On Dec 5 I was given my diagnosis of Coeliac Disease. On that day I was weighed by the doc at 10 st.2 pounds.

Today I went for my Bone Density Scan and was weighed as 9 st. 11 pounds. I have been Gluten -free since Dec 5, my appetite is good, yet I have apparently lost 5 pounds in weight??? I kinda expected to have gained weight???!!!

Anybody else have this experience?

Mike.

Yes, probably most of us do. You may have been bloated 'retaining water' the first time you were weighed. Other foods besides gluten can and often do cause a bloated look and feeling in many Celiacs.

Today I looked in the mirror and I look less bloated I am actually getting flat. I have not seen that in years I have only been gluten free for about 3 weeks and already I have lost over 5lbs and I am looking and feeling better so much better. I kinda feel like "Stella" getting my grove back :D . Being gluten free is not such a bad thing after all, this is one big plus after all the food I must give up. Keep it up its worth it.

Do you know the song "I've got a new attitude" I am feeling good from my head to my shoe (or something like that) I've got a new attitude :P

So, having a 'distended and firm belly of gas' is probably a sign of intolerance? Also; am I the only one that got worse indigestion after eating the saltines everyone tells you to eat??????

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
