So, I plan on taking my son to see his first movie in a theater and I would like to know if the popcorn is gluten free. I called the cinema that owns the theater we are going to and I did not get a call back! <_< (Don't you love that.)

Thanks!

I would not risk it. If you can get them to show you the ingredients of the popcorn, the oil they use for it, and the stuff they sprinkle on then maybe you can tell. But I doubt it. I used to work at a theater years ago and the stuff they use to make the popcorn is so full of chemicals that even if it is gluten free it is far from healthy. We usually just grab a package of raisenettes or something like that that we know for sure is safe. Also do not get a fountain beverage, the formulas they use for those are different than for the stuff the companies bottle and most are going to be risky.

We ask what kind of oil they use (not because of gluten but because of a peanut allergy) and ask for the popcon plain. We eat the plain popcorn and have soda at the movies all the time and have never had a problem.

Its full of chemicals thats for sure. they were not sure of this is gluten-free... I still have not tried the popcorn it just makes me nervous. Which theatre chain did you write to...

It was Century 16, a Cinemark theater. I called Cinemark and the best I could do would leave a message. I could not even talk to a live person. They promise to call you back in an hour, which obviously did not happen. Then I decided to call the theater directly and the message stated to go online for theater times, then hangs up! This process took up half my lunch break. <_<

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
