Pink Ideas Needed!

Hello everyone!

My sister is obsessed with pink - to the point that whenever I see anything pink (even if it's completely unrelated to anything she would like) I would think of her and want to buy it. All our friends and family would agree with me and do the same. Pink insanity!

Anyway...!

So this week is her bridal shower with her friends (as opposed to our older family members), and it's basically entitled "you like pink? YOU GOT IT!" and it's a PINK OVERLOAD!

I am making EVERYTHING on the menu pink - and if it's already not pink, well, then I am going to make it pink (I won't use dye, but instead use natural beet juice... But I want to avoid that if I can because then I have to make that, too).

I do have ideas, but I am wondering if anyone is feeling super creative and can think of anything! I am looking for just snacks/desserts, but am open to anything.

I cannot use any pre-made ingredients, so nothing with cheese or cream cheese, and so on. I'm also casein free, but a great cook so can make anything taste the same - I just can't use premade ingredients.

Thank you! I look forward to the replies!

One thing I've made for showers is surprise cookies. I don't have a gluten-free recipe for them though. They were little cookie balls that were tinted and inside each was a surprise. Like some chocolate chips, a piece of a candy bar or dried fruit or nuts. You can tint the cookies and the tops are drizzled with icing which can also be tinted.

We have a grandma that died of breast cancer so every year for xmas we donate to a charity and do something pink for everyone in place of getting everyone gifts!

Last year we did pink sugar cookies, with an iceing pink ribbon on top.....so you could do a variation of that...maybe an iceing wedding bell????

Or strawberry salad....layer angel food cake(gluten-free or non gluten-free) strawberries and fat free cool wip....it's kind of pink!LOL

Good Luck with the party and the pink! :D

I dont know if you have ever made a Pavlova, but they are amazing! If you look it up on google, you'll find recipes and then you could easily color it pink. The only thing is that usually you put whipped cream on top, so I don't know exactly how you'd substitute that, but I'm sure there is a way. Also, if you want me to I can post a really good recipe for one. Just let me know. Here's a link to see what it looks like. pic

Pink tinted coconut on anything sweet.

Pink tinted whipped topping on anything. Or pink egg whites.

chinese barbecue pork

Cherry Tart Apprentice

How about meringue cookies or macaroons tinted w/ raspberry juice? Both are gluten-free and LF

Our support group has a gluten free potluck every couple of months and we have terrific cooks. Here is a recipe from one for the most beautiful and delicous "pink" creations.

PINK CLOUD ANGEL FOOD CAKE

1 Gluten-Free Pantry Angel Food Cake Mix

Jestgar Rising Star

pink cole slaw - just added shredded beets.

Guhlia Rising Star

Don't forget that with any sweet item, pureed strawberries would make it pink. :)

angel-jd1 Community Regular

What about a fruit salad with all pink/red fruits

strawberries

raspberries

watermellon

cherries

(any other pink fruits)

do a dressing of honey/fruit juice/cinnamon/nutmeg and serve cold.

What about pink cuppeycakes......have beautiful pink or white cupcakes and pink frosting. You could even do mini's if you wanted.

Someone said shrimp...that is a fun idea. Do some red/pink cocktail sauce.

Serve a pink punch to drink. Strawberry sherbert and 7-up.

Mints that are tinted pink would be fun.

You can buy pink M &M's at bulk candy stores. You could have a few dishes of those sitting around for people to eat. (you can even get them personalized if you order them online) You could also put some of the pink m&m's into small bags/boxes for guests to take home.

Cherry Cheesecake

Strawberry soda served in champagne flutes

Champagne with a strawberry garnish.

This sounds like such a fun shower to throw...you'll have to share all your ideas when you are done :)

Wow--what fun! Everyone has such good ideas.

I'd love to see a picture of all the pink foods on the table. It sounds like it's going to be a lovely party :)

Hey Jessica,

I made smoke salmon sushi, sesame summer rolls (i soaked them in a beet juice / water mixture and they all turned hot pink!), hummus (it was pink, I added some beets), with homemade flatbread and veggies, little ham skewers with kalamata olives and cherry tomatoes, fruit trays and tonnes of watermelon, an egg salad mix that was created pink (again with some beet juice) in endive with fresh herbs, and a spicy marinated shrimp dish.

for the prizes for the games, i made a load of cocoa sugar cookies with pink icing (in the shapes of penis'), and for dessert i made a vanilla strawberry cake with pink 'buttercream' frosting (it was vanilla strawberry, too), with hot pink icing for the accents.

my sister isn't the keenest on desserts because she is a pastry chef, and her favourite dishes were all included, that is why the menu is the way it is!

it was a success and all the guests ate lots and lots and i was pleased. it felt good catering an event other than just for family and close family friends. i'm getting great practice, which is lovely.

thanks for asking! :)

Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️

Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
