Got Glutened Again

Sat. morning my daughter and I went over to my mom's to visit with a cousin that was in town for a few days and my mom offered to make breakfast for me. (they were already eating gluten filled pancakes and that should've been a clue to stop right there) but I let her make gluten free pancakes anyway, she used the Pamela's mix, McCormicks vanilla, a clean pan and a clean spatula, but even still within 20 minutes I was in the bathroom with awful D... the only thing I can think is because I'm so micro sensitive, that there was still gluten dust in the air and on things from her making the regular pancakes. My daughter had already eaten at home so she was fine, but me... I've been really bloated and crampy ever since and have been eating like a pig, craving all kinds of bad junk (candy mostly) and today I broke down in tears because I drove into work and my client didn't show up  , I should've just let it roll off me, maybe been a little mad, but no, I had to start crying about how stressed I am about money and how every single client that no shows on me costs me money and I'm already stressed about that. UGH.

I'm cranky and irritable and I hate it that I'm that freakin sensitive that gluten dust in the air would affect me this way.

On top of everything I want to just give up my job and give up my house and sell it all and move away. Wah Wah Wah...

(and I'm supposed to be the strong one, the gluten-free lifestyle coach and all that crap.)

sorry for the vent I'm just really feeling cranky and moody right now and I can really only tell you guys.

So sorry, Nini :( Wish I could bring you some gluten-free candy to enjoy!!

I am sorry that you are not feeling well. And please do not worry about venting, this is a safe place and we are here to lift each other up. I hope you are feeling better soon both physically and mentally.

Aw Nini--that sucks  Gosh--I get that way too! Go ahead and rant away--we understand. And, it sucks :angry:

Sorry to hear that you are sick. It makes it so much harder to deal with everyday problems when you just don't feel well. At least your daughter didn't get sick. I can't imagine dealing with a glutened child when you were glutened yourself.

Hope you feel better soon.

Having a no show and being stressed about finances can take down the healthiest of people.....let alone someone who is suffering from a glutening.

Hope you get over this quickly. Hugs. :)

thank you my friends for being there...

I'm waiting for the rice to finish cooking so I can feed my child... otherwise I just wanna curl up in a ball and cry. Hubby won't be home until 9 or so and my daughter is picking up on my mood and is taking advantage of the situation... I'm trying so hard to be nice...

Oh Nini... I'm so sorry you're having such an awful day.

Hugs.. :(

Nisla,

so so sorry your sick....but you know...gluten free life coaches can get sick and have 'down days too' so ahead and rant here ....we love ya,

Why is it whenever we desparately need our hubbies home, they have to work late. Just like a child to make things more difficult. Somehow I think one or more of mine would do the same.....depends on what kind of mood they were in.

Guest nini

it seems like every little thing I ask her to do sets her off into a fit of "not fair" "it takes too long" "why me?" and on and on and the tears...

aww nini.. I hope you feel better soon. I know I get the same way when glutened and for some reason.. Colin just doesnt understand! (he is only 18 months old)

I am sorry everything feels like it is coming down on you. (((((((HUGS))))))))

Nini,

Hugs to you. You are such a great support to all of us, I hope that you know we are all thinking of you. It stinks to go through this, esp when you know all the "answers" (i.e., this will pass, it will get better, it happens to all of us)

I hope you have a restful night's sleep and you wake up with a clear head and heart.

Love,

Laura

thanks... is it wrong of me to eat a fudgesicle? (it's gluten-free)

Dang I feel so bloated and HUNGRY... I feel like I've done nothing but EAT today...

thanks for the support and hugs and for letting me vent. My mom felt bad that I got sick despite how careful she was. We were both surprised... but it was an obvious glutening as it happened within 20 minutes of eating and hasn't gone away...

Wow, I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. I hope it clears up soon.

It happens to the best of us and all you can do is ride it out.

Heck, no! Anything that makes you feel better and is comfort food (even though you'll be unhappy in the long run for gaining weight :rolleyes::blink: ).

I hope you feel better soon. And tell your daughter to be nice, because you have been glutened and are in a terrible mood. I bet she'll understand that.

I'll sit in the corner and stick my tongue out at the world with you......until you feel better and feel like being the proactive, gluten-free life coach again, which you do so very well.

Guest nini

thanks guys, I am feeling just a bit better today, not 100% but enough that I don't completely hate the world today. Last night I told my hubby I want to run away. He said that's not possible, he doesn't know how he'd live without me (say a collective AWWWWWWWW)...

I actually have a client waiting to be coached and I haven't called him back yet, bad me. Hopefully I can do that today.

I have had celiac for many years and still had terrible digestion. I cook from scratch, never eat anything with gluten ( A Gut that needs special attention seems to affect many who suffer from celiac) .  I made my own Kombucha, it helped my Gut much more than the yogurt I made but I still had issues. Water Kefir did nothing. As a last resort I made MILK Kefir and it has really started healing my Gut. It has been about 2 months now and I am doing so much better. It was trial and error getting the right PH in the Kefir ferment that agreed with my stomach, too little ferment, too much, I finally hit the right one for me. Milk Kefir has the most probiotics than any of the other. I can't find my notes right now but there are at least 30 probiotics in Kefir, Kombucha has about 5-7 and yogurt around 3 if I recall correctly.  I wish you all the best, I know how frustrating this condition can be.

@cristiana Hi, thank you so much, I will look into those books for sure! And get bloodwork at my next appointment. I have never been told I have TMJ, but I have seen information on it and the nerve issue while googling this devil plague in my mouth. Thank you so much for the advice!

Peanut Butter cookies - on the crisp side.   approx 20 smallish cookies  1 C  plus 2 tblsp rounded. 'natural' peanut butter ( the kind you have to stir to blend the PB & oils)....  I know, it's a pain!! 1/2 c granulated sugar ....plus 2 tblsp dark brown sugar 1/4 c olive oil... plus 1 tblsp 1 large egg .....and 1 tsp vanilla 2 tsp cinnamon - optional but is yummy with the PB mix the above.  In another bowl mix the following dry ingredients: 1 cup brown rice flour  ( I use this  flour as it leaves no yucky after taste in my cookies & lb cakes..... and coffee cake, I buy it at the "Bulk Barn" here in Canada....... states side try health food stores??? I'm not sure where you can buy bulk food that also carries gluten free flours. 1/2 tsp baking soda.....1/4 tsp salt   (I use the pink sea salt) Mix well or sift, then mix with wet ingredients. heat oven to 350f, line baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll about 2 tblsp dough between your hands, place on cookie sheet and press down  with a fork.   The flatter the cookie the crispier it is.     Bake 13-14 min  When done leave on baking sheet till cool. Cheers, Florence

I know it's after the holidays, but it would still be fun to do a cookie recipe exchange on this forum.
