What you need is a son that will wear 10 pairs of pants and 14 shirts every week . . . he does try to make up for it though, by wearing only one pair of underwear!!!

Mygawd.....this must cross the realm of Son-dom the world over - - the Ripper is exactly like this. He's A BOY.....why does he go through five outfits a day??? And yes. . . .. not many pairs of undies. . . .. ... <_<

. . . he wrote a song, played it on his gee-tar and sang (quite well) and it was heelarryus. It's on a video tape somewheres. I should ask to see it next time at her house.

You could be very surprised, Jeeah-gnitt: punch his name into a youtube search . . .. you may not need to send Bev over there. . . . . . ..:lol:

Cannot stop looking at that heart-wrenching avatar of Soooozie's. . . Li'l P curled into the crook of Weezie's bum, his little face burrowed in for warmth.....

MYGAWD!!! :wub::wub: CANNOT STAND IT!!!

Wonder how our Pahdeee is faring. .. .. . . ...do you think she's cried yet?

Of course she has. ... . ....

I kept reading Teereesa's posts (via Gmail) and had to poop in too. She has such a way with words!

OMG-Freaky Best Man is hee-larious!

Glad to see Auntie Judy back..... :D

Thinking about Paddeigh...goodbyes are So hard but I always try to remind myself that they wouldn't be hard if you never loved. For Gad's sake, I cried when I left England, never mind my sons. ((((((HUGS Paddeigh))))

Em...glad Dad is hanging tough.

Janet....thinking about your mom.

Wow Bevvie--it all sounds so wonderphul.....except the part where you phlew through the air and skidded down the road! :o My gawd--I'm just so relieved you're ok!

Glad yer back :D

It was a GREAT GREAT trip. A wee bit of post-trip depression sinking in. Plotting how I can get paid to travel (write? photograph?).

Tareeeesuh, I must commend you....I'm so sorry about you still being sick. I'd have never known, as you are so positive, phunny and hilarious. You and Bev inspire me, as do all others who quietly deal with their illnesses and stay happy. . ....

You GO, Grrrrrrrl!! :):)

Em

Some days the only way to survive and get through it to find the positives....and as much silly as possible. I am so very grateful for all of you.....

 TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!!!!!! we are just sick with love and cuteness over here

This whole experience was just unbelievable, but with such a happy ending, and my babies are in love  BTW the vet bill was only $200 instead of $800, I could not afford that and had to make one of the hardest decisions in my life - I have NEVER denied my pets full care. :( (remember, I paid a couple thousand for chemo for my beloved Stinker) so - I left LITTLE PSILLY TROOPER PEANUT there, with many friends and loved ones praying, and he made it.

:):):) x 1 million

BTW, my stepfather, the kindest man (they have three cats with whom they are obsessed) said he INSISTS on paying for any care that I cannot afford should anything ever happen again. *sniff*

:) :gratefulsnivelingsmile:

Loved yer whole post, Bevel :) have fun with the Goonies et al! BTW how is your dad getting along wif Angus2 ?

oh - Paddeigh's goodbyes - - I can't stand it :( Be strong, darling Padt!

Shall we all pray together and focus our thoughts that those boys just decide to UP AND MOVE to Texas?????

OK...count me in!!! :D We need to figger out a way for a group to travel together....tropical climes in the winter...we're allowed to do the northern climes in summer. Of course...working in all of these locales would make it difficult to decide on vacation spots!:lol: And of course...there has to be room for pets and families (notice I put the pets first?) All we need to do now is decided what we're doing and how to get paid for it! Several of us can write/photograph, somebody does lectures...hmmmmm what else?

Well, yes Leeza... sign language is imperative to include those who cannot hear...we definitely need to invite them to our lectures (and you can teach me while we're on the road). We DO need scuba people, too for those types of pics. And Bev-really....editors are a must for those who are writing! Of course, of course!!:lol:

Evening Sillies-

so much to comment on--

Susie so glad Peanut is doing well. Love the new av. I would say puppy love but its kitty/puppy love :)

Patti- such an emotional time indeed. We are here for you, (((HUGS))) I suppose you are back from NY by now. We both traveled on I-81 Saturday, maybe we passed each other!

I spent the weekend with my family. It was nice. My sister is 2 months away from her baby's arrival.

It is 3 months from the big FL trip to take my mom on a mini-vacation! Exciting!

OMG this was my Monday morning laugh! Lovin It!

Sillies- I am here at work again--feels like I was just here! Weekends should be 3 days! Oh Queen can we arrange something?

John is home sick again with stomach pains--it has been happening quite frequently in the last months kinda getting worried about him, he was told the first time it was the stomach flu, at first I thought it was gas pains, cause that can be unbearable...but it seems to keep coming back. What keeps coming up in the back of my mind is that 3 years ago when he was at the oncologist they ran this one lab test by mistake--I want to say it was a CEA level, which is a colon cancer marker and it came back high....so they assured him it was a fluke, I did research and found that smoking can elevate that level and at the time he was smoking....it just scares me. He says he hasn't had any change in the bathroom and all but what else could explain the pains....I am just worried...

Must mention- yesterday in the warm weather John and I took a stroll through the back yard to assess it's potential and all the work we need to do to it. I have decided I am going to have a garden this year- My first ever! I am going to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and hopefully lettuce. I want some sunflowers by the porch and in the front of the house I am going to plant flowers. I am so excited!

Anyone have any good tips for me?

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
