also, not a huge fan of chickpeas, how are they in the my own meals?

I've tried the Lundberg risotto. It's ok as an occasional side dish, but I couldn't eat it as a meal. For a quick side dish I also use Walmart brand scalloped potatoes. They're ok in a pinch.

Some of the Lundberg risottos can be pretty good - try sauteing some chopped onion or shallots before you put in the rice, then adding cooked spinach or asparagus or mushrooms with some leftover meat. And lots of Parmesan for topping. Makes a good meal for taking to work if you have a microwave.

Mrs. Leeper's pseudo-Hamburger Helpers are also not bad - make a box of the cheeseburger mac or lasagna, throw in some broccoli or spinach. You can also freeze these without much harm to the noodles for a quick dinner when you can't be bothered to cook.

I use Lundberg's Rice Express like a hamburger helper meal.

The Sante Fe Grill flavor with burger (or chicken), about 1/2 can of beans and 1/2 can of corn with cheddar melted on top is a great one skillet meal. I add a Tbsp of butter substitute to help the flavors blend. This also goes great with Amy's enchiladas.

Chicken & Herb is a good base to add chicken and veggies to, again with a Tbsp of butter substitute to help the flavors blend. I also use it for quick rice to make a stir fry when I don't have time for rice to cook.

And these are great just as a side dish, too. They are shelf stable and the package only takes 2 minutes to heat in a microwave. They are brown rice and they are prepared so that the grains are separate and don't stick together. I saw one review on Amazon that called the texture dry, but to me that's the proper consistency for brown rice (i.e. not overcooked). But then, I don't like risottos.

And Dinty Moore stew or Healthy Choice soups are default meals for Hubby and me when we don't want to mess with a meal.

Are you looking for general groceries or shelf stable disaster supplies?

I really like Lundberg's Risottos. Yummie and some are vegan, too!

I agree with the Lunbergs. I add frozen veggies and shrimp while its cooking, and that makes it a meal. I only like the tuna Mr's Leepers, but I never liked hamburger helper, only the tuna one before gluten-free. I use Tuna in the chicken one as well, and it comes out quite well.

Both i suppose :)

Thanks everyone for the input.

I have tried the My Own Meals and they are pretty decent. I think the spices could be a little stronger (so I add salt and pepper to mine) but they are great for traveling, no need to freeze or refrigerate. I like the beef stew the best. The My Own Chicken is not so good (to me anyway). Plus, they are kinda pricey.....just my opinion.

I looked at the website and haven't tried the My Own Meals, but I keep Dinty Moore beef stew on hand, it's gluten-free and less expensive.

I REALLY like the Gluten Free Pantry skillet meals in a pinch. They're pretty good considering they come out of a box. They're on sale right now at gluten free.com for $1.99 a box.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
