They did come out with a new eye shadow brush recently, if that's the one you guys are talking about. They replaced the angled brow brush with a more typical shaped eye brush.

Trust me, you are not missing out. The black brush is the cheapy plastic one that is very low quality.

I meant to mention earlier Paula that I think there are a couple of older threads about the gluten content of Bare Minerals products, if you do a search you might find info about the lipsticks and other items you were wondering about.

Oh so the black ones are worse then the cream/white ones lol.

Ok thank you for that info. If a new special is not up by tommorow, I am going to have to stray lol

I so hear ya on that one. Maybe you could try what I did. Find a professional to help you get the right color in another brand, and then come back to EM. I think I am very close to the right mix in EM now that I know what I need in a color. And in the meantime I have something I can wear that looks good on me.

This is a thought Paula, you could at least have a professional tell you what tones/undertones are in your skin and direct you to a more suitable foundation color category.

Thanks for the ideas gals, but there is nothing like that here. All we have is walmart and walgreens that even have make up.

I really need to get up to the city soon.

I have a question about bronzers! Summer's coming and I will be getting a little tanner than I am now. I see that EM sells bronzers - has anyone tried them? I have light to fair skin so I don't need anything really dark, just something to give me a little color.

Thanks!

Laura

Hey Laura, welcome back.

I have several bronzer blush/face colors in my cart, yet to be ordered, so unfortunately I can't give you any opinions about them or a recommendation.

Hopefully some of the other ladies have tried them out.

There is nothing where I live either. I did it while I was in Tulsa. If you go to a larger city from time to time, you might make an appointment ahead of time. That's what I did.

I searched on the internet and found 2 places that did mineral makeup in Tulsa. One was the Laura Mercier counter at a department store, and the other did bare minerals. I just chose the one that was close to where I was going to be. It was a lot of fun, plus I learned a lot.

On the Phone or Scented Candles??

Both say they have a silver shimmer, On the Phone has an orange shimmer additionally.

Does the silver shimmer look grayish? Is the orange shimmer "orange-y"?

Maybe I should just go with Chamomile...

I have one slot to fill in my mini eye kit.

Well, I'm still sick and it's been stupid busy at work...everytime I try to post here or at OMG someone brings me work!:lol:

So, I tried Ping Pong and Ginger Peach (two of my most favorite eyecolors) as blushes...both looked very nice as blush!

Today I tried Tea Time blush...pretty nice, but not enough to knock off my top 5, lol.

I actually LIKE the lip gloss they sent out as the special this last time. I haven't liked any of the others so far. This one doesn't really have much color, but it also isn't a weird "too light" color either...actually looks decent under one of my other sheer glosses.

I didn't really put on any eye makeup today...no sense what with watering eyes and all.

Someone told me I looked pale today, so I guess until I get over whatevertheheckthisis I should go to a darker shade of foundation, lol.

I tried a 50/50 mix of car pool and mojave, but it was still too red, but may be able to use that as a blush...don't know.

Has anyone tried smokey pink as a blush? I really don't like it as an eyecolor, but tried a little on my arm and think it might work as a blush.

Thanks. I really have liked my EM better since applying these tips. I hope it works for you.

...

I will have to find some online and try that. Someone suggested I get a coke spoon to measure. I said oh, yeah, and everyone will believe me when I say I only use it for measuring my makeup, lol.

...

OK, now I know you were actually on your deathbed and no one told us.

...

The main reason I ordered the kit was to get the brush so I could leave it at my condo in Tulsa. What they sent instead was a really crummy dimestore looking angled brush. It looks like what you would get in a cheap set at walmart. In fact, my little $10 set from walmart has a much nicer brush than this one. I hope this is not a sign of things to come with EM.

Yes, the tips do seem to work well.

 on the coke spoon!

Yes, there was actually a point last week where I thought it might be the end--actually worried about who would tell you all. :P

That stupid angled black brush is, well, stupid. I got that in two of my mini eyeshadow kits, but got one of the nice ones in another. One of the black angled brushes broke while I was using it, but the other one is holding up okay. I like the two ended one better...it's got an angled brush on one end and a comb (or is it the brush, lol) on the other end.

To make matters even worse, I just realized I did not get the special with my order, nor did I get the discount. I just now realized that. I don't know how that happened, because I know I put the code in and made sure I had enough to qualify. In fact, the code is still showing up in may cart.

Dang, now I am feeling even worse about that whole order.

Did you navigate away from the order page at any time (like to check a color or something), because you have to apply the discount code each time you navigate away.

On the Phone or Scented Candles??

Hum, for once I think I have no opinion, lol. I think I thought both were okay.

Spreadsheet!! Be sure to include location.

OMGosh...them's fighting words!

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay, I'll talk to myself then!

Has anyone mentioned lately that the EM products are gluten free?! There, public service announcement complete. :P

Hum, today's new products:

Lavendar concealor. Okay I guess...doesn't knock off my favorite Sunlight from the top of the list though, or the second place Intensive either, lol.

Peach blush. WAY too light for me as a blush, so since I had that powdered look on my cheeks I figured it would be a good time to put on my 50/50 Mojave/Car Pool mix, lol. That actually looked pretty good over the way too light Peach blush. :P I also put the 50/50 mix on my eyes in the crease and lash line (over my fav Ping Pong).

Sunkissed Fair (Beige category) foundation. I think I tried this before but in the intensive formula, so I ordered samples of the matte and semi-matte. Today I tried matte...looks VERY nice, lol.

dlp252 Apprentice

Continuing the conversation with myself....

THE NEW SPECIALS ARE UP!!!!!

dlp252 Apprentice

And just so you know, I talk to myself all the time.

So, I liked the special and found enough stuff to order to get it, lol. It was a perfect chance to get some of the non makeup stuff I've wanted to try. Here's what I ordered:

Makeup Brushes & Accessories: Long Handled Kabuki Brush

Skin & Body: Chamomile Everyday Everywear 3oz tin

Blushes & Face Colors: Theme Park 2.5g

Skin & Body: Lavender Everyday Everywear 3oz tin

Makeup Brushes & Accessories: New 5 Flocked Sponge Pack 8 oz

Skin & Body: Cosmetic Wet Wipes 80 Wipes

Skin & Body: Rosemary, Basil, Lemongrass Cleansing Bar 3.2oz bar

Makeup Brushes & Accessories: Cosmetic Buds

Makeup Brushes & Accessories: Large Mixing Jar 8 oz

OK, I'd hate to see Donna carted off because she's been talking to herself :P !

I placed my order (and thank you, Donna, I probably would have taken my time mulling over what to do about a bronzer, but your post about the specials kinda helped me make my decision sooner!) and I decided to go with the Soft Bronzer and Summer Silk Dust. I figure if either of these are too dark I can always mix them with something lighter! That's the beauty of EM!! :D

dlp252 Apprentice

 !!!

The Summer Silk Dust would make an excellent bronzer I think, I may use it that way, but I may also try to lighten it a little bit.

dlp252 Apprentice

Oh, and just so you know, the specials page says 5% discount, but mine said 10% on the order summary, and I just noticed a thread on EM where a few people have posted that they also got 10%.

Hi Donna! I'm glad you are no longer talking to yourself!

Laura - Soft Bronzer is reeeaaallly light. I doubt it's too dark for any skin tone.

OMG did they discontinue Chit Chat? That is one of my favorites, and I only have a small sample size of it. I'm really liking Waffle Cone these days though.

and....Where is the new website? Wasn't March 15th supposed to be some sort of big day? Did I miss something?

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."
    • Scott Adams
Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
