Wait--what movie?? I am going with teens tomorrow to see that Dane Cook movie, "Employee of the Month". Anyone see that one yet? I think it just came out.

We saw a family movie called "Facing the Giants". It was a low-budget movie with a few bright spots - the boys really liked it because it was mostly about football. My girls and I want to see "The Guardian" tomorrow. "Employee of the Month" looked pretty good in the previews.

oops....it was that Triticum Toxicum Sillius Maximus, Richard.....

:lol::lol: Did he get his gluteus maximus out of here yet?

Jessica,

Hope you feel better in the morning and get a good night's sleep. :)

Guest melannen

Thanks :), though I doubt I'll sleep well (stupid insomnia!)

Well, I went to bed and missed all the makeup talk! :D

My husband actually likes it when I wear makeup--especially eye shadow and mascara. I don't wear it everyday anymore, since I'm home, though.

Robbin, I use Bare Escentuals Regular Mascara. It dosen't irritate or anything and it comes in colors. It's not as good, frankly, as some others I used to use, but it dosen't bother my eyes. I've heard some of the newer mascaras from them have wheat, but the original does not.

I see The Dave popped his head in last night! Glad he came by!

Pantyhose--ugh! Can't remember the last time I wore those!

melannen--I hope you are feeling better this morning! :) You too, Robbin :D

Big hi to everone else!

40something women, men, and ish ishs,

I will be off for the next few days. My in laws come today to help finish packing/cleaning, and mom comes tonight. Tomorrow we load the truck and drive to Fairfax. Monday we unload. Eric (husband) drives back to Virginia Beach on Tuesday (he hasn't found a job yet because my position happened so quickly!). Tuesday through Sunday it'll be just me, the traumatized cats (they hate moving, they are already freaking out!), and a house full of boxes. I hope to have internet sometime that week. New job starts Oct 16th.

So----hope all is well. If anyone needs to get in touch with me, the best way would be to PM/email as if I get access, thats probably the first thing I'll check.

Hope all is well in the celiac land......wish me luck!

xoxo,

Laura

why is it that you turn 40 or 50 and finally have the self confidence you didn't have a younger woman and BOOM! Nature takes it course and you are staring at a middle aged, slightly wrinkled, slightly saggy woman when you look in the mirror. You got it all together finally and BOOM! you're back to square one.....

I have never felt more self-confident, relaxed, assured and poised that I do now....talk about wish I knew at 18 what I know now!!

What's a woman to do?!

jerseyangel Proficient

Laura, Best of luck with everything! Moving is always a pain, but you'll get through it and get on with your exciting new job! Remember to pace yourself :D

See you when you get back! :)

Deb--You said a mouthful there! ;):D

This thread is funny... I'm not always here enough to know all the personalities but I guess I should hang around more.

I have fake nails... I have thin fine hair and my nails are the same way, they DO NOT grow long, they are so thin they bend and break so I started getting acrylics and for the past year I have Creative nail pink and white acrylics... so I have a french manicure that never chips, scratches, fades. But high maintenance, they have to be done every 2 weeks.

I guess I'm a girly girl... I love clothes, make up, shoes, handbags. However I grew up in Michigan so I can ride a dirt bike and use a circular saw too! My boyfriend (of 5 plus years) loves me with make up and all girly girl, but he also loves me in the morning with my hair sticking up and no make up. He's a real charmer so don't get me started on him.

I don't get in to Grey's... I've tried... I love Lost and now my daughter and I watch Jerico which is on just before Lost... I can't watch it without her because it scares me too much (its my worst nightmare, about getting nuked). My daughter told me if I tell anyone I like Meerkat Manor she will run away from home. HA HA so don't tell her I just told you all.

Well.... I can't wait to come back and read another 20 pages but I'm off shopping in Boston!

Good morning all ish-ishes!

I was on the trampoline thing before the cosmos (thank God)! It must have been the full moon (and the maple sugar cotton candy I ate at the fair- I haven't had that much sugar in probably 10 years but it was the ONLY thing I could eat there). I was quite amped up!!!!!!

Jessica- I hope you feel better today. :(:D

Penguin- It's good to see you!

I love makeup. I wear it even though my hubby isn't a big fan. I just think it's fun and I have acne (pure skin until I tuned 18 folowed by 20 years of adult acne. WTH? Oh well). I like Lavera mascara. I got it at whole foods and it's gluten free ($$$). But I also like Lumene (you can only get it at CVS-it's a Finnish company) and I seem to remember liking Neutrogena (reread the labels though because I'm not sure if it's all gluten-free.

Dingo Girl- You are far too hard on yourself. You are GORGEOUS inside and out!!!!! Don't make me fly out there and whip your butt (unless there's already snow in Tahoe- than I can fly out there, whip your butt, kidnap you and we can go up to Tahoe, ski, drink cocoa, sit in hot tubs and find you a cute man!)

Deb, I agree, I have much more self-confidence and poise now than ever. I feel like I've earned the wrinkles and sags, they represent the aging I've had to go through to get here .... so, embrace your new look that goes with your new attitude!

Susan/pixie (Oh, no, two Susans!!), my hubby is the same way, he loves it when I get all dressed up girly girly, he loves it when I wake up in the morning with Kramer hair, and he loves it when I'm all casual with little makeup on (always have mascara, I am a natural blonde, not this particular color, but I am a blonde).

Good morning everyone!

jerseyangel Proficient

Good morning Beverly!

I have to say that you had me at *maple sugar cotton candy* :D That sounds soooo good!

AndreaB Contributor

Good Morning All!

Have a safe and as non stressed move as possible Laura. We'll see you when you get back.

Bev,

Sounds like you had a good time. Also sounds like a good idea that you come out and take Susan (dingogirl) to Tahoe. :D

Susan, (pixie) Have fun!

Deb, Howdy!

Patti, Good to see your smiling kitty. :P He reminds me of a cat I had when I was younger. I think I got her in 4th grade. She didn't have a white spot on the side of her nose/cheek though.

Oh maaaan :( First I miss the CBS news piece, and now I find out there were girls on trampolines here last night?!

This is my luck :P

Speaking of luck (all bad) I'm hiding out. So much for the egtaway weekend  The kids have gone to grandmas, but the wife is PMSing (anybody want to throw me some nuggets to help tame the beast?) and not in any mood for anything other than a nap and lots of personal space. On the up side we might go out later and argue about refrigerators to celebrate :(

Full moon... <_<

Girls on trampolines...anybody ever watch "The Man Show"? It's kind of like Oprah - without Oprah and Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil's part is played by mugs of beer and Oprah is (used to be) channeled by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla. It was a great show until kimmel and carolla left

Anyway, happy weekend!

Richard, your wife needs to be taking oil of evening primrose, B-Complex 100, and magnesium ... every single day, in addition to a good multiple. There is NO PMSing in our house ... even with 2 teenage girls. I used to teach NFP, this formula has helped many, many women. Go buy it for her, you are probably more motivated than she is.

I have heard of that show, never seen it, but I think my husband has when he travels.

You're being a bad boy .... good thing you're hiding.

AndreaB Contributor

Sorry Richard. When the kids are away is supposed to be relaxation time and adult time.

I'm home with a baby that is a little warm. He may be teething. The others should be home within two hours.

I am so glad to be past that ... well, sort of past that ... our boy from Russia had to learn to sleep through everything in the orphanage, so he still does sleep through everything .... still wearing pull-ups at 10. At least he's old enough to clean up his own messes now!!

That's harsh. Makeup used properly to enhance features rather than change them gives a natural appearance. I have full makeup on in my avatar ... I don't THINK I look like a clown!!! Though my husband does and he has no makeup on whatsoever!!!!

so do you have celiac or not? 🤔 why are your vision issues undiagnosed? 😢 what does your ophthalmologist say?  do you have a serious vit A deficiency? what do you take for it? how long have you had celiac disease and how long did  it take to get a diagnosis?   if you are legally blind there are adaptive devices that will help you. I have vision difficulties as well but did not qualify (at least not yet)   do you have a vit A deficiency? why are you undiagnosed? what does your ophthalmologist say? I have a retinal specialist and he tells me my eye condition can not be fixed- until/unless it gets to the point of where surgery is safer since the surgery can leave me actually blind... so you want to wait til it gets really bad 🤪     I hope you find what works for you.    PS   the medication I started at the same time as the gluten challenge is obvious from the condition it's trying to treat. you can google it 😉 it is not an for any auto immune condition.

@catnapt,  I apologize.  Obviously I've confused you with someone else.  I have vision problems due to undiagnosed Celiac complications.  Being legally blind, y'all look the same from here.   You still have not said which new medication you started taking.  Parathyroid disorders can affect antibody production.  Bone Loss Correlated with Parathyroid Hormone Levels in Adult Celiac Patients https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36619734/ Effect of vitamin B1 supplementation on bone turnover markers in adults: an exploratory single-arm pilot study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12075007/

during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ   the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least.    no anemia however the endo who ordered the celiac panel is the one who suggested the 2 week gluten challenge of eating at least 2 slices of bread per day or a serving of pasta- ALSO put me on a new drug at the same time (not a good idea)  I ate 4 slices because they were thin, or 2 English muffins, and just once some lasagna that someone else made since I stopped eating wheat pasta years ago. The English muffins caused some of the worst symptoms but that pc of lasagna almost killed me ( not literally but the pain was extreme) during those 12 days there were at least 3 times I considered going to Urgent Care.   This entire process was a waste of time TBH due to being on that new drug at the exact same time. it is impossible to tell if the drug I am taking for the possible renal calcium leak is working or not- given the dramatic response to the gluten challenge and resulting nausea (no vomiting) and eventually a loss of appetite and lower intake of foods so now I have a dangerously low potassium level   I don't have a simple case of celiac or no- I have an extremely complicated case with multiple variables I am seeing an endocrinologist for a problem with the calcium sensing glands - that system is very complicated and she has been unable to give me a firm diagnosis after many tests with confusing and often alarming results. She also appears to be inexperienced and unsure of herself. but I don't have the luxury of finding a new endo due to multiple issues of insurance, lack of drs in my area, money and transportation. so I'm stuck with her At least she hasn't given up    in any case I can assure you that lectins are not and never were the problem. I know they are a favorite villain in some circles to point to, but I have ZERO symptoms from my NORMAL diet which DOES NOT contain gluten. The longer I went without bread or foods with wheat like raisin bran cereal, the better I have felt. my body had been telling me for several years that wheat was the problem- or maybe specifically gluten, that remains to be seen- and stopping eating it was the best thing I could have done   I almost had unnecessary MAJOR SURGERY due to joint pain that I ONLY have if I am eating bread or related products I assumed it was the refined grains - never really suspected gluten but it does not matter I won't put that poison in my body ever again not that it is literally poison but it is def toxic to me
    • knitty kitty
@catnapt,  I'm sorry you're having such a rough time.   How much wheat germ and how much gluten were you eating? Lectins in beans can be broken down by pressure cooking them.  Do you pressure cook your beans?  Were you pressure cooking your wheat germ? What drugs are you taking?  Some immunosuppressive drugs affect IgA production.  Do you have anemia?
    • catnapt
oops my gluten challenge was only 12 days It started Jan 21s and ended Feb 1st   worst 12 days of my life   Does not help that I also started on a thiazide-like drug for rule in/out renal calcium leak at the exact same time No clue if that could have been symptoms worse 🤔
