We may take a trip to Chincoteague Island in VA this summer. Our daughter is a huge fan of the Marguerite Henry books about the wild ponies and really wants to take a trip there. The ponies live on Assateague Island, which is shared by Virginia and Maryland, on the atlantic coast.

Gaaaaah! THEEEEE Marguerite Henry??? Misty, Sea Star, Mustang, Wild Spirit of the West... .. . . .??? I was absolutely captivated and besotted with her books as a young kid - - I can recall reading them instead of the compulsory Treasure Island and Lord of the Flies... . .. . ...SOOOOO much more my thang. . . ..... :rolleyes:

OMG yes, the very one!! I started reading them aloud to her when she was too young to read them alone (I love Grandpa's back-woods drawl and Grandma's country wisdom). Now Taylor reads them herself, but I still read them aloud just to enjoy the stories. She is determined to go see it for her self, so we are trying to get there this summer. I was thinking that it's not all that far from some of the sillies....anyone game for a meeting near Delaware/Maryland/Virginia?

Thumb report---can nae see them due to the swinging of massive hammers busting out chunks of concrete, mobilized by massively muscled and tanned biceps ;)

OK, here's the rundown on the concrete manhood...

One was kinda chunky, but had perfectly smooth, very tanned skin and hugely muscled pecs and biceps and forearms--brown hair and dark eyes.

Another had about a 28 inch waist which swelled out to huge rock hard glutes and 40 inch shoulders, blonde hair, blue eyes. BUT! He looked he belonged in the Village People.

One was just loud and obnoxious, and the other two were just boys. Mere visions of what the future holds.

The owner/foreman was very nice to my dog.

It wasn't too hot here, so no bad smells wafted through yon window. Lots of swearing and guy talk going on.

Men, men, men, men.

Men. Doing manly things ;)

Even Scott commented on how built a couple of these guys were. And that they were busting up concrete BY HAND with sledgehammers.

Impressive display here, girls.

Alrighty then--now that I've taken a moment to compose meselph after reading about minimom's beefcake eye candy.... :lol:

I forgot to tell youse guys that I reconnected on da book wif one of my best friends from high school. We haven't seen each other since a couple years after graduation--lives went in different directions.....yada yada.....

She found me--it was so nice to catch up :rolleyes: Made me pheel old.....

Really? Talking to old high school friends again and seeing their pictures , made me feel young again. At least we're all in the same age range, right? The way I see it, if I'm old, then they are too :lol:

Yeah--true dat. I was thinking more in terms of how many years have gone by and how fast they went :o

But you're right--she told me she's already a grandmother of 3!

just a quick poop-in to say hi-dee-ho, and to let you all know (which I'm sure you DO already know) that........I'm completely and totally devoid of silly. :(

I don't know where in hell it went but it's been gone a good part of June. :angry: and maybe the last part of May? BOLLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see it returning any time soon, either. I think I"m involved in some sort of very dissatisfying and wretchedly unfulfilling........mid-life ennui crisis? dunno. But it is not fun.

Gooooood Morning, All!

Getting packed for Wards Island, T.O. tomorrow......won't be able to fit in a pizza date this visit, POeter....'tis a whirlwind trip.

My brother's band is playing in part of a big commuity piss-up party on Sunday. He has talked my sister and I into singing something with them, and now we have to decide what it's gonna be. Dear gawd, I will have to be somewhat inebriated.

      Have faith, you will survive. I get mine from Pipingrock.com.  500 capsules of 10,000 IU for $22.  That is almost two years worth for me.  250 caps 5000 IU for $6.69 if you only take 5,000 a day.  It's like half the price of Walmart.

      Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

      If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people.       I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..."       Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.
