My mom just got back from two weeks in Italy, and she made sure to bring some gluten-free pasta back for my daughter and me!!! And she brought some gluten-free biscottini's! The pasta is Bi-Aglut and Schar brands, I made some of the Bi-Aglut tonight and OMG!!!!! It was wonderful! It tasted great even without sauce on it!!! I made the Penne pasta tonight... Is there somewhere I can order the Bi-Aglut pasta here in the states????!!!!! Or the Schar? I haven't tried that one yet but I can't wait!

I heard about Bi-Aglut on this board somewhere, and I completely agree! It's SO good. Haven't tried the Schar though. Can't wait to hear how it compares.

Bi-Aglut is very popular in Italy - for one it is Italian. Great products! Schar as well. Bi-Aglut also has a gluten-free beer but only available in Europe. Tastes pretty good. My family keeps some stocked when I travel across the pond to visit. You have to order it from the pharmacia.

I love Bi-Aglut pastta!!!!I find it at my health food store. Nini, do you have a store where you shop at? Maybe they would carry it for you. I'd just keep pestering the store to carry that brand. Most everywhere has Tinkyada which is my other choice for jumbo stuffing shells as I can't find anyone else who makes them.Rizopia is another brand that is hard to find but Bi-Aglut is the best.....

I posted a long time ago a chicken & garlic dish with penne pasta. It is soooo yummy..

I hope you have a supply until you find it again.......

i just bought the biaglut pasta! it was eight dollars!!! so i bought one pack to eat on my birthday tommorow so i'm excited to eat it! i bought it in toronto so not sure what stores sell it in the states.

I am so impresseed with the Bi-Aglut pasta! I had some leftover from what I made last night in the fridge and not only did it taste good cold, but when I reheated it and put stir fried broccoli and pork on top with a little butter and pepper... OMG!!! It was delicious! This is the most like real pasta any gluten-free pasta has ever tasted! I can't believe it didn't even fall to pieces whtn I reheated it!

I'm going to pester my local health food store to see if they can't get it in (hubby works there so I have an in!!!)

Celiac disease is extremely common in Italy, actually. Several years ago, I did research on it. Sources said it was most prevalent among the Italians. 1 in every 150 people to be exact at the time had it.

More current figures report that those of Anglo-Celtic descent are more likely to have it. Maybe you could do a search on it and find a local vendor. If it were not for Google, I probably would not find anything! He he!

I too had read that it is common in Italy, I read that they actually screen all schoolchildren for it automatically, like they do vision and hearing and scoliosis screenings here...

I did find it on Google, LOVE IT! and am going to pester the heck out of the buyer at the store my hubby works for... they are currently in the process of expanding their gluten-free section anyway, so it would be nice to have a variety of pastas and to be able to say "this is authentic Italian pasta"...

All I can say is 'I told you so' - lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both pasta brands are the best on the market in my opinon and best of all they are also good as a cold pasta. I long for the day when I dont' have to pay shipping for it so PLEASE tell me if your store starts carrying it and I'll come over and get a six month supply. Also, schar makes ladyfingers so I'm ordering them to make tiramisu. I posted about both brands months ago and no one seemed to care. If you want a cheaper alternative Bionature really is decent, better than Tinky to me. But nothing bests Bi-Aglut, Schar is my second fave but it's really not that different! So glad you are hooked on it too now Nisla! Bon Appetit!

stinker. I did care when you mentioned it before, I just couldn't afford to order it, AND I had to go with what my local store carries! But, they did just start carrying Bionature pastas so I think I can talk them into carrying Bi-Aglut and Schar! I'll keep you posted!

When I knew my mom was going to Italy I asked her to keep an eye out for gluten-free pasta while she was there... I really didn't expect her to bring me back any.

that is so neat that your hubby's work may be you savior in finding the BiAglut locally... If you have the time you should volunteer your knowledge , that way you would be getting the better products close to home!!!!!

We have Giant Eagle stores here that carry some gluten-free. When I called the buyer for the speciality section she did not want to hear anything about popular products.... like they carry lunberg pasta! That was the dfirst pasta I found when starting out. I cooked that & ended up with a gob of sticky paste I couldn't eat. I remember that day I cried about the diet.I love pasta.I asked why she wouldn't be interested in knowing about better foods & her comment was "I need this job & I think you want my job" I tried to tell her I really did not want her job as I have enough on my plate but I follow the diet & just would like to be able to buy locally instead of traveling hours to get good products. I even volunteed to go to the corporate office & help by bringing them samples of the good stuff....At the end of the conversation I asked if she new anything about the diet or any other allergy that requires a special diet & she said no . It was just her job to buy for that dept. Don't you just love it......

I guess I'm naive in thinking they might want some input.....

people sure act funny when they think you are after their job. Fortunately the lady that is the buyer at hubby's store also has to be gluten-free, and so does her daughter and at least 3 other employees that work there, so she has a vested interest in stocking the store with good gluten-free food options. She goes to the trade shows and is always looking for the latest greatest product to bring in, and she has brought in products before on my recommendation, sooooooo...

I cant wait to order this pasta! I will be doing so in a minute.. but mamaw.. you mentioned a chicken and garlic recipe... will you post that again?? I do not know how to do a proper search on this site.. I put things in the search box.. and I get a million threads that have nothing to do with what I am looking for!!

So if you dont mind... I need a different recipe to love along with ninis oven fried chicken!

BI-AGLUT ROCKS!!! seriously!!! Its THE BEST pasta!!!!!! but could someone tell me how to reheat the BI-Aglut pasta?? When I just reheat it normally it gets all hard and eww.. So if people could just write down how they reheat their Bi-Aglut I would reall appreciate it. :)

I don't think I've ever reheated except in the microwave. Now it's always had sauce or something in it so maybe that makes a difference?

Nisla - I know my own Ceilac Mother was in Italy and didn't even look for gluten-free pasta to bring back (I told her the brands) or order any gluten-free beer from the pharmacia. Eight of my parents friends were with them and I think maybe that's why she didn't bother. Man, if I ever get back to Italy I'll probably want to stay! Schar makes gluten-free everything but most things never make it this far, even for online orders.

Hi Everyone

Schar is a great product line I really like almost all their stuff. I know a store called the Raisin Rack in Columbus & Canton Ohio sells Schar & I'm fairly sure they ship If not The Gluten Free Trading Company ships & carries Schar too... I have ordered from gluten-free trading before & everything comes fairly quick.

Here is the recipe for the garlic chicken... I don't have a written recipe but this is what I do & everyone loves this. So you can make alot or as little as you want. I usually make a big roaster full as all my family eats it, not just us gluten-free ones!!!!

Chicken ,Garlic & veggies

Skinned ,boneless chicken, cut up in bite size pieces

garlic minced

I use garlic oil when I saute the above two ingredients. If you can't find the garlic oil I use olive oil.

Again you can do alot or alittle. ( For us, I used four pounds chicken & about 8 to 10 garlic cloves) along with the garlic oil>>>.

California blend frozen veggies ( brocili, cawliflower, carrots)cook the way the pkg states. For us , I used a 3 # bag.

Fresh yellow & green zucchini 's cut up ( I steam them a bit but leave them still firm not mushy) ( 3 or 4 for us)

Fresh mushrooms sliced( I don't steam them) ( 8 oz for us)

1 or 2 fresh tomatoes , chopped ( I remove most of the seeds & skin

)

After chicken is cooked & no longer pink I add all the rest adding more oil & I heat all until hot stirring it all together & everything coated with the oil.I add our favorite spices. ( parsley, basil, oregano, a dash of crushed hot peppers) Again taste & add more spice if you like spicey.

Cook penne gluten-free pasta ( I use Bi Aglut) until ala dente. Add to the chicken, veggie mixture.

at this point some add parmesan, romano cheese & eat & others like a marina sauce with the cheese.

This is such a simple easy thing to make & you can adjust the ingredients any way you like.

Somtimes we eat it cold without marina sauce for a leftover meal. That doesn't happen very often as it gets eaten up quickly...This is also a good easy thing to take to a social dinner..

I hope this isn't to confusing, I just started throwing things in a pan & it became a fav. of my family. Ours small kids love it too.

Sorry no one answered!!! But when I reheat it usually has sauce over it. I nuke mine.... If I was heating plain pasta I would put it in a pan of boiling water until heated to my liking. If you nuke it dry or plain I think it would get funny.Thanks my opinion......

if it's plain I toss it in boiling water for just a minute, if it's got sauce on it I just pop it in the microwave to reheat. I also store plain cooked gluten-free pasta in freezer bags in the freezer and then just pop it in a pot of boiling water until warm. Only takes a few minutes and watch it close cos you don't want it to get mushy.

      Hi, I bought Naked Nutrition Creatine. It lists itself as gluten free but is not certified. (It used to be, but they dropped it in the past year or two apparently.) I wrote the company and asked them what testing results they had for creatine and they sent me the attached, which says the test result for gluten is <0.025MCG. I'm used to seeing test results as ppm, so I'm not sure what <0.025MCG means. Can it be converted to ppm easily? I want to confirm that it is safe to use.

      When I was still recovering my gastroenterologist suggested I bought lactofree product as I was very bloated.  So I bought some from the supermarket and from memory, I drank a nice big glass of milk - and it went right through me literally within an hour or so, if my memory serves correctly.  I came off dairy completely next and it worked like a charm, but started to reintroduce quite gradually it as I missed it! To this day, if I overdo dairy products, they work like a mild laxative.  I've never wanted to give up milk completely as I like it so much, and my mum had osteoporosis and it's an easy way of getting calcium.  But it doesn't really 'sit' well with me.   You may need to experiment a bit as when I was healing certain dairy products were worse than others - I could cope with one brand of Greek yoghurt, but I got extremely and painfully bloated with another brand of live British yoghurt.

      i have been strictly gluten free for 7 months. this includes avoiding anything that may contain gluten and making sure surfaces and appliances are clean. i am 18 years old in australia and my tTG-IgA results were 69U/mL, pretty low compared to most people's, for reference. i feel the exact same as before. sure, i was pretty much asymptomatic/silent. the worst i'd get was occasionally bad stools and pitting of the nails/brittle hair since early childhood - and i was diagnosed with low iron and vitamin d which checks out due to easy bruising and such. but those symptoms have remained. maybe i'm jumping the gun, sure. i know it can take years to fully heal. but being over half a year in, i feel that i should be, y'know, healing. i'm nearly at my wits end and wondering if i should have a piece of bread or something to see how i go - to see if i possibly have refractory? my mental health is declining as i feel myself wanting to bang my head against a damn wall out of frustration every day. cravings haven't gotten better. look, i love the stuff i still can have, like salads and such. OH! i haven't lost any weight, which is mind boggling considering i eat very healthily now! i've always been on the chubbier side which is atypical of coeliac. i just don't know what's going on with me. i try to remain hopeful but i'm just so sad all the time. thanks for reading

      @Charlie1946There is a PM (Personal Message) tool built into the forum website that allows you to send a private message to other forum users. Just hover over their name with your mouse cursor and the menu containing that tool will pop up. This is useful if you want to communicate with an individual without everyone else involved in the thread seeing it.  Are you realizing that in my PPI taper down recommendations in an earlier post above, I was responding not to your posts but to @Caligirl57? If you must use a PPI, I certainly would advise taking the lowest dose that is effective for you.
