Yeah on the brushes! I was just thinking a need a couple more :).

Ways to use the colors that don't quite work for you.

I've yet to find a blush that I can't use as eyeshadow.

Also, the blush colors that are too light - I put on lightly in a wider area than I'd normally do, add a bit on the chin and nose for the very subtle bronzing look, and put a darker blush on as normal (maybe a little lighter). I think it gives some complexity to the color. Same with blush as eyeshadow - smear a bunch on, then decorate as normal.

Foundations

I just mix everything randomly

Eyeshadows

well, I love putting all kinds of crap on my eyes, so this hasn't come up yet :P

What do other people do? I've thought of foundation as a subtle eye shade, but haven't done it yet.

dlp252 Apprentice

Well, okay, I AM going to talk to myself.    !!!

I just placed another order. I got the full sized personal kit and ordered THREE of my favorite foundations because I just can NOT decide which one is best. I also ordered TWO flat top brushes and tinted silk dust.

I decided to NOT wait for another special because, well, the new website will probably be up by then and I'm sure there will be lots of other stuff I want THEN. :P

Also got another free kit, because I just haven't tried enough foundation colors yet. ;) Also wanted to try Text Message blush that everyone seems to like.

I haven't been too inventive yet. I have tried a couple of blush shades as eyeshadows, and I think one or two eyeshadows as blush.

I've mixed a couple of my least favorite blushes together with good results.

I've tried some of the darker eye colors as liner.

I like your idea of foundation as eye color. I have a couple that were a little too dark for my face, but I bet they'd look good as an eyecolor.

I have used the Summer Silk Dust as a bronzer. :P That one was way too dark to put over my whole face.

Hum, I wonder what the blue eyeshadows mixed with morocco would look like...or maybe mojave. Maybe I can get a purple eyeshadow. :P

Holy cow folks...are we over our love fest?! Not a single post yesterday!

I was so panicky when I saw there were no posts yesterday. Please don't let the mineral madness be over. It's still too much fun. I have an excuse for not posting yesterday. The baby has pneumonia and we were at the doctor's office all day.

Today i finally used my mixing bowls lol.

I adore my mixing bowls! The baby keeps packing them off because she likes to stack them and unstack them. I really need a set for the kitchen, too. They are really measuring bowls, after all.

I've yet to find a blush that I can't use as eyeshadow.

Foundations

I just mix everything randomly

I also love to use the blushes as eye colors. The 2 blush colors I have gotten that absolutely did not work for me (Veranda and Text Message) make smashing eyeshadows. And I always need more shadows since I only have.....40!!!!

I have a few foundation samples that are too light and one that is too dark. I find that mixing a bit of each yields a good result. The one that I have that's too dark also makes a great base for eyeshadow.

Today:

Multitasking neutral original glo foundation - I am back to this one as being my color, but I go back and forth between it and fair medium

Cookie sheet blush - absolutely beautiful, and I know it would make a great eyecolor too.

Spin cycle all over - a lovely, subtle pink with a great sparkle

Autumn afternoon on the lid - kinda hard to describe this one. Sparkle, kinda taupe with a lttle copper and pink in it?

In the garden liner

Tinted silk dust - loving this stuff for giving a great finished look. I didn't even know I didn't look finished until I started using it,

I tried a different technique with the lip scrub that seems to be working. I dip a damp fingertip into it to pick up some of it. Then I put it on my lips and hold it there with my fingertip to warm it up a little. Then I work outward on the lips in a circular motion. I think warming it up helps not get so much in the mouth.

What it the trick to getting the lip gloss to stay on? Mine never seems to last very long.....

or a black eye effect...

I deliberately got a dark foundation that I put on under the regular foundation to try to create cheekbones

Would probably work on top of regular foundation if the shades weren't too different.

Egads!!!! That doesn't sound fun at all! Hope baby feels better soon!

The morning after my last gluten meal I spent about an hour violently throwing up. My face swelled up and I look like a cabbage patch doll. When the swelling went down all the tiny capillaries above my cheeks had broken so I had tiny red and blue squiggles under my eyes.

I'm pretty sure you could reproduce that by mixing gbb and mojave

Did anyone notice that they added Ivory to the foundation colors. It's in the buff (I think) category.

Our cult thread was on page 2 yesterday :o

I had something to post, but I thought eh, I'll post tomorrow  I would post a lot more but I have just been too sick to wear make-up :( , so I have been living vicariously through you ladies.

Need to go check out the Ivory color stat!

I am glad my makeup looks great cause so far i have been in 5 stores and have lots more places to go today and have to host an birthday party for my sons birthday at school today, it is one combines with his best friendd cause they have the same birthday but they work, so course im doing it. I have to get enough candy for 60 plus kids for an pinata, cause i decided to do it for the whole school lol what was i thinking today.

Your adventures with your EM are always fun to read Paula

I just placed another order.

Lots of great tips Colleen!

That's one of the many great things about this make-up, you can mix and match and custom blend to your heart's content :D I think the mixing bowls are a must have, or something similar, and no color is a bad color.

Ok, so what I was going to post yesterday was I know of another use for the fan brush  .

I was watching some entertainment show of all things and they were doing a make over. The make up artist used the fan brush to apply a bronzer to the cheek bone area in light downward strokes, then she applied the blush over that (mixing a light color with a dark color) . I guess this technique really highlights the cheek bones.

So there you go.

Woohoo!!! My new train case just came. It's really cute too. Now, too bad I won't have time to play with it tonight! I have a hair appointment right after work, then I'll have about an hour at home, then off to choir rehearsal. BUT, I have tomorrow off work so that'll make up for it. :P

I trust we will be seeing pictures soon, of said train case and new haircut/hairdo?!?!? :D

Just bumping this thread back to the top! ;)

I'm reading along, but just don't have as much to add as the rest of you.

I have been getting compliments on my new make up though! It's amazing how much better my skin feels with this, and I am not gluten-free.

I haven't tried all of the eye shadows that I got last. My favorites are Morocco and Wildflowers, though. I like Movie Night and Good China too. I do not wear eye liner or mascara yet. For foundation, I find that I am reaching for Medium Beige Neutral the most. I'm almost out!! Time to get another sample kit. I have and really like both blushes that I have, Jump Rope and Apple. What should my next choice be? I'll also be getting another brush. I've been using the same brush for foundation and blush!! The horror!!

I think we should post this in the "get this look" section of the EM site. Or maybe not.

Very interesting. Perhaps I will try this technique. I seem to be rather heavy handed with bronzer and can't get the application down right. I either end up splotchy or darker than a drag queen after visiting the tanning salon.

I am so glad you are getting compliments. That is the nicest part of this whole silly makeup thread. I love wildflowers too, but haven't tried Morocco yet. Are you wearing them together? That might be a nice combo. I just got cookie sheet and photo album blushes. Both are quite nice. I don't know what my next one will be, but I am leaning toward pink ribbon.

I have to give a presentation today to the "suits" here at work. Hopefully they will notice my purty makeup and not my knees knocking together. I have on:

Multitasking neutral original glo

Multitasking concealer

Photo album blush

Good China base

In the garden on the lid - Mango is right about this one. It's a bronzey brown shimmer. Really pretty

Samba lessons liner

Tinted silk dust

Some old lipstick I found lying around - I think it's Mary Kay

Jestgar Rising Star

I'm getting jealous hearing about all the eyeshadows I don't have. Might have to order another 10.

Did fun eyes today:

silk dust on the brow

emerald liner

a tiny stripe of oasis just above the emerald (shiny! :P )

morroco on the crease

all kinda smudged together afterwards

and of course dusted the lashes with oasis for the extra sparkly look

Mango04 Enthusiast

I just experienced something extremely horrifying. I thought I just lost half my EM collection. :o omg thank god I finally found it safe and sound.

:blink::o:wacko::lol:

That was close one.

I'm not caught up with the latest make-up chit chat (I LOVE that blush, btw :P )....um my computer's dying...will have to catch up with the cult later. :P

Yay on the compliments! Glad you skin is feeling better since using EM, not only is it Gluten-Free (gotta get that most important tidbit of info in there  ) but it is also free of most other allergens and skin irritants, so your skin really is appreciating that.

I love Morocco and Wild Flowers is in my cart, can't wait to get that because everyone has said such wonderful things about it.

What blush should you get next? That is the million dollar question  If only the answer were easy, so many great colors to choose from. Depends on what you are looking for, pinks, roses, plums, shimmer, matte, etc, etc.......

Good luck with your presentation!

I think that is the idea of the fan brush, it doesn't allow for a heavy hand (at least I don't think it does  ), just a soft, light, swipe of color.

If I had said fan brush I could test this technique out for us, kind of like a guinea pig :P

March 15th isn't too much longer away.....sigh........doesn't that day have historical significance, like the Ides of March or something?? I don't remember it having a good connotation though, somehow "beware of the Ides of March" is coming to mind

Cheri, yay on the compliments!! As far as blush... I pretty much really like all the ones I've purchased, the only two I haven't been crazy about were the two free samples. Anytime is too light for me, but I think I can use it on my eyes. I think my top favorites are still Pink Ribbon and Nick Nack, but the others aren't far behind.

Okay, okay, I'll try it with that darned mojave camping stuff and see.

And what about Donna, i thought she had the day off and was going to play with her EM and train case :lol:

Yes, had the day off, but the reason I had the day off was for a doctor, physical therapy and chiropractice appointment. They're all in the same place but I was there for a couple of hours. So, my makeup was FANTASTIC today...was in love with my face for a change, but unfortunately my body wasn't liking physical therapy today, it was so painful that I started crying a bit...darned if I wasn't face down with my face smushed into one of those headrest things. When I picked my head up, my mascara was all over it, lol, and unbeknownst to me at the time...all over my eyes.

We won't talk about THAT look. Can you say RACOON! :P

So, naturally I had to treat myself after that torture session, and stopped at Sephora for more brushes (actually I had planned to do that whether or not I had been tortured, lol). And, naturally had to buy a couple of lip glosses.

And, played with my EM and train case last night. Pictures were taken. :P I'm just waiting for my stupid computer to quit virus scanning because uploading pictures is slooooooowwwww enough on my dial up connection without the virus scanning going on.

Okay girls...ping pong eye color looks really nice as a blush too, lol. Very subtle. I decided to wear that as an eyeshadow and it looked so pretty in the jar, that I swiped my cheek with the eyeshadow brush...then a little more, then a little more. Did both cheeks with one of my new brushes. I later followed it up with just a touch more with a real blush brush.

Mom said that I looked even better this week. Both mom and auntie agreed that it makes me look brighter and peppier. They are used to seeing me exhausted and pale. :P

I  my new brushes!

Pretty much. It's not all in there...I weeded out the stuff I won't wear much, so what's in there is the stuff I'll wear most often. There is enough room in there for double layers of the sample sized containers, so if I wanted to I could get it all in there.

Yeah, not sure what was up with that, but the PT guy was so amazed because he can usually go so deep with his elbow. I can stand pretty heavy pressure, but this was just so weird. After I discovered my mascara on the headrest, I didn't want to put my face back down, lol. I was afraid I was going to get mascara on my blushy checks.

I have been using bare minerals for a couple of years now but after reading some of this post I want to check out the other make up. The bare minerals makes my face tingle sometimes and it almost always feels dry afterwards.

So I can order samples of this make up?

Welcome to the madness, Barb! To see the sample kit, visit this page: Open Original Shared Link. Click the free kit to add it to your cart. Then you get to choose what goes in it. You can get 3 foundations, 1 blush and 1 concealer. All you have to pay is the shipping (it was about $4 for me). The EM page says the samples are good for 3 - 6 applications, but I get several weeks out of mine.

Many of the symptoms, there are over 200, associated with celiac disease and NCGS are vitamin and mineral deficiencies caused by small intestine damage in the case of celiac disease and food avoidance and the poor nutrittion of the Modern American Diet (MAD) I used to turn the heat on even at 78 degrees.  The 600 mcg of Liquid Iodine helped.  Also good for hair, nails, skin and brain fog.  Another good thing for brain fog is phosphatyl choline.  It is essentil for acetylcholine- a brain chemical. I have familial hyperlipdemia and instead of a statin I got a prescription for Nicotinic Acid, 2000 mg a day.  I was already taking 500 mg a day and was really surprised when my HDL when up to  44 and I began sleeping better and my legs and back are getting more flexible.  In addition after the first few doses of itchiness I get a warm fuzzy feeling Raising your vitamin D is crucial.  Low vitamin D allows the immune system to run amuck. intermittent bouts of fatigue, chills/cold intolerance, and shortness of breath/air hunger (sometimes feels like a hollowness in my chest, hard to describe).  Look at Thiamin deficiency. consistently ran hot, was always cranking the a/c, to someone who wears a down vest.  Any combination of deficiencies in B1, B2, B3, B5, choline and Iodine can cause this.  Likely all of them. After a lifetime of mouthbreathing GFD cleared my sinuses.  Post nasal drip is my first symptom of cross contamination nowaday.

If you mean continueing on Gluten Free my answer is yes.  She showed significant improvement in her behavior and that translates to a happy family.  Do get her tested as sooon as you can.  You might want to investigate genetic testing for Celiac Disease.  Children recover more quickly than adults.  It took my son about 6 months on Nutramigen before going to regular food, gluten free.  Blood tests are not always accurate in very young children. You may be advised to see a gastroenterologist instead of relying on blood tests results. Logic: She is better off gluten than before.  Wheat flour has no nutritional value and has an omega 6: omega 3 ratio of 22:1.  Our bodies do better at 3:1.  Omega 6 causes inflammation. When my son was diagnosed, back in 1976, his doctor recommended my wife and I also go gluten free.  We declined and lived to regret it.  I started GFD at 63 and have spent the last 10 years undoing the damage, some of my symptons went all the way back to my childhood and things I lived with all my life got better.
    • Wheatwacked
Hi @Nicbent35,             When my son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease when he was weaned, so I understand your frustration.       With improvement so dramatic, it cannot be a coincedence. Get her to the doctor and tell the story and insist on testing.  In the meantime, though, continue on GFD.  Her health is more important than convincing a doctor.  Bring videos of her behaviors if you can.  Even if the blood tests and biopsy prove negative, that is part of the diagnosis process for NCGS and later when she is recovered you can always do a Gluten Challenge.      This is an important time in her developement.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption syndrome, leading to malnutrition, regardles of what she eats.  Though NCGS may not cause malabsorption, it will affect food choices which can lead to malnutrition.  There may be benifits that an official diagnosis may have, but they don't trump a healthy child.      Get her healthy, then worry about validation later.  Celiac Disease is difficult to diagnosed, especially in children, because doctors look for antibodies in the blood and young children have immature immune systems.  Also you don't mention any gastrologic symtoms and celiac disease is traditionally considered gastrolic only.  Not true.  There are over 200 symptom that celiac disease and the accompaning malnutrion mimics or causes that often causes misdiagnosis and delay in recovery. While at the doctors, ask them about vitamin D deficiency and Iodine deficiency in particular. Milk being the primary source of iodine in the diet, but concerns exist regarding the lower iodine content in organic milk and reduced milk consumption in certain demographics.  Vitamin D deficiency is 40% of the industrialized population and a recent study in the Great Britain showed a wopping 60%, beaten only by some areas of Canada at 70%. And B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6.  Deficiencies in these are common in untreated Celiac Disease and they affect energy production. Are You Confused About Your Celiac Disease Lab Results?

@plumbago, Are you taking any folate with your B12?   Folate helps regulate HDL levels.  You may try taking a methylfolate supplement with your B12.   If there's a folate deficiency because you aren't absorbing sufficient folate, or have the MThF mutation causing a functional folate deficiency (methylfolate trap), you can have a functional B12 deficiency despite supplementing, resulting in HDL levels not getting regulated, but running high or low.   Pushing the envelope in explanations, too. P. S. Are you taking a B Complex?  Folate and B12 Cobalamine need enzymes made from B6 Pyridoxine's interaction with Thiamine, and B2 Riboflavin's interaction with Thiamine.  Is your Vitamin D low?

Thank you for all that helpful info, does that mean it’s not a good idea to do what I’m doing? Or since it’s only been a week should I see if I could get her tested now? Would it show up still since it hasn’t been long if they tested her?
