So we are taking the boys to Florida to visit grandparents and enjoy 8 days of sunshine. We have a condo in Orlando so I will be able to do some cooking and etc. Don't want to do much though, and knowing my family as I do, the boys will NOT want to eat in often. Breakfast is the one thing I will be able to count on.

SO....

I need to know where I can find gluten-free products, so I don't have to pack a bunch in our suitcases. I am also making Thanksgiving dinner at the in-laws, so need some gluten-free bread and etc, that I would rather not pack in my suitcase either. They are actually in Zephyr Hills. I'd like to get a lot of the stuff when we are there on Fri/Sat and leave it for T-Day.

SO .......ANYONE?????? I'd love to have a couple Chebe mixes to make crackers, a loaf of bread to toast for stuffing, and the rest I can make do with regula grocery stuff.

THanks for any help you have to offer.....

OH, and does anyone know how good Disney, MGM and Universal are with gluten-free foods??? AM I going to starve when we are out and about???? Do i need to pack my own feed bag????? :P

I can help you with the Zephyrhills part. There is a health food store on the main road, Gall Blvd near the post office. I can't remember the name of it right now. It is very small and doesn't have an impressive selection.

You will be better off going to the Dade City health food store. It is in the downtown area in the same building as the Kiefer Jewelry store. I'm sure your in-laws will know where that is. They have a good selection of bread mixes, crackers and Tinkyada pasta. It is a small store but should have what you need.

Disney is great for celiacs. They are very accommodating and I'm sure someone who has been there recently can give you some specifics.

Have a good trip.

I just took my son and many of the Disney Restaurants have things like fresh fruit, veggies and cold chiken plates with veggies.

There are also some smoothie stands which are gluten free.

Also....I highly recommend Denny's on the strip leading up to Disney.

They were very accomadating in cooking and have alot of experience with it.

I mean I take that with a grain of salt, but they will cook it on a clean grill, and make sure the food is free of anything you ask...I personally had good luck with their chicken, rice and veggies plain.

THANKS.....I will be talking to the inlaws tonight hopefully and see if they know where the Jewelry store is.

And RE: Disney.....I think I should call and see if they have a list of the gluten-free foods. I ahvent foun one online yet, but of course I have gotten distracted this morning when I started packing, I ended up deciding to clean out my closet and soooooo........I am going to be completely absorbed in getting everything put back together before kids get home, so I can get theirclothespacked!!!

Thanks again....

Jnifred--I am going to Walt Disney World in January, and I just got a bunch of things emailed to me from Disney personally about gluten-free, soy free, and dairy free foods. If you would like me to send them to you (there are about 6 documents), PM me with your email address and I can send them to you.

We went to Sea World (which was a great day!) and they totally bent over backwards to accomdate me - the manager even offered to cook my food on a sperate grill!

I used to work at Disney World and can attest the fact that they are accomodating. I work in a candy shop and while sadly most of our candy was not Celiac friendly, I do know the resturants are extremely accomodating. Tony's at Magic Kingdom actully told a family with a child recently diagnosed about all types of bread the child could have. Just tell you waitress or waiter and they will pass it on to the chef, and most times from what families have told me is that the chef will personally come and talk to the family. I hope this helps. Oh also most buffets have fresh vegetables and grilled meats as well as salads and other foods.

Hello jmengert, I am new to this website (just joined yesterday) and Celiac's Disease. Next month, I'm taking my daughter to Disneyworld and saw your post about the info you received. I was wondering if there is anyway you would be willing to share that info again. I hope its not out of line or anything to ask. Thanks. Connie

If you type in gluten free dining in Disney world you will get some good info. I am researching myself right now. Also there is a Whole food one exit up from Orlando in winter Park. There is also an Outback, PF changs, and Carabbas.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
