We have a case of the measles in our high school. My kids are vaccinated. Just thought it was odd.

Russell, that bun looks like he feels very safe and happy. The back legs turned to the side means " no bunny worries".

J and Hub have driven to Colorado State today to look at the college tomorrow. Then they will hit K State on the way back. Then he has to decide which college. Hub made him drive all the way to Colorado today - 620 ish miles. Wants him to realize how far he would be. k Sate is maybe 2 hours away. At KSU he knows people in the engineering program & likes some of them. He knows no one at CO State.

I got some smart kids. If you're not smarter, you have to be more clever.

I just heard from one of our roving Ottawa radio reporters, currently camped out in front of Westminster Cathedral, that there are close to 6,000 cases of measles right now in eastern Europe. What in hell?

Here is the Ottawa bus driver whose route DD has ridden when coming home from downtown. So glad someone finally got him on film: B)

Update on the college tour. He loved Colorado. Most of the campus has been re- built recently so it looks nice. They sent him around with an engineering student so he got to hear a students perspective. It was warm and lovely weather. Not sure what he thought of the long drive.

Em, love the singing bus driver. Could have a big sing- along.

Yes, he's safe, happy and spoiled rotten!

I'm accepting that Madeleine will go to Harvard (or so I keep telling her...), so I'm prepping myself for being on the other side of the country ;)

Yes, do tell!

Those hats are freakin crazy! Does one see such a hat and say, "Ooooh, that's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" or "That's the craziest one, I'll take it!!"

Hub & J sent me pics of the important things on the CO campus. 2 are pics of a bike parking lot. counting what I can see, it must be 200 bikes at one and another 100 at the other. The other pic of a big sign for a pizza place (meant to make me OK with him going so far)

Colorado Style Pizza.

Gluten Free

Appetizers, Pizza, Sandwiches & Beverages!!

Dairy Free Cheese!

I'm guessing that Colorado style pizza must be gluten free and occasionally dairy free! It is only about 2 hours from the Home of Udis.

I only watched the highlights but they do seem to really like each other. Quite a nice difference from Diana & Charles' wedding.

Loved when Camilla was trying to pick up the littlest flower girl so she could see over the balconey. Especially, when she chided Prince Charles and it took him a minute to figure out she wanted him to hold the little girl.

Wow, this all sounds terrific, Kherrighnne.... . . . .how exciting! How does the program feel for him at Colorado? DD still has not decided between Ottawa U and U of Toronto.. . .. ....seems to all be boiling down to the programs, one of which is a little different than what she was initially planning on studying. They are both fantastic campuses.......and both are $$$$$.....crap.... . .. She has scholarships for both, but the remaining amount is still terrifying, frankly.. . .. ...

He is looking at Kansas State today. I fear it will not seem as impressive as the twice as expensive (even with the scholarship) CO. He also saw kids playing intermural (recreational)sports which he is hoping to do. I will let you know what he decides.

What is she studying? Is she playing hockey?

elye Community Regular

She wants to start in biomedical science, then perhaps specialize in a year or two into speech language pathology and/or linguistics.

Both universities have terrific house league hockey teams. My question remains: in a little, shared dorm room, where in hell do these kids store their hockey equipment?? Particularly the goalie, whose bag, trust me, is the biggest piece of baggage one has ever seen...

Maybe she can get a locker at the gym or rink & squeeze some stuff in.

J is doing mechanical engineering. Other than being a firefighter or Ninja when he was 6, its what he has always wanted to do.

Ninja would have been cool. Maybe you can get him to change his mind.

Something to ponder having nothing to do with weddings, hats or royalty.

If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happens if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?

send us pics of your arms after you've tried to strap toast to a cat.....

OMG! There is a show on where they are discussing what Will & Kate will name their children! They have made pictures of what they think the kids will look like.

Get tested for vitamin deficiencies.  Though neuropathy can be a symptom of celiac, it can also be caused by deficiencies due to poor digestion caused by celiac and could be easier to treat.

Thank you so much for your response  Yes it seems as though things get very painful as time goes on.  I'm not eating gluten as far as I know.  However, I'm not sure of cross contamination.  My system seems to weaken to hidden spices and other possibilities. ???  if cross contamination is possible...I am in a super sensitive mode of celiac disease.. Neuropathy from head to toes

EXACTLY! I was asked yesterday on my LAST video call with Standford and I stated exactly yes absolutely this is why I need the name! One, get proper care, two, not get worse.Im falling apart, stressed out, in pain and just opened email from Stanford stating I was rude ect.I want that video reviewed by higher ups and see if that women still has a job or not.Im saying this because I've been medically screwed and asking for help because bills don't pay itself. This could be malpratice siit but im not good at finding lawyers

We feel your pain. It took me 20+ years of regularly going to doctors desperate for answers only to be told there was nothing wrong with me … when I was 20 pounds underweight, suffering from severe nutritional deficiencies, and in a great deal of pain. I had to figure it out for myself. If you're in the U.S., not having an official diagnosis does mean you can't claim a tax deduction for the extra expense of gluten-free foods. But it can also be a good thing. Pre-existing conditions might be a reason why a health insurance company might reject your application or charge you more money. No official diagnosis means you don't have a pre-existing condition. I really hope you don't live in the U.S. and don't have these challenges. Do you need an official diagnosis for a specific reason? Else, I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you're diligent in remaining gluten free, your body should be healing as much as possible so there isn't much else you could do anyway. And there are plenty of us out here who never got that official diagnosis because we couldn't eat enough gluten to get tested. Now that the IL-2 test is available, I suppose I could take it, but I don't feel the need. Someone else not believing me really isn't my problem as long as I can stay in control of my own food.

If you're just starting out in being gluten free, I would expect it to take months before you learned enough about hidden sources of gluten before you stopped making major mistakes. Ice cream? Not safe unless they say it is gluten free. Spaghetti sauce? Not safe unless is says gluten-free. Natural ingredients? Who knows what's in there. You pretty much need to cook with whole ingredients yourself to avoid it completely. Most gluten-free products should be safe, but while you're in the hypersensitive phase right after going gluten free, you may notice that when something like a microwave meal seems to not be gluten-free … then you find out that it is produced in a shared facility where it can become contaminated. My reactions were much-more severe after going gluten free. The analogy that I use is that you had a whole army of soldiers waiting for some gluten to attack, and now that you took away their target, when the stragglers from the gluten army accidentally wander onto the battlefield, you still have your entire army going out and attacking them. Expect it to take two years before all of the training facilities that were producing your soldiers have fallen into disrepair and are no longer producing soldiers. But that is two years after you stop accidentally glutening yourself. Every time you do eat gluten, another training facility can be built and more soldiers will be waiting to attack. Good luck figuring things out.
