Nik-a-nik......sometimes teachers need a com-uppance! They have no business question your parenting skills!!!! I once had a "talking to" to one of my son's teachers. He was not working up to his level for a bit. According to her it was because "all" of the other kids talked about wonderful vacations and places that they go, and my kid did not....etc, etc, like she thought he was so deprived and neglected. Pee'd me right off! Told her a bit about what our lives were like and that it wasn't about to change unless she had some miraculous suggestions. Secondly I didn't think it had to do with anything in his life outside of school and maybe she ought to look at her own motivational behaviors. Of course....I was verrrry calm and polite-like  . Sure I was. For some reason these things were never brought up again. ;) , and the boy settled back into doing better (for a while anyway).

Kold here...still, again. Change too abrupt for my liking. But then again...the temps are not likely to be to my liking until next summer. Hope we get a real one next year.

Sleetzin Wikedokovich....good job on the stick-free! We're all pulling for ya! And dancing already.....a good substitute if I ever heard of one.

Today, I went to his web-site and found out- stupid Susan, stupid Susan, stupid Susan. I have to admit, because of circumstanses that I could have controlled, I quit reading. I used to be, as the qliche says, an avid reader. I most love Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradberry, and Issac Assimov. Then Doestoyevski, Tolstoy. and Bulgakov. Sylvia Plath, Myah Angelo, many other authers. Once interviewed R. Buckminster Fuller. Read all of his books. Read the Short story " Peking Man" Reminded me of RB.. I know I'n not supposed to apoligise on this place, but am.

Emylou- Got to see a pic of the doggy named Charley. You can't name a standard Poodle Charles, or he'll hump every neighbors leg, making you very unpopular. I can't stand the thaught that they debarked him, that's what dogs do and, if you live in a hood like mine, that's what you need them to do. And, I'd hate to see you un poplar. Trees are impotent.

He really does suit the name "Charles", I must say. He was already named "Charlie" by some cruel, irresponsible, apartment-dwelling pet owner. We decided that he is quite regal and classy, even through the skinniness and barklessness.........so he's Charles.

Actually, as JJack suggested, Charles Barkless.:lol:

When my DD was in first grade, she did poorly on a test. It showed a woman vacuuming and she had to tell what the woman was doing. She couldn't. We had an all tile floor house -I did not own a vacuum cleaner. I went to the school and protested. She changed the score.

Years later---I went to a Phsycologist and took a test. It showed that I should be a nurse or a teacher. I was majoring in biology and I wanted to be a Doc. They changed the test.

Not long later. I became the president of the local chapter of NOW. Our local paper had help wanted ads like this:

Help wanted " women" -teachers, housekeepers, nurses, cleaening women, cooks, ect.

Help wanted "men" -doctors, lawyers, ass%$@#s, ceo's.

I arranged a picket line in front of the office of the Freepot Journal Standard. The want adds are much differant now..

Hey, that's interesting. . . ...... . my typed word "a$$hole" in the last post (which I typed normally) was edited to read "jerk", but Slewzhinkia's typed-out word "a$$hole" in her post beforehand was left alone. What's goin' on wif you, Slew?.....You got some special, clandestine status that quietly exempts you from the automatic filtering and language editing in place here at c.com?.... . . .. . .. .....all right, guys. . ......may have to keep an eye on this one.. . . ...special privileges, several different nationalities and stream-of consciousness voices.... . ... . .

Is there not some redundancy in here?

Clay, having worked under several women who managed to break the glass ceiling, thinks they all belong in the category of jerks, and would add some choice other adjectives. Having heard some of the stories I would say that in his case he was not entirely wrong and not merely chafing under the female yoke. Public service, affirmative action, the cream does not necessarily rise to the top, only the beotches

'Tis simple scy-ance methinks. Stir up the bottle.....while the dirty sediment slowly sinks to the bottom.....the greasy, featherwate scum drifts up to the top. All the good little molecules do the work to hold them up and continue on doing what good little molecules do :P Scene it over and over in many different types of bottles. There is no "real" gender difference in featherwate skum.....only appears that way on the outside.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
