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks! i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me b...

      Let me suggest an adjustment to your terminology. "Celiac disease" and "gluten intolerance" are the same. The other gluten disorder you refer to is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which is often referred to as being "gluten sensitive". Having said that, the reality is there is still much inconsistency in how people use these terms. Since celiac disease...

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.

      thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks!   i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me by someone with celiac. unfortunately my first appointment isn’t until February 17th. do you think i should go gluten free now or wait until after i meet with the new doctor? i’m torn about what i should do, i dont know if she is going to want to repeat the endoscopy, and i know ill have to be eating gluten to have a positive biopsy. i could always do the gluten challenge on the other hand if she does want to repeat the biopsy.    thanks again, i appreciate the support here. i’ve learned a lot from these boards. i dont know anyone in real life with celiac.

Since celiac disease does damage to the small bowel lining it often results in nutritional deficiencies such as anemia. NCGS does not damage the small bowel lining so your history of anemia may suggest you have celiac disease as opposed to NCGS. But either way, a gluten-free diet is in order. NCGS can cause bodily damage in other ways, particularly to neurological systems.
