Laundry is coming along. I've got a mountain of garbage bags filled with all the stuffed animals, throws, loose pillows, etc . . . sitting until I can run them through the dryer or a couple weeks time have elapsed . . . whichever comes first.

I'm worried that Skeeter will have a hard time at school. Her brother (who was also checked by the nurse and found to be OK) is telling everyone to stay away from her because she has lice. He's got a lecture and a vacation from the video games coming.

Gotta go . . . late for work.

Hope not, Jan-it. She does not need that too!

Hope you both have a good day :)

How do you all pluck yer chin hairs?

Wif me phace plastered against the mirror  I do this every day, yet recently I found a hair that was almost 2 inches long!!!! :o

Good to see you back, Soozle! :D

Psillies . . . a terribly unpsillie thing (at least today it is unpsillie) . . . an early Christmas present for Skeeter . . . the school nurse called and . . . someone has given her head lice. I have spent the last three hours combing through her hair (she's got very thick hair) after I cut about half of it of myself as the hair cut place would nae take her. I understand this but the poor child has lice AND a hair cut from her mother and I haven't even take the kids' Christmas picture yet!!!

As if I don't already have enough laundry to do . . . I'm now off to launder every single thing in this house that will fit in the washing machine.

Gaaaaahhhh!!!!! When my dd got lice, her hair was almost to her waist, but not curly like Skeeter's. Did not cut it. Skeeter has beautiful hair!

.........I know.........those of you with naturally curly hair wish it weren't, and Skeeter will probably hate hers some day.

Snow and crrrazzzy drivers yesterday! Slide-offs and accidents everywhere!

First day back to the chiropractor since Brian lost his job. Ahhhhhhh!!!!! :)

Googling tells me it tends to be more of a girl thang . . . what wif the long hair . . . just two girls leaning in to look at the same book wif hair touching will do it, let alone sharing a comb or brush or trying on each others headbands or barettes. Smakl rarely tries on any of his phriends headbands.

GAH!!!!!...... my phull sympathies Gian-kneet <_<

Had a spell of around 6 months when the boys were little I just COULDN'T get rid of 'em.

T'was Al bringing 'em 'cos he hugged and got close to everyone  , then would pass it to Dan, me (I cried, - can you imagine trying to get a nit comb through my hair!!!)....never Martin or Tel though  (wire wool heads!)

I was NOT a happy camper!,...we'd get rid of them, then GET them AGAIN!...ARGHHH!!!

I think I finally put it down to the fact there was one child in Al's class who was NOT being treated (In the UK, 'cos of our STUPID laws to do wiv Human rights and such nurses OR teachers are NOT allowed to check kids head's! <_< )

We used Tea Tree Oil shampoo and combed through EVERY night for MONTHS

I'm sooooo sorry you're going though this. I got it when I was a kid, obscenely thick hair down to me waist--not for long, got it all chopped <_< Then I was a preschool teacher through college and I got it from a little girl in my classroom whose parents never treated their kids' hair and they kept getting it over and over until finally they shaved all 3 of their dd's heads :o Fixed the problem though!

Wish the hair on me head grew like the ones on me chin <_<

Watch out for the chin lice ;)

Busy weekend, got Christmas shopping almost done, gifts wrapped and under the tree, house decorated. Had to have the s-e-x talk with me 8 year old due to a bastard child at school telling her he wanted to rape her :o:angry: He has since been suspended, CPS was called, police involved, lots of counceling to come. I'm not angry with the child, but furious with his parents for exposing him to whatever is causing him to talk and behave this way (this wasn't the 1st time, but it was the most offensive and potentially dangerous). I was fairly basic in our talk and she took it pretty well. She thought it was all pretty gross  She's too young for all of this, and I'm not ready!!!

She got her braces off yesterday though, so that elation helped take her mind off of it!

....and GADS!... the music played on a continuous loop in one department shop is SURELY what they play in HELL!!!!!!!!!!

Dear gawd.... . . .this, truly, drives me around the bend. So angry did I become yesterday as I started through Walmart, after hearing the same canned, horrificly hokey Christmas music for a couple of hours from shop to shop, that I suddenly, in a fit of mad abandon, began to SING along to the awful rendition of "O Holy Night", loudly.

Suddenly, from two racks over, I hear another equally energetic voice chime in. Then another, from a whole row over.

I wish I could say that within ten seconds, a classic youtube moment broke out, the entire store of frustrated, stressed-out customers belting out the chorus in protest.

Not quite. Maybe eight of us, though. :lol:B)

Wish I could send you all one.......I was calculating disc/packaging/shipping costs and figured, to send one Christmas C D to all sills would be about $150 - can NAE do it! :(

I never had them. Thank GAWD (thick hair here too) and like Em and patti I never get bit by anything (except ticks- GRRR!)

raychelle- I'm so sorry about your 8 year old daughter being told that! that is horrifying. Hopefully she'll forget it soon but WTH could that kid be hearing at home? I didn't even know what making love was until I was 10 and that was the NICE part!

We got snough on Saturday night- woke up to a Winter Wonderland on Sunday- twas beautiful and it's sticking around- at least until tomorrow when we get snow- sleet-rain in that order.

I'm half way done with my shopping! Took a muscle relaxer and bought presents for 4 nieces and 1 nephew in 1 hour last Friday. I guess I'm decisive when on drugs

Normally thy don't start that early here either. It's the end of phase 1. She had an expander to fix a crossbite (which they like to fix before age 8 while the pallet is still soft), well, the darned thing ripped her 2 front teeth so far apart, you could fit a pencil between them and it was preventing the other 2 sets of teeth from coming in, so they slapped some brackets on her and moved the teeth together. Phase 2 will happen when she's a teen, and hopefully won't be as bad as it would have been!

Honestly, I think I'm trying to hold on to at least one "tradition".....something "familiar"....seems every year for the past few, there's been some upheavel or another, and with all the moving around we've done in general it's comforting that some things don't have to change. :)

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
    • catnapt
highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
