Let me just clarify, I was not wearing a dirty mens wifebeater tank top vest yesterday

 Something tells me that our Julie would never consider wearing a dirty men's wifebeater! So I ain't surprised! :D

Julie!!! Did you watch the new episode of "Lost" last night? I hung on by me phingernails, but got through it and think I know what's going on. Kinda. We really enjoyed it, though.

Can't WAIT till next week.

Cat news - yes I have decided to keep the weesweet li'l tabbeigh interloper (Harry) as he's had plenty opportunities to go home....always come back to us. I also contacted the local cat rescue centREs also to see if anyone has registered a tabbeigh and white lost kitt-eh :(

....but the sweetest thing...

When I put down the food for the cats in the morning there is a stampede  ...... poor skinny li'l Harry is ALWAYS starving hungry...and I think not terribly happy with sharing any food - so he growls - but can't stop eating .....so it 'sounds' like he is saying

'Num, num num'

Out with the tatt in with the cats for Nik!!!!!

The cat stempede for chow time sounds SO CUTE!!!!

Ooohhh! I yam so, so, <> envious. We are still in unseasonably cold temps

See, I'd be the one at the dinner table, with my butter knife, trying to STAB myself in the heart

Has actually happened at the theater group parties (the burst into song part, not the butter knife as deadly weapon part). The renditions of "Happy Birthday", however, are amazing.

Gaaaaaaahhhh! Sleeveless Sweater Madness!

Did not know that Mr. Jackman had a set o' pipes on him like dat. . . . ...Quite impressive. He is rather perfect, isn't he?

I have those new tabs, and also have not tried them as yet. A little frightening, any new buttons.. . . ....I'm not a great fan of change, so this may put me right over the edge.

Must change my screenname/nickname here....how do I go about doing that?? Mods?

You are joking.....right, Joooles? Or serious. . . . . . . .not sure.. . . . . . . but you CAN'T change yer username!! I HATE CHANGE!!! You are juliem.. . . . ...forever. You are now embodied in those letters. 'Twould be too much fer me. . . . . . ...!!

My dad had another CT scan yesterday....waiting for results. His white blood cell count is high, so there is an infection somewhere....they're mainlining Cipro.

But he sounds good. . .. . although he doesn't have his teef in, so there's a strange lisp going on....quite phunee. . . .. . .

oh my gaaaaaaaaaaawd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so - I watched the entire two-plus minutes of it and - -

tell me WHY IN HELL during a perfectly normal dinner scene, a man just GETS UP AND BURSTS into a stupid song about his state  and - then everyone smilingly joins along - - how in HELL can anyone tolerate this sort of ptaumphoolery????????

See, I'd be the one at the dinner table, with my butter knife, trying to STAB myself in the heart

Bah hahahahah!!! This whole passage cracked me up!!!

I know what you are saying Sooze....BUT, even so, I still LOVE the musical

You just have to understand that sometimes words must be set to song (and sometimes dance) in order to fully express the emotion

Ptaum- Been meaning to say I'm sorry you don't have any more info. POOPY COW! What's your next step?

Em- how are yer dad and sis?

It is the "modern" re-telling of the tale, and Em's, right, that's part of its charm. absolutely fan-pharking-tastic beyond belief  I NEVER tire of it. ose some, but I"ve never had a complaint......I charge just slightly over, or use a flat-rate box, quite good for things that are especially heavy.

One of me favorite lines is BONAFIDE!!!!!!!!!

Lisa, phorgot to tell you a long time ago when you first mentioned your doggie's name was Zeus. Everytime you say Zeus I think of the half naked artist man wearing only banana hammock thong underwears from the movie Under the Tuscan Sun :lol:

Huge Assman Hugh Jackman can wear a wife beater tank top ANYTIME!!!!!!!!! As Julie would say- HUBBA HUBBA

But I must agree that although his voice is amazing (I didn't know!) I too would stab my heart with a butter knife if ANYONE burst into that song during me dinner!!!!!!!!!!

Yep changed me name cause I couldn't stand that it was all capitals. But Skaught couldn't link my old identity (BERNESES) to my new one so it was like going into witness protection  I like my new one better tho.

I'll bet he isn't, Soooooze.....just calculate things using my pre-mentioned Sick Scale. Your age, divided by two, plus seven years. That 's the minimum age a date can be before it goes from acceptable to sick. So, if he's thirty, it's all good.

We have a category of articles on this topic if you really want to dive into it: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/miscellaneous-information-on-celiac-disease/gluten-free-diet-celiac-disease-amp-codex-alimentarius-wheat-starch/

I agree with @trents, and the rash you described, especially its location and resistance to steroids, sounds highly characteristic of dermatitis herpetiformis, which is the skin manifestation of celiac disease. The severe and prolonged reaction you're describing five days after a small exposure is, while extreme, not unheard of for those with a high sensitivity; the systemic inflammatory response can absolutely last for several days or even weeks, explaining why you still don't feel right. Your plan to avoid a formal gluten challenge is completely understandable given the severity of your reactions, and many choose the same path for their well-being. While experiences with GliadinX (they are a sponsor here) are mixed, some people do report a reduction in the severity of their symptoms when taken with accidental gluten, though it is crucial to remember it is not a cure or a license to eat gluten and its effectiveness can vary from person to person. For now, the absolute best advice is to continue being hyper-vigilant about cross-contamination—buffets are notoriously high-risk, even with good intentions. Connecting with a gastroenterologist and a dermatologist who specialize in celiac disease is essential for navigating diagnosis and management moving forward. Wishing you a swift recovery from this last exposure. If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:

So just to be cautious, there is a big difference between cured, and responding to their medication. I assume you mean that your daughter responded well while taking KAN-101 during the trial, but the drug would not cure celiac disease, but may manage it while you are taking it. Let me know if I got this right.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Godfather! "Gluten-free" is not the same as zero gluten. The FDA standard for allowing the food industry to us the gluten-free label on a product is that it cannot exceed 20 ppm of gluten. That is safe for most celiacs but not for the subset of celiacs/gltuen sensitive people who are super sensitive. "Gluten-free" wheat starch products have been processed in such a way to remove enough of the protein gluten to comply with the FDA regulation but usually do retain some gluten and we usually get reports from some people on this forum who fall in the more sensitive range that such products cause them to react. Hope this helps. So, you may just have to experiment for yourself.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Dana0207! Another diagnostic approach would be to get biopsied for dermatitis herpetiformis which would not require an extensive exposure to gluten. But it would need to be done during an active outbreak of the rash. Celiac disease is the only known cause for dermatitis herpetiformis so it would be a definitive diagnosis. It might be tricky, however, to time the dermatology appointment with the gluten exposure and outbreak.
