I, too, must bid you adieu for tonight. It will be a busy morning tomorrow.

The jewels and scepter remain somewhat tarnished tonight. There was no polishing of the royal assets. :(

We have a new king for the next 100 97 pages, and we is just celebrating his coronation with the usual ribaldry bawdiness, we the members of his royal court. :P

Sills--I'm sore in places I didn't know I had :o Last night we started putting an epoxy finish on the garage floor.....what a production! We had to etch it first (did this on Sunday) and then wash. By last night it was dry, so we mixed up the first batch of the stuff and ended up getting the floor about 2/3 done. All the edging is done (by moi) and it really looks incredible.

Another beautiful day here--got me winders open B)

so glad you got it 3/4 done

Duh! .....I had no clue what you were talking about........I thought we were still talking weather

You may have to polish the royal sceptor ;):lol::lol:

I now truly admire newbies who come in here and post. Just the thought of seeing a thread that is 2400 pages long, YEARS in the making, and taking a run at joining in, would likely be too intimidating fer me. So GOOD FER YOU, all you recent Psills - - Rah-shell, Slooozhee.... . . . ...trial by fire, I suppose. .. . . ...

It's only 4:30 in the morning, a little early for swimming, but I'm gonna take my coffee down by the pool for a while.

you know, on that trip (one week in Maui), I wasn't really drinking AT ALL! In fact, I can tell you my age.....it was the first Christmas after my dad died, and some of our family went to Hawaii that year.....so I was about 27. NOT a heavy drinker at that time - probably just one umbrella drink a day, or none......

nope....I"m telling you.....I've been to most of the Hawaiian isles, and only in Maui did I sleep and sleep -_-

but OMG - now that I think of it, I napped nearly EVERY SINGLE DAY in Italy for half a summer! :o and was almost a COMPLETEL teetotaler at that age (23).....it was the diet that made me sleepy.....a breakfast of a croissant (with some UNBELIEVABLY delicious cream cheese or chocolate filling :( *sniff*) and coffee.....that was it......then a HUGE lunch at 1:00-ish.....OMG....had to CRASH every day, that is why they have siestas, my friends...no protein at the morning meal! the entire country is celiac hypoglycemic, I"m tellin ya... We called it Florentine Sleeping Sickness.....and could NAE fight it.......

Extremely cranky that I have to go and represent the TC (my "job") tonight at this function WITHOUT MY BOSS  do NOT want to go.......no no no no NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a zit on my chin the size of a pea.....hair is PSYCHOTIC, and getting worse all the time :( Am VERY cranky, and do NOT want to go ANYWHERE, but most especially doing an activity that requires me to promote something that I think is GNUTS (our youth program).

There are worse things than inebriation, you know. Sobriety is at the top of my list.

So, at the store this afternoon, after unloading the truck, we are a bit tired mentally and physically.

Her majesty is on Phacebook and sees a phunny video linked by one of her phriends. It is not on my page, because her phriend of a phriend is not also my phriend. So she says, watch it on my computer.

I walk around, and click on it while she goes to do something else. I switch it to full-screen mode and watch. She comes back, and apparently did not know that you could watch in full-screen mode, because she asks me, "How did you get it up so big?" Several seconds of silence followed.

I then showed her how to access full-screen mode.

Menopause.....I went through it at aproximately 8AM on January 3, 2007 when they yanked out all me equipment  No HRT it'all, so the rest of that year was "interesting"--lots of hot and cold and all the rest. I'll tell ya thought--when everything settled down at the end of a year's time or so, it was wonderful to not have to think about all that stuff anymore. I think I had started the process at least 4 years prior, so I was just glad to get it behind me. Ah....the joys of bein a woman B)

Lee-sa's list = genius!

Mark and I petered out last night--took a load over to the house, put it away, and decided to call it a night. We came back here and ate leftover Chang's and basically crashed. He fell asleep on the couch and I followed soon after.

Mentalpause?? Yep . . . although mine might not be hormone related . . . :P

Gotta go eat some breakfast and start cleaning. Way too much crap tatt around here. I need to have a yard boot sale but tis late in the season. Maybe I'll just pass this stuff out to the trick-or-treaters. Do you think they would like some used tupperware and old towels?

 Jyagh-knutt! This is a superb idea. Buying trick-or-treat candy/crap to hand out is expensive and generally bad all around... . ..for kids' teeth, weight, etc. Why not place into their eagerly open sacks gently used household items that we no longer have use for, but which can be creatively recycled and continuously used?

How exciting for those expectant little goblins at my door, to receive my padded cushions for all those football games I once attended, the cloth napkins for our original place settings, the adapters for my old cordless phones.. . .......!

And HEY! The loved but rejected mistake-pictures of yore - - all those of foreheads, patio floor, half a thumb... .. . .

Mygawd.......I bet I could fill Hallowe'en bags from several neighboUrhoods.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
