i use Redkin products right now, specifically the blonde glam and Nioxxin intensive therapy hair maske.

I have been gluten-free for nearly two weeks and now my head is breaking out and my face in this raised itchy rash- my scalp has several scabs in it now. :o i am thinking maybe its the shampoo= it has wheat in it.

i am gonna go grab some new products tomorrow but don't even know where to begin when reading bathroom labels since it all looks greek to me...

any help? ideas? i have blonde hair with VERY heavy platinum highlights and so i need a really good quality product, i am willing to spend to get a good product that feels good and works.

thanks!

I had no idea that we would have to think about shampoo and conditioner. My daughter was diagnosed first week of september '06. My husband was tested but showed negative. I have not been tested but suspect that I also have it. Or am at least sensitive.

Alterna has many gluten-free products...I just posted a list from them

Redken has a couple gluten-free shampoos and conditioners. I didn't look at all of them but I know smooth down and fresh curls are ok. I think I found a list of what cosmetic companies call gluten from Redken. It had all the chemical names to look out for. Most of them had wheat in them somewhere so it I don't think it is that hard to figure out by reading the labels. Their ingredients are also posted online so you can check everything before you go to the store.

Most salon quality products have wheat clearly listed in the ingredients and it is tough to find any that don't have any in them somewhere. Because of my hair type I"m forced to use salon stuff or I look like a mess!! I have found that many (if not all) Aquage products are safe to use. I have DH as well and my scalp goes crazy if I use anything unsafe. Just before I was diagnosed, my hairdresser couldn't figure out why my hair was thinning so badly...at that point I was using Aveda (which I miss dearly) but it was LOADED with wheaty stuff. They Aquage works just as well and I think it smells really good too!

Paul Mitchell does have some products that do not contain wheat. It seems they clearly list when wheat is present on their labels. I use Paul Mitchell The Wash (excellent shampoo which doubles as a body wash) and Instant Moisture Daily Treatment for conditioner. I even spoke to a sales rep who works in my salon who assured me they were safe.

Good Luck

Which Aquage products are safe for us? I have been having the hardest time finding a good quality gluten free shampoo that does not make my blonde color treated hair greesey and gross.

I fell in love with EO Shampoos and Conditioners, I love the Kreatain ones for straightening, they also have some for treated and damaged hair.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
