Just got back from a lovely lunch at my girlfriend's....four of us get together every couple of months. This time we met at her big place, and for the hell of it, brought our dogs. OMG...Gus and Elsie were hilarious with two puppies and a little cairn terrier. :lol:

And we had a fair amount of champagne.....it's now, what....almost 3 pm? :ph34r::rolleyes:

And we climbed into her hot tub. Incredible! The temp outside is about 75 F, and the water was nice and cool, but still bubbly. A neat experience.

However, I believe the rest of the day may be shot. Oh, hell...........

Patti AND Carla! You both are far too young to have kids in their twenties......quite remarkable. You both look fantastic, and you must surprise a lot of people if and when your age ever comes up!

Evening all!!

Son of Silly just back from his trip to France.....fab time :D .....watch this space for his next intrepid oversea adventure!! :lol:

So we have a few rather chesty Sillies, here...Sarah, too! It's not that mine are that small, they're now just....considerably lower, I guess.... :(<_<

Well we made it, and fun was had by all. Whew! And my friend's baby only wanted ME to hold her the whole time-- which I loved. :lol: She's about 14 months, and has been doing the mommy-clingy thing a lot lately. I think she figured out, "Hey, that one only has boys. She'll coo and spoil me the whole time if I allow her to have me." :rolleyes:

Emily, that sounds like so much fun!!! I wanna come next time. :D

I don't think I told you guys....I got my hair cut--short :o:o:o

Remember how it was uneven, and driving me nuts? I tried a salon that came well recommended right on the little Main Street of our town.

Anyway, this really nice stylist took me right away (I only stopped in to make an appointment) and did a very nice job--it's short, but it's an excellent cut.

Get this--her daughter tested weakly positive for Celiac when she was 19--3 years ago. The doctor said it was a low positive, so she didn't have to go on the gluten-free diet. :huh: This girl gets outbreaks when she is under stress.....among other things. (This came up because I told the shampoo girl I just wanted my hair rinsed......yada, yada, yada)

I gave the mom as much info as I could and invited her to come on the board, just to read if she wanted to. She asked a lot of questions and said she looked forward to talking to me about this some more the next time I come in. Which I plan to do cause I really liked her and the whole salon. B)

I have to say I'm loving not blow-drying :D

I know!!! :lol:

The chemical straightening really took it's toll after a while--the girl who did it for me was excellent, but that stuff is potent. My hair was breaking and shedding and to tell you the truth, I kinda wanted to go more natural and stop using so much stuff on it.

I will probably grow it out a bit now that all the processed parts are gone--so yeah, I'm starting from scratch again! :P

EXACTEMENT. I imagined this, also. However, I was quite impressed with myself and my ability to drag myself, struggling mightily, into my sage, helpful persona and, well......offer a post that was responsible, mature and serious.

Helpful? Bah!!

I so very rarely partake in this kind of mid-day decadence....what kind of timing does this mother think she has, anyways?? :huh::lol:

I know what you mean. Lyme did a number on my hair. Much of it fell out and what was left broke. When I began treatment, it started growing back, so it's taken this long to replace all of it. I have about two inches of bad hair left, but it's not worth getting cut off right now as it's not that bad anymore. It's thickened up to where it used to be. Thankfully it was thick to begin with .....

      Thank you for the reply In the early 2000's I did not have the endoscopy nor the biopsy I do not have those initial records I have only consulted a GI drs in the USA

      Welcome to the forum, @numike! We sometimes get reports like yours from community members who believe their celiac disease has "gone away." We think there can sometimes be cases of remission but not long term healing and that continued consumption of gluten will eventually result in a relapse. This is the state of our knowledge at this point but there...

      Check out this celiac story I was diagnosed early 2000s with the blood test since then I have for the most part maintained a gluten-free diet Recently (August 2025) I drove from Southern Illinois to Lake Erie Ohio On the drive back I was extremely hungry and I had a coupon at a hamburger chain and I stopped and forgot to request gluten-free bun etc...

I guess I'm saying there is a question in my mind as to whether you actually ever had celiac disease. As I said above, the blood antibody testing can yield false positives. And it is also true that celiac-like symptoms can be produced by other medical conditions.

      Welcome to the forum, @numike! We sometimes get reports like yours from community members who believe their celiac disease has "gone away." We think there can sometimes be cases of remission but not long term healing and that continued consumption of gluten will eventually result in a relapse. This is the state of our knowledge at this point but there is still a lot we don't know and celiac disease continues to surprise us with new findings on a frequent basis. So, we would not advise you to abandon a strict gluten-free diet. Perhaps you can draw consolation from the fact that at the present time you seem to be able to consume gluten without consequences when in situations where you do not have the option to eat gluten-free. But I would advise you to not generalize your recent experience such that you throw caution to the wind. But I want to go back to what you said about being diagnosed by blood test in the early 2000's. Did you not also have that confirmed with an endoscopy and biopsy of the small bowel lining? Normally, a celiac disease diagnosis is not concluded based on a blood test alone because there can be false positives. What kind of doctor did this testing? Was it done in the U.S. or overseas? In the last few years, it has become common in the U.K. to grant a celiac diagnosis from blood testing alone if the antibody test scores are 10x normal or greater. But that practice has not caught on in the U.S. yet and was not in place internationally in the early 2000's. Do you have a record of the tests that were done, the scores and also the reference ranges for negative vs. positive for the tests?

I promptly ate both of them and had absolutely no problem since then I've been eating plenty of gluten  Is my celiac gone?  Insert: No, celiac disease cannot just end because there is no cure for it; however, a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet allows the small intestine to heal and symptoms to go away. To manage the condition effectively, you must strictly avoid all sources of gluten, including wheat, barley, and rye, which are common in the American diet. Sticking to the diet can lead to significant symptom improvement and intestinal healing, but it requires ongoing commitment and monitoring with a healthcare professional  Regarding medical test I had My stools analyzed Giardia Ag Cryptosporidium Ag and they came back negative  I had the lactulose test and it came back high so I'm on two weeks of heavy antibiotics That still has not stopped me from eating gluten. Here's what I think is going on and I hope to have your opinion regarding it  Since I've been gluten-free for so long my intestinal tract has repaired itself consequently anything I eat with gluten now just bounces right off with no damage to my gut  however  when I asked AI what was going on the reply was celiac has not gone away and  if I continue to eat gluten I'm going to have problems   I look forward to your sage advice as to what the heck is going on with me Thank you for reading Mike 09112025
