Forget it, I already know....

I ate them about 1 hour ago, thinking they were gluten free. I am definitely having a reaction, so I don't even have to wait for an answer.....

How stupid can I be???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

See, even us veterans make stupid mistakes........................

I know that unfortunately you already have your answer, but I thought I would post the Rolo ingredients from the Nestle Canada website.

"Ingredients

GLUCOSE-FRUCTOSE (FROM WHEAT AND/OR CORN), SUGAR, MILK INGREDIENTS, COCOA BUTTER, MODIFIED PALM AND PALM KERNEL OIL, UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE, LACTOSE, SOYA LECITHIN, SALT, POLYGLYCEROL POLYRICINOLEATE, SODIUM CARBONATE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOUR.

MADE OF EQUIPMENT THAT ALSO PROCESSES WHEAT."

I am impressed with the new Nestle site. They didn't used to have ingredients listed.

I swear I read the ingredients, the ingredients list was NOT as detailed as that, there was not mention of wheat......

Paulr Rookie

GO TO WWW.PENNY.CA THEN GO ON CELIAC CANADA MAILING LIST IT SAY'S ROLO IS GLUTEN FREE BUT CHECK OUT ALL THE OTHER ITEM'S I FELT GREAT WHEN I SAW THIS GOOD LUCK KEEP SMILING

You had my hopes up there for a second, but when I went in there, the list indeed say Rolos, but the list was last updated August 2000. It's almost 7 years out of date..... I went to the Nestle's website, sure enough, wheat is listed right on the ingredients in the website, but not on the packaging....

Paulr Rookie

I SHOULD HAVE READ THE DATES ON IT GIVE UP CHOCOLAT BARS AND TRY DAIRY QUEEN THEIR LIST IS UP TO DATE. I'M NEW TO ALL THIS 6 WEEKS IN GOOD LUCK

Karen,

You should call/write them and complain about this.

I'm so sorry you are reacting!

I was on the Canadian Nestle site. You should check the American site to make sure.

That's really annoying that the ingredients on the package are different then the website ingredients. I realize the dates of each list could be different, but it's still annoying.

I know this question is off the subject of candy, but does anyone know if Gogurt (made by Yoplait) is safe? Also are Capri-sun drinks ok.? My 12 year old son is on week two of his gluten-free diet (husband is on year two). Unfortunately my son is very picky and my food choices are dwindling by the day.

I've never gone on a message board or forum before. I've searched this site for 1/2 hour trying to find out how to start a new topic with no luck, so I figured I would just continue on one with a somewhat similar topic. I just hope it will show up.

Thanks

This is a great site. There are lots of helpful people here and hopefully you'll find lots of info.

Sorry, but I don't know the gluten-free status of those products. I'm sure someone else will post.

I think both Capri Suns and gogurts are safe in the us. I think they are both made by Kraft. Kraft is a company that will clearly label wheat, barley, rye. Just read the label to see if the Kraft product is safe.

Welcome, Rosy!

At the top right of each thread's first page are two "buttons." One says, "add reply," and the other says, "new topic." Hope that helps!

Welcome to the board!

Hi. I went to the Kraft website and saw exactly what you said. They clearly label contents of their ingredients. Capri Sun is safe. I'm still working on the go-gurt.

Thanks and the board is a wonderful tool!

Thanks. My problem was finding the "new topic" button. I think I've got it now.

Hi Angel here again at the library....and again forgot my reading glasses. I am fiarly sure that ROLO's

in the USA are gluten free. I have ingested them with no problem. I mean, isn't chocolate my booby

prize for being Celiac? I will check when I go to the store today but again I don't have the aforementioned forgotten reading glasses with me. And don't know when I can get back here to post. And now I have to go and buy some, thank you! : )

Thanks alot. I will check the Kraft website.

I work at General Mills where they make GoGurt but am posting as someone who has to check for gluten free items all the time. They have most nutritional/ingredient information listed online.

If I remember, I think Yoplait yogurts are all gluten free and are now labeled. Not trying to promote any brands, just wanting to share a really useful site to find ingredient information.

Hi, I posted before about my son's legs shaking after gluten. I did end up starting him on vit b and happily he actually started sleeping better and longer.  Back to my 4 year old. She had gone back to meltdowns, early wakes, and exhaustion. We tested everything again and her ferritin was lowish again (16) and vit d was low. After a couple weeks on supplements she is cheerful, sleeping better and looks better. The red rimmed eyes and dark circles are much better.   AND her Ttg was a 3!!!!!! So, we are crushing the gluten-free diet which is great. But WHY are her iron and vit d low if she's not getting any gluten????  She's on 30mg of iron per day and also a multivitamin and vit d supplement (per her dr). That helped her feel better quickly. But will she need supplements her whole life?? Or is there some other reason she's not absorbing iron? We eat very healthy with minimal processed food. Beef maybe 1x per week but plenty of other protein including eggs daily.  She also says her tummy hurts every single morning. That was before the iron (do not likely a side effect). Is that common with celiac?

Celiac disease is the most likely cause, but here are articles about the other possible causes:

Hi @Atl222 As @trents points out, there could be many reasons for this biopsy result.  I am interested to know, is your gastroenterologist concerned?  Also, are your blood tests showing steady improvement over the years? I remember when I had my last biopsy, several years after diagnosis, mine came back with with raised lymphocytes but no villous damage, too! In my own case, my consultant wasn't remotely concerned - in fact, he said I might still get this result even if all I ever did was eat nothing but rice and water.   My coeliac blood tests were still steadily improving, albeit slowly, which was reassuring.
    • trents
Welcome to the celiac.com community, @Atl222! Yes, your increased lymphocytes could be in response to oats or it could possibly be cross contamination from gluten that is getting into your diet from some unexpected source but not enough to damage the villi. And I'm certain that increased lymphocytes can be caused by other things besides celiac disease or gluten/oats exposure. See attachment. But you might try eliminating oats to start with and possibly dairy for a few months and then seek another endoscopy/biopsy to see if there was a reduction in lymphocyte counts.
