What a great thread ladies. You have convinced me to join you in the EM obsession, I hope I can afford it, lol.

It is really nice to be focusing on how I look for a change, rather than how I feel and what I am eating. I have not really thought about my makeup in a long time. I just throw on the usual or none, and go.

I got my sample kit yesterday. I don't think I have the right foundation yet, or it may just be my technique, but it is fun to experimenting with all the goodies.

It was a little scary to really look at my face, which I haven't done in a while. (When did I get all those wrinkles, and what the heck is up with those eyebrows) But now that I am over that shock, I am ready to make it look better.

Thank you for making me take a good look at a forgotten aspect of my life.

Welcome WW340, glad you jumped in to post!

How exciting you got your first sample kit!

It might take 2 or 3 tries to get a good foundation match. There are lots of tips at the website itself to help you along, and they are so friendly and helpful in customer service if you want to go straight to the source.

I think once you do find your perfect shade you will be pleased.

And I agree, it's nice to focus on something else other than being sick!!!

I missed so much yesterday. And I'm short on time today again. I just have to say you girls have me rolling in laughter today!

I see Donna has a 'spreadsheet twin'. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!

I have to admit it is getting confusing trying to remember what I liked, didn't like, even what I already tried and didnt' try yet.

Cheri-glad you tried it again. I'm sure it will only get better from here!

Welcome WW340! Your screen name reminds me of WD40, lol! Glad you joined in, what did you get in your sample kit. Have you tried it yet? Like it?

Julie- the 'save for later' EM cart is an awesome idea. I get so confused about what to order, what I've already ordered, etc. etc.

Mango, Theme Park is on my list for sure for my next order. I want EM to come out with a 10 piece sample of anything kit for $18.00. It would be so nice to be able to just order sample sizes of anything we wanted to try!

I'm trying so hard to wait on another order for a while, but I think I'm beginning to c-r-a-c-k! I have resisted loading up my cart for fear that when I do it's only a matter of time or change in the special that will force me to press the ORDER button!!! :o

Oh, and I dyed my hair yesterday. It came out a bit darker than it was and covered up all my summer highlights I naturally had. That surprised me, but the greys are mostly gone. It wasn't hard to do at all and I'm pleased with the results. It's so close to my natural color. I'm not worried about it though since I will be getting highlights in <2 weeks anyway! :D

As for makeup, yesterday I tried:

Photo Album - it's a bit dark, but looked great mixed with a little Anytime! I had Cypress on the lids, no fancy stuff just one color, lol. Oh and Natural Reflections Pink is such a nice finishing dust - I really like it!

Did someone say they were trying or tried Cherry Fizz as a blush??? I think I'll try that today, it looks like the perfect blush shade!

Natural Reflections Fair Finishing Powder

I love Natural Reflections finishing powder, but did you catch my post about Natural vs. Natural Reflections?

Brilliant idea from our very own make-up mixologist! :D

Joni, so glad to hear your hair color adventure came out well :D

Is this a trick question? :D

I don't remember much of anything these days

I do recall a post about the Soft Bronzer vs the Natural Reflections, but nothing else comes to my empty brain....

I guess I'll have to go back......

Yes, Joni is quite the cosmeticlally talented :D

Don't go back!

Okay there are two different things:

Natural Reflections, a finishing powder

and

Natural, a blush

You might want to check out Natural (the blush). That's the one I was talking about that you seemed interested in trying at one point. It's a little sparkly in the jar, but not so much on your face.

All the stuff you thought I was posting about Natural Reflections finishing powder was actually about Natural the blush.

Did that make any sense??, because now I'm starting to confuse myself....

Natural Reflections is good too...not saying you should take it out of your cart or anything

Is the blush a pinky brown?

Color me confused too

No it makes sense.

The important piece of info I need in all of this  is which is like BE Warmth? Soft Bronzer, Natural Blush, or something else you mentioned??

Hey everybody, if you want tips and tricks on how to work with and appy mineral make-up I noticed Bare Minerals has shows on QVC all throughout this weekend. Check your listings, I think the next one comes on this next hour (11 pst, 2 est).

Most of it will be selling the product of course, but they do do demonstrations.

Maybe recording or tivo-ing it would be a good idea so you can fast forward through all the chatting

Joni, so glad to hear your hair color adventure came out well :D

Yes, I'm sure I will be doing more hair dying in the near future. I just hope I don't get interested in mixing dyes...who knows what my hair will look like then, lol!

Cosmetically talented...lol!

Yes, now I understand. Thank you for clarifying that.

Well, ladies it's off to Walmart and then Shoprite to sell more GS Cookies!

Have a great day! I'll check in later...I guess the special isn't goin g to change until Monday. SLACKERS!!!

So this is starting to bug me. I keep getting these little bumps and blackheads on the area of my face where I put my blush. Is there a chance that this is just my skin detoxing because I finally stopped wearing toxic blush? I hope the EM isn't causing it.

Mango04 Enthusiast

Natural blush is not like warmth.

Soft Bronzer is kind of the same concept as warmth, but it's much much much much much much (cannot emphasize it enough lol) lighter.

Afternoon ladies and male hostages!

I just gave myself a B12 shot, so my leg is ready to fall off, but that won't stop me from posting, lol...don't need a leg to type.

Hey, so are we makeupistas? or maybe cosmetistas?

Fun day today...shopping with my mom and aunt. We went to Barnes & Noble where I found a couple of books on makeup application...one of them was recommended at Makeup Alley. I can't wait to sit down with them later.

Ack....no new special yet. What the heck is up with that?! Sheesh, lol.

So in honor of saturday I wore DVR Saturday as a blush, lol. My new product was Pressed Olive eyeshadow on the eyelid (from crease down). LOVED IT! Yay...finally got my sparkle on! :P I put some Mistletoe on at the lash line, then some smokey eyeliner. Sparkle galore. Donna is a happy sparkly girl today. :P

Oh, and bought another travel retractable brush today. It's for blush and is a little smaller than the one I bought last weekend.

I am STILL in love with that long handled kabuki for foundation!

Oh, and speaking of mixing...I am going to start mixing some of the colors I am not thrilled with. I think I'm going to mix New Car Smell with something and see what happens. Last year I ordered some things from an online bead store and got a free gift...the free gift was a tiny little scoop...meant for scooping small beads, but it's PERFECT for scooping small amounts of minerals! I found some small empty containers last weekend so I'll mix them in that for now.

Donna, if you want a more lavender blush color Best Friends might be what you are looking for. I got that in my last sample kit order and it's a rose meets lavender color.

Hum, dang, forgot my spreadsheet at work. I THINK this is in my cart. Wait, maybe not. Oh heck...I'm confused. If it's not in my cart YET I'm sure it will be soon. :P

What a great thread ladies. You have convinced me to join you in the EM obsession, I hope I can afford it, lol.

...

I got my sample kit yesterday. I don't think I have the right foundation yet, or it may just be my technique, but it is fun to experimenting with all the goodies.

Hey, welcome!!!!! Yeah, it takes a while to get the hang of application, which CAN make a difference, but the color also figures in. My first sample kit the color was a little too light, but I'm lucky I have 4 different colors that work well for me.

I have to admit it is getting confusing trying to remember what I liked, didn't like, even what I already tried and didnt' try yet.

SEEEEEE!!!!!! And, this is how it so innocently begins! I see a spreadsheet in YOUR future!

Oh no! I'd think if it were the minerals it would be all over your face though, although I guess it COULD be some pigment that is only in the blush. I choose to believe it's detox.

WW340 Rookie

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

All of the foundations I ordered are too light, so I am trying again.

I like the apple blush, sunlight concealer and smokey eyeliner.

The cozy night lip gloss is pretty nice, too.

BTW - has anyone else copy and pasted an order to word? I did that and it puts a nice color strip with the name of the product under the color strip. That might be a useful feature for you spread sheet folks.

Just click on the item in your cart, to get the description, then copy and paste the description to word. It converts it to a nice color strip with the name.

Yes, I've done that and it works great!!! I've also copied all the color swatches to a Word doc (hey, I sit at a computer all day and ocassionaly have a lot of time on my hands, lol).

I'm really procrastinating right now (so much to do!), so I thought it would be fun to take a pic of all my make-up containers, just so you guys can laugh at how much of this stuff I own already (I know, what a productive thing to do with my time LOL)

The webcam on my computer didn't truly capture the insanity of it all, but here's my attempt LOL:

Yikes! I seriously hope it's not from the makeup. Are you using a different facial cream or mixing the minerals with anything?

The detoxing sounds like a possibility though.

Ack....no new special yet. What the heck is up with that?! Sheesh, lol.

I know, what are they doing at EM? Losing sales that's what! Don't they realize the faster they change the specials the more orders they get from us. It doesn't take rocket science to figure that out!

OMGosh! Are those LARGE samples the full sizes???? Wow, they are HUUUUUUGE! Looks like a great big pile of fun to me, lol.

How many colors do u have left to buy 2, lol.

the email me is like brown with a very little touch of peach and i mean very light. If you have light skin it would be nice lol.

everyone,

I have decided if there is no special up by monday at 10, im going to go look at the competition, like raw minerals or something lol.

paula

hopes someone sees this at Em and changes it fast lol

Cheri A Contributor

Wow, Mango!

I'm starting to like this stuff more and more. I'm getting the hang of it, I think. I've decided to order the eye shadows kit and lip stuff whenever the next special hits, and another free kit so I can try some darker foundations. I really like how my face feels like it has nothing on it all day!

So, what is everyone's favorite concealer? I got Mint in my first kit.

Glad your liking it!

I love the Sunlight for dark cirles and the occasional zit. Pick Me Up Pink is also nice used like a finishing dust all over, but I now have Natural Reflections Pink for that. They are the only 2 I've tried, but I'm sure others' can tell you about their experiences with "Mint". LOL!

Well, I now have a cart full of 2 kits. It's only a matter of time...

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay all, Cherry Fizz works very well as a blush and an eyeshadow, lol.

 OMGosh...I know exactly WHICH storage container you are talking about now. I have a smaller version, lol. I bought it to store some bead stuff in, but, well, my beading thing turned out much like the EM thing...the stupid thing was MUCH too small for everything I bought. :P

I've almost decided I don't need the full sized versions of anything except my absolute favorites. So definitely Sunlight concealor (I use that by the tons anyway); my foundation, and maybe my favorite blush, lol.

I know, what are they doing at EM? Losing sales that's what! Don't they realize the faster they change the specials the more orders they get from us. It doesn't take rocket science to figure that out!

Yes, I looked at them briefly last night. I didn't really read much, but the one thing I saw while skimming and remember is that it said yellow concealor is good for just about anything, lol. No wonder I LOVE the sunlight so much.

hopes someone sees this at Em and changes it fast lol

Nice attempt! Looks like it didn't quite work.

So, what is everyone's favorite concealer? I got Mint in my first kit.

Yeah, mint was my first too. I don't love it, but finally found a way to use it without looking quite so kermitish. My favorite (I've only tried these two, lol) is Sunlight. It REALLY takes care of my dark circles, and also works well on dark spots and even redness.

cruelshoes Enthusiast
everyone,

Stay strong, Paula. ;) there will be a new special sometime this week, I just know it.

So, what is everyone's favorite concealer? I got Mint in my first kit.

I like mint for spot-covering red areas and I also use sunlight under my eyes to camouflage the dark circles. I only use a tiny bit each day, so the samples I got are going to last me forever. I am getting pick me up pink on my next order. It almost feels like my face is a painting and I am the artist. I just need a black beret and a painters palate to hold my minerals.

Holy supermodels, Batman! Mango's got a new sexy avatar! I am almost afraid to post my picture with all the good lookin ladies we have on this thread now......

Tried favorite hoodie as a shadow today with good china as a base and smoky eyeliner. I don't know if it's my favorite look, but I do like it.

I finally caved and added silk dust to my cart. It really sounds great, although I won't have the foggiest idea how to use it when it gets here. Patiently waiting for the next special. The longer it takes the more times I have to change my eyeshadow sampler.

That's what I'm wearing today too, but I threw some Hot Chocolate and Cherry Fizz in there as well, along with Starry Eyed for a liner (hey, why wear only two shades of eye shadow when you own three hundred! )

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.

I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
