SILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

had one hour of shut-eye and am still feeling the wackl, and completely delirious

I see the mirth has been carried on valiantly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, SO much like the action goin' on at the retirement home.... .. I actually think there is a Lucy Baines living there, who drools and has climbed on top of departing cars.. . . . .....

 the poor old gal.....I think our Lucy cat lived until she was 17 or so - fully bonkers and skinny and quite tattered in the end - a veritable Grisabella from T.S. Eliot

Dear gawd.....you are all a rather simian bunch, aren't ya??

Yes, and hirsute, too

would like to have my whole body lasered <_<

WHAAAAT????

and

WHY?????

...and why Brandy?

Brandy in me hot milk, you Silly Bundt!!!!!!!!!!!!!! helps me to sleep.

One can ne'er have too many words for the male anatomy.

It's funny to me to read all of those words in that dictionary, it feels like I'm in the 'way-back' machine. Suddenly I'm 5 years old, listening to my granny tell me to 'make pischy' in the bathroom at Kresge.

Good times...good times

My mum's phamilee were some pretty intense people. Long suffering, to be sure. So much guilt, so little time.

Hmmm...that's what my husband says, every time I take off me clothes

Sadly, I was forced to surrender my IBTC member card at age 17 1/2, whenst the TT fairy paid me a surprise visit and me blossoms near exploded out me wardrobe. She brought along her friend, the chin hair fairy

As if I could Suze, dear, your mirth tis quite ribald wifout me

In my world, the shaving ritual is known as "Trimming the Bush"

I'm all like   x 100 from Mimmsy's post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She got EXPLODING BLOSSOMS?????????????????? I'm still waitin.

I had a vestigal visit from her, as well....... . . ...she does toes, too, part-time. . . . ...

*snooooooort* Yup, got the hair on the big toe, also. Um, I SHAVE MY ARMS. That's right. I have as much arm hair as a man........started bleaching it in around 6th grade (Jolen Cream Bleach, eh girls?) and then..........over a decade ago, just started shaving them daily.

:o

isn't that CRAZY??????????

bloody heinous is what it is. <_<

Then we can all larf at his widdle-pee-nee (johnson, jack hammer, shwans, meat, loaf, trouser trout, pearl diver, little man, jock, manhood)

Hope Suze is gettin' some shut eye

"Aw man, why'd you let her nap so late? Now she'll never get to sleep tonight! I guess I'll just have to put some brandy in 'er milk again."

love the weenis names, esp. TROUSER TROUT and another fave, ONE-EYED SNAKE

Mimms, yer daughter has a cold? awwwwwwww.........well, you get to stay home this weekend then! Hope she feels better.

got one hour of shut-eye, it did help a bit. Now must head out on errands. Foraging for brandy food and supplies, and a lock for my back gate. Did I tell you guys the incident last weekend with teh gardener??????????? I am really in a very awkward situation here, pholks, adn do nae know what to do, so temporary solution is to lock him out of my back yard.

Crikey, is THAT the man for me? Is that who God has for me? My five-foot-two, non-English speaking gardener?????????????????? I was too nice to him, and he has fallen in love. Remember, the flowers in the soda can, and the strawberries? His love offerings? and telling me that he wants to be my novio?

Last week he started crying when I TRIED to tell him (in my very primitive Spanish) that he can't come into my back yard unless I invite him.

THAT is what I get. <_<

Will any NORMAL man ever like me? Ever?

HARRUMPHHHFFFFFFFFFFF

Poor Weez, no walk from her slovenly white trash mommy today......we are just going to lay around until mommy's head stops spinning from fatigue. *snort*

WHERE IS GIA-KNIT??????????????????????? Is she sorting her tatt??????

Oh, wish we could help.........can you imagine, all the sillies commandeering her yard sale????? Absinthian toasts and full ribaldry :snort:

and maybe we can find that court jester with the soiled velvet robe and battered sepulchre to join us.............where is he????????

Padt - what IS goign on down there in Texas???????????????????

Amanda - some kind of evil rash????? Stay inside, by all means.

Oh Sills - - going to be mid-70's here for a few days - - the EVIL SUMMER has been staved off for a while more................ :happydance:

Gad...just got back from Jack's science fair at his school. My face was completely  the entire time I stood looking at these displays on barometric pressure, black holes, magnetic fields, listening to these li'l Einsteins trying to take me through their presentations, nice and slowly. . . . . ......

....and now I hear that Soooozle shaves her arms.

And a wee Mexican man has fallen in love with you!

Sills,

Have I mentioned to ya'll about the dairy-o-rama I have going on over here? B)

It all started wif the greek yogurt (yum) and then the splash of milk in me tea. Well, yesterday I had.......get ready fer it......vanilla ice cream!!!!! :o:D :D Regular ole' store bought ice cream (gluten status checked ;) )

Today, I graduated to half and half in me tea--and I've had no reactions yet! :D

So here's the thing--I went dairy free even before I knew about Celiac. I thought it would help wif me stomach probs. Anyway, the doc that did me phirst endo like 4 years ago told me to "begin the gluten-free and lactose free diet", and the crackpot, er Kinesiologist I saw also said I was "allergic" <_< ....so I phigured I should just stay away from it.

But, I keep having this nagging feeling that when you think about it, I had no real basis to be dairy free, and believe it or not, I've never tested it out-- and since I really missed it after like 5 years, I decided to give it a try. Sorry fer the long, boring story......

Next up, cheese!!! :D I pheel so empowered!!!

If I suddenly disappear, you can assume the other shoe has dropped and the whole thing backfired!

Dad is having major surgery through his back  to get at a big cluster of kidney stones that they cannot access laproscopically.

OMG.......wheeled him into the pre-op waiting area this am, and many other seniors were sitting there, waiting also. One lady suddenly says, "Gasp!. . .......Les! I saw you and your wife on the news yesterday!" and the man beside her said, "YES! Happy anniversary to you both!" and the lady beside my mom piped in, "Sixty years!" And on it went, all these nurses suddenly crowding in, saying they had seen them both. . . .... Unbelievable that so many arbitrary people watch these local newscasts....... .

So, I left to go park, my dad telling everyone how the 60th wedding anniversary is traditionally Diamond. I hear him say, "So, I thought, jeez, I should get her the gift of a lifetime. So I bought her thirteen diamonds. I bought her a deck of cards".......

this is truly amazing.

hope the surgery is over and he is doing great

what a sense of humor his has.

Alrighty. If any of youse was thinking that putting up insulation would be a fun project, let me disabuse of that idea right now. I am exhausted....itchy...my fingertips hurt...and I still need to put up more.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!

How do I contact someone at celiac.com concerning the cessation of my weekly e-newsletter? I had been receiving it regularly for years. When I tried to sign-up on the website, my email was not accepted. I tried again with a new email address and that was rejected as well. Thank you in advance!

Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
