hey fellow iowans!!

i discovered an AMAZING pizza that is sold by hyvee stores. it was "invented" by a guy that has a talk show on the radio and the crust is made of cheese. you may have heard about it because i believe he's talked about it on air, but i just wanted to let everyone know that it is completely worth it to try!!! it tastes like a REAL, normal, greasy piece of pizza-parlor pizza!!! :D haha def. not something you should eat on a regular basis...but the best pizza i've had in ages. it's found in the normal freezer section with other frozen pizzas in an orange box!

Good to see you Katrinamaria..you look so young!! I too have heard this new pizza advertised lately

on WHO..Van harden is his name. think he is also the one who invented a clock - calendar so his not well mother could tell time. As soon as I get over lactose intolerance I want to try it too.

Also in case you don't know it Hy Vee has a long list of gluten free foods that are available in their stores. Our small store has a small health food section too and if you have their list you can find a lot of gluten free foods there. Hy Vee stores in Des Moines have very good selection and dd brings me items from there..$70.00 worth of it this last weekend. She is a jewel!! I made some of the best bread/ yeast in my bread maker, served it to all and all liked it. ;) So glad you came on

and told about the pizza. hope you are well!! :) Just type in gluten free at Hy Vee and you ahould get the list, it ws updated 2 months ago. evie

thanks evie! i know i'm in love with the health food area at hyvee too!! we have a whole new store here in CF and it is great! i'll have to check out their website. people just don't understand that out here on the prairie we don't have the great big health food stores or anything like it! :D haha that's great about your bread! i love a gluten-free food success. i hope you get a chance to try the pizza, it was really a treat

These are GREAT pizzas. We tried them as soon as we found out about them. Our favorite is the sausage. My non gluten-free husband loves these. Myself and my daughter who are gluten-free were thrilled to have found an edible pizza. HyVee is great around here about getting things in that you request and carries more gluten-free foods than the local health food stores do. We live in eastern Iowa.

Good News. I talked with Van Harden the other day, he invented the Cheese Crust Pizza selling at Hy-Vee stores. Well, he said that starting Feb 19th, 2007 you can order the Van Harden Frozen Cheese Crust Pizzas from his web site. Open Original Shared Link

My wife and I have had both the fresh and the frozen Van Harden pizza, and we like the frozen the best!

I have had a reaction to chocolate within 2 hours, severe abrupt dieherra.  With alcohol it can extend up to 12 hrs before the first reaction, but not as severe as chocolate.  I am also allergic to all fish and carry an epihpen.

Welcome to the forum @oyea, have you ever been screened for celiac disease? You symptoms sound like they could be celiac disease related.

Since chocolate has a laxative/stimulant effect on the digestive system, similar to coffee, some people do report IBS-like symptoms when they eat it, however, as long as the chocolate is gluten-free, the cause of such symptoms would be unrelated to celiac disease.

Since those with celiac disease have a much higher change of having or getting additional autoimmune diseases it could definitely affect your health insurance rates. Prior to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals with celiac disease could indeed be charged significantly higher premiums for private health insurance or even be denied coverage altogether, as it was a pre-existing condition that insurers could medically underwrite. The ACA's protections, which prohibit denying coverage or charging higher premiums based on health status, eliminated this practice, ensuring people with celiac disease could not be penalized financially for their diagnosis. However, this protection is not inherently permanent and is tied directly to the ACA's continued existence and enforcement; should the law be substantially weakened or repealed in the future, it is possible that a return to medical underwriting could once again allow insurers to charge individuals with pre-existing conditions like celiac disease higher premiums for their health coverage.

@Jmartes71, your story is a powerful and heartbreaking testament to the profound failure of the medical system to understand and properly manage celiac disease and its long-term consequences. Being dismissed and medically gaslit for three decades after an initial diagnosis is an unimaginable burden that has cost you your health, your career, and your sense of justice. The fact that a primary care physician of 25 years would offer to "fluff up" a disability claim rather than properly advocate for you based on a well-documented history is a devastating betrayal. While the positive HLA-DQ2 test offers a sliver of validation, it is infuriating that it isn't enough to end the fight, and it is completely understandable that you find this ongoing battle for basic belief and care to be utterly exhausting and deeply unfair.
