Potato Intolerance

I am new to this site and I am wondering if anyone has any intollerance to potatoes. I have been having sever stomach problems for over a year now and so I started logging what I was eating and every time I would eat any kind of potato I would be in the bathroom for about 3 or 4 hours with stomach cramping to severe diarrea. I have not been to the doctor, but I have stopped eating potatoes of any kind and I have not had the first stomach problem. Everyone thinks I am crazy. I have lost 20 pds. but I do miss my potatoes. I can eat other starches, just not potatoes.

Can anyone relate or am I crazy?

No, you're not crazy at all. Potatoes are one of my problem foods, and will cause the same symptoms you're having. After not eating them for about a year you may get away with having some about once a month again. I find that I can. But if I get carried away and eat them again the next day, I'll definitely have a problem. And of course, they used to be my favourite food (together with German rye bread :( !

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
