Wow, Donna! B)

Mango, well, your new room mate just needs to try the make up once!

WW, I hope you figure it out soon. Bummer!!

I'm not going to make the minimum to get the free stuff. I'm just going to get another brush and the free kit this time. Now, to go change the colors around again, lol.

Hi Everyone!

Under the news section of the EM site--she mentions they are changing up the lip glosses, and still working on the website (due to adding 12 new features!) :D She also mentions still working on the eye kabuki brush!!

Can't wait!!

That is good news Amy, thanks for lettting us know. I think the new website will be great with all the hard work they seem to be putting into it!

Yikes! Today I got a giant hive on my eyelid shortly after applying my makeup. Now to figure out what caused that. I immediately washed everything off and it is settling down, but my eyelid blew up like a baloon. It started right at the lashline. Both eyes itched, but only one got the hive.

Wow! I hope it isn't the makeup. Were you using a new brush to put it on? One of the brushes I ordered came in with a really strong glue smell on it and I had to wash it off really well before using it. I wonder if it was something the brush you were using. Hope your doing better now.

Mango, LOL! Your room mate has a lot to learn. Maybe you can convert her into an EM user. That would have to move you up to Superior Cult Leader The Great!

Am I the only one that likes the new special??? I think the peach lip color and face color (like silk dust, right?) will be very nice. The 5% stinks, but I'm ordering this time. Just need to figure out if I want to wait until the Baby Kabuki comes in on the 20th or order now and get the Angled Blush Brush!

Have you cleaned your brushes lately? Or have you used anything with a purple base in a shadow the past few days? Purple shaded eye colors sometimes can irritate sensite eye lids.

Lets hope its the new moisturizer though!!

Not crazy about the new special--i think I may hold off with my order for the next special.

Good luck

AMY

Thank you all for your concern and suggestions.

I went ahead and washed my brushes, even though they are from EM and I have only had them a few weeks. I went back to my previous moisturizer. Fortunately, I am not working this week, so I was able to put things on one at a time and wait 15 minutes between each application. I did not use the same eye make up colors today. I did use EM, just different colors. I had no hives or itching, so I will try the eye colors I used yesterday, but one at a time. I really do hope it is the moisturizer.

One of the brushes I used on my eyes yesterday was new, and not EM. I will hold off on using it for now. It was a really nice size for applying all over eye coverage with concealer and base. I am hoping the new eye kabuki will be like this brush.

Ha, well I sort of want the new special, but I can't think of enough to buy right now in order to get it, lol. Who knew I would run out of things to buy?! I know, shockes, amazes and astonishes even me.

This is shocking. Are you sure you don't need some duplicates?

I think I will place an order, but not big enough for the special right now. Not that the current special would keep me from it, but I can't order full sizes until I get everything figured out.

I think I will order the mini kit in all the foundations I am mixing together so that I have more to work with. They are going to go broke sending me samples if I can't get this figured out pretty soon lol.

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay girls...don't be afraid to mix those wild colors.

I went ahead and tapped out just a few grains of the Mojave Camping blush with quite a bit more Car Pool. It was kind of a smokey lilac...very nice. I put that on the crease and corner of my eyes. Looks VERY nice if I do say so myself. I got to thinking that it might also make a nice blush, but had already put on blush for today. I didn't measure exactly on this mix, but there literally was only one small spot of the mojave (as if it had come out of only one of the little holes), lol.

I finished that up with some mystic night eyeliner...looks very good.

I'm going through all my eye colors again...now that I have the new brushes, it seems to put the color on differently, so I'm revisiting everything to make sure I still like what I liked and still don't like what I don't like. So far, I still love Ginger Peach, Ping Pong, Gingerbread Man and Autumn Afternoon, but just so so on Spin Cycle and Good China...those two were my favorites before.

Donna! What has happened to you????? Have you finally purchased everything???

I guess I HAVE purchased everything, lol. I don't want to wait for the next special...I want to be a good cult member and buy now and buy later, lol. Currently I have a free sample kit in my cart plus two of the empty jars. I tried putting in a personal mini kit yesterday, but could only find three things I might want to try. Sad, but true  Must go look when I'm done here to see if the new website is up yet.

I actually want the special too. I want to try the lip gloss but don't want to buy it. I haven't loved their lip glosses yet, and this one looks promissing. If I could just think of something else to buy, lol.

confused Community Regular

I ran out of makeup ideas to buy to that is why i got brushes and the lavender wear then i had to add the big size of sunlight to make it over 35 bucks to get the special lol. Next special will be hard cause i will have all the eyeshadows that i want so i hope they add some new eyeshadows soon lol.

I should have my order by tuesday so i will report on the new stuff as soon as i get it, i cant wait to wear the lip stick lol.

If anyone wants an vibrant lip color, use the jojodots, then put on mojave camping then em lip gloss over it, crap i forgot what color i used today lol. But it was very dark but pretty.

paula

dlp252 Apprentice

What are jojodots, lol? Is that the scrub?

Hey all, I also bought some Evian mist. I tested after I got home (after all day with makeup on) and I think I'll like it...very fine mist. My plan is to use it after my foundation and before all the other stuff.

Where did you buy it? I've been wanting to buy some water mist, but don't know where to look.

This combination sounds great! Car pool is the blue I don't have. Argh! I may try it with baby sitter, the blue I DO have.

I am impatient too! I keep thinking it can't be too much longer. I found the latest special pretty underwhelming, so I won't be ordering anything more until the new site comes out. They have hinted around adding more things with the launch of the new website, so that's another reason for me to wait. I'll just have to use what I have (not a bad thing at all) and live vicariously through the rest of you culties with more cash than me. ;)

Very cool! I'm going to have to look for that. I have been getting my hands wet and then drying them off 99%. Then I pat my face all over. That seems to even things out quite a lot. But a mister that doesn't throw big blobs of water on my face would work even better. The spray bottle I have now puts out too much water.

dlp252 Apprentice

Well, I liked the misting effect. The directions on the can say to spray, then wait a moment, then pat....which are pretty much the instructions for the True Minerals I tried between BE and EM. I liked the misting effect, but their mist tasted awful (and their minerals broke me out)...and it always ended up in my mouth somehow. Anyway, you sprayed that then patted with a cosmetic sponge. So I pulled out the sponges that came with the True Minerals and patted the Evian with it. Very nice indeed. Felt good too. I imagine this will REALLY feel good in the summer! :P Face still looked good 4 hours later.

Nothing too new today...I decided I like Golden Light better than Olive Light for me...matches my neck better and doesn't seem to change colors. The Olive seems to get just a hair darker as the day goes no...not in a bad way, but just darker...I don't need darker, lol.

Revisited Rare Silk. Didn't love it as much as when I first tried it, but still not a bad color.

New color today was Baby Sitter. I was afraid, very afraid, but boldly stuck my brush in the tiniest of piles of the color. It went into the crease and on the corner of my eye. I was not convinced. However, after putting on mascara and some mystic night as a liner, it looked pretty good. Not a color I'll wear often, but still nice. When I got home 4 hours later, it actually had all settled in together and looked very nice...it didn't scream BLUE, lol.

confused Community Regular

Today i mixed multi tasking with a medium tan, and it is the perfect color for me today, at least so far it is lol. I had one problem tho i put too much olive oil on my face so i am kinda oily but not too bad, the silk tinted dust helped absorb alot of it, tg lol I would have redone my whole face if i would of had time but kids had to be taken to school, and i have to go help with my daughters first birthday party at school today, im so sad about it, were did my babies go lol. Parents are going to love me, cupcakes and ice cream at 10 am lol and i also made goodie bags with candy and toys. They only go to school til 11:30 in case anyone wondered why cupcakes at 10 am lol.

I cant wait for my order to get here, it left denver on saturday, so if im lucky i might get it today but since it snowed up there, im thinking i wont get it til tommorow.

paula

I got my makeup, im so excited.

I just put on the pink lemonade lip gloss and it is very pretty, it is almost the color of the smokey pink eye shadow. It isnt very dark but very shimmery and pretty, i love it.

I cant wait to experiment with the new eye shadows tommorow, like the hot chocolate, in the garden and a few other..

The buds look like q-tips but much better, i cant wait to use it for liner tommorow, ive been making it to thick lately and i think these will be so much better.

I cant wait to use my new brush either, its really soft compared to my last one.

I think i might just take off all my makeup and try everything this afternoon.

Spoken in true cult-like fashion!

confused Community Regular

Ok i need ideas.

Tommorow we go to court and i want a very nice looking face tommorow, i dont want to be hoochie looking but want to look great. What combo should i go for in my makeup.

I know mojave is probably out for blush.

I now have every eye color but the blues so any ideas i can do lol

And i think i will do wffle cone or email me for blush since they are subtle. Im also thinking of wearing the pink lemonade lip stick and maybe adding an touch of the smokey pink eye shadow to make it a little darker but not over powering.

Im also thinkiing if i need to buy new clothes for the occassion to look very well put together.

paula

dlp252 Apprentice

Hum, I think Mojave and New Car Smell were the only two that really screamed color to me, lol. I think you'd do well with any of the others, almost all of them are pretty subtle on me. You could always use Waffle Cone as an eyecolor too.

confused Community Regular

That is true none of the colors are that bold as long as i stay away from the mojave lol.

Guess what i found today.

My pink pajamas, i was so happy.

I think the peach all over color from the special is going to make an pretty blush and eye shadow, it is very pretty.

Im kinda depressed now tho, my train case is completly full, i dont have room for anything so my hubby said i cant order more, or i need to order an new train kit, but i dont want to part with this train kit. I guess i just need to find my foundation match then i can empty some of my case lol.

paula

confusedks Enthusiast

Paula,

I can so relate to the foundation thing. I still haven't figured out which foundation I like. Also, with my lovely health, some days I'm really pale and some days I have nice color, so I need like 5 different colors. What a bummer!

I actually have a huge train case from Sephora, but it's in New Zealand, so I'm trying to get my dad/stepmom to bring it back with them when they come back here to visit. I'm excited! :D

confused Community Regular

Kassandra,

I dont think we will ever figure out our color lol. And hwen we do we will have to change for the season lol. At least u are lucky u dont have as many seasons as we do in colorado lol.

Im off to go play with my new makeup and hope i dont look like an hooch today at court lol. Omg i dont want to go, i dont want to go. Its my daughtes birthday cant we be excused from going lol

paula

dlp252 Apprentice

Paula, hope all goes well at court. You must report back as to exactly what makeup you wore!! Oh yeah, and on the results of the court appearance!

Well, looks like three blushes disappeared! Noticing that the line ending was different on the last row of colors, I had to pull out my trusty spreadsheet to compare colors. I couldn't find Anytime, Chit Chat or Splendid! I hadn't ordered Chit Chat or Splendid yet...can't say I'll miss Anytime...it's a good eye color though, but what I have will last forever, lol.

Today I'm revisiting Hot Chocolate and Well Being. Not in love with either color today, lol. When I find the handful of colors I truly love I'm ordering a large container. :P

confused Community Regular

Well i used medium summer foundation and omg i love this color. It gives my face an nice glow and summer look lol. Of course it dotn match my neck perfect but who cares my face looks good lol. Omg hten i put on raw sugar blush and omg it was terrible, so put the new peach over it to tone it down, then put on plum dust and it looks great lol.

On eyes, i uses morocoo on the crease, i love the color, hot chocolate on top and omg i forogt what on bottom, will post that later when i dont feel like i have to puke lol. Then i put on my pink lemonade lip gloss and mixed in some smokey pink eye shadow and it looks nice.

Ok off to fix my hair and be in court in 30 minutes ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.
    • Wheatwacked
Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
