'Morning, gang!

Dear gawd, Soooozle... . ...you can actually MAKE that unbelievably decadent cake, living alone, and not eat the whole thing in an hour? There is no way I could have such a dessert in me house living by myself -- lord help me. How many trips to the fridge would I be makin'? Actually, one... .. . . would just leave the cake out by my chair, or on the high table in the hallway that I walk by every few minutes.... .. . <_<

I, too, bestow milk on me tea.. ....... . ..actually, I even put a little in my -- hold yerselph, Nik - - GREEN tea, as well... . ....

Shroomie! Your Spring Carnival sounds terrific. Actually, just about anything spring-y does.... . . ... :(

Everyone in the middle!!! on the Bigfoot quiz. Now, ya can't *all* walk in the middle or there would be no one on the outside, and no, that wouldn't be me on the outer, I'm a middly too. We need to find some salacious, rapacious, spacious! candidates to cover the flanks  But with T following along behind and Nik hobbling along on her blister at the rear we shouldn't have to worry--sounds like a good target :P Sorry Nik, been nice knowing ya. I will carry on the tradition of only!! hot water in tea for you. But the Brits normally love milk in their precious tea...oh, that's right I said "normal"! Dat's okay, doesn't apply

:lol::lol::lol:

hee-lar-ee-usss!!!!

going ta bed now, made a failure of a cake that was going to be SOOOOOOO good <_<

the pets have enjoyed licking the remnants of the three milks ("tres leches" - I"m goign to have to post the recipe just to torture you all, as I have been):

Yummmm........have had tres leches.....made by a friend of mine from Costa Rica. ^_^

I have drywall!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

Don't drink tea a' tall, but for some reason, milk in tea sounds, just.....wrong

Geoss's yeti experiment was BCL.....before Curly Lisa, but he was bein passed around for various domestic chores when I came on the scene.

Friday is here at last!!!!! Brian has orientation today, then starts work on Monday! In the past 8 months, Brian has only worked 3 weeks. He is soooo happy to be getting out of the house......gawd, me too. He does not make a very good househusband <_<

Dance lesson was fun! We learned how to dip(him) and be dipped(me) B) and I am learning to do a body roll. We are gettin our sexy on!

Well let' see. Iffin' he had his way with our Jess and she survived with only a 19% chance, methinks he's trying his luck and will move on to our Rachelle next.

Then he has to choose between me, Nikki and Em. I'm thinking he'll go for Em as she's farther north then me and then begin his long winter swim across the pond to get his paws on

NIKKI! His first British conquest

I'll keep my eyes open (and stop huffin' and hallucinating  )

But I'm trained in Israeli martial arts, so if he gets to me, I'll take him down so the rest of you's can git away!! :P

Coily Leeeesargh! Great stuff with Brian. :)

Um, you're gonna be learning to execute a body roll... . . .......well, then, I actually think that our Leesargh would have, by far, the best chance if pitted against Bigfoot. Israeli martial arts? Nope.. .. .... ..gotta just be quicker, make yerselph smaller, move away at lightning speed -- and just keep going. . . .......

Wait..........Israeli martial arts?? Ra-chyellle, this sounds serious and effective. Man, Israelis can take care of themselves. Much less effective is the science of Canadian Martial Arts - - hockey mask in place, constant execution of the "darting through snowbanks" move followed by the "hike my pants up as they're weighed down by all the coin change" maneuver... .. .....and, of course, the constant apologizing - - "Jeez, sorry about this ahead o' time.. . ..I'm gonna paste ya one across the side o' yer face"... . . ...

:lol::lol: x50,

You forgot the "eh" at the end of that :D

Since I am part Canadian (mi familia settled in BC from Ireland), and I get asked if I am Canadian almost every day-because for some reason summering with my grandparents in Prince George for so many years has given me an accent that I cannot shake, yet I never did latch on to "eh" like the rest of me fam, I understand the constant need for apologizing for EVERYTHING :lol:

I still think I could take the bigfoot down without being violated first!

Why doesn't George do anything for me? Never has....I can appreciate him aesthetically but nope, not dreamy. He's aging quite elegantly though.

I much prefer rougher men like Anthony Kiedis (RHCP), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and.........Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall

hi, fellow psillies! I have momentary, temporary use of a computer. Sounds like yer all havin fun. gettin drunk, and eatin beaver! Shame on you! Since I left sillyville< I have become a modle sitizen. I am beneath reproach, almost becoming God-like. And it's boring!

Am goin back to my evil ways.

After Dh got laid off and my puter crashed, I fell and sprained my neck. Painful, but OK now. Bad things come in 3"s so I guess I got nottin but good from now on.

New song, "I Did it my Way", by Joseph Mengela. Oh, that's bad!

I have to do my Thanksgiving dinner pretty soon too. Dragging mine all the way to Joisey  We'll be arriving the night before, so I'm just bringing it frozen. Don't want to spend the first evening in nearly 8 months wif me boys cooking! :D Can't belive it's been that long :(:)

Sills--guess what I just did? I roasted almonds!! :P These wee buggers smell incredible and are positively addicting. Hee! I didn't know they continued to roast for a while on the sheet pan--they're still crackling a little as they're cooling.

I woulda preferred to try Soozle's cake <droolphace>, but ya know..... I gotta phit into me dress fer said holiday (wif leggings underneath instead of tights B) (dress is knee length--no butt or surrounding area showing whatsoever ;) )

If your dress is knee length, and you aren't wearing tights because you don't want to show your arse, just how low does your arse hang :lol:

Unless you're doing some ma-jah table dancing, you should go with tights to show off yer legs!! ;)

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
