Sorry to hear about the eczema Birdy. I hope you can find the items you can tolerate.

I am having a real problem with hairspray right now. I cannot find one that doesn't make me break out and my hair looks terrible with out it.

I get in a hurry and forget to tap all the time. I am trying to get where I can put my makeup on in 5 minutes like I used to. Right now it takes me at least 5 minutes just to get out all the little jars and brushes I need, lol.

I used one of the sample foundations for a couple of weeks I think. BUT, if your name is MANGO, you might not last that long. j/k Mango

It's true...I'm not gonna lie LOL. I have serious foundation overuse issues. :P

Has anyone else fell in love with a cetain foundation color and used it all up and re-ordered the same color? But when you use it, the color is nothing like it was the first time. I was in love with buttered tan and it matched perfect. Well yesterday I put on the new one I got and it mademe look orange and it was so ugly. I didnt notice til hours later tho. Since i got up early to go yard saling and to the park and i figured there was no reason to check in outside light lol. I am so upset over this.

Sorry to hear that, Birdy. :(

Paula, that hasn't happened to me, but I am still ordering only the sample kits.

I will say, though, that I really like sunkissed fair. It is my new favorite. I have not gone back to my old favorites because I never really had any. I really love how the EM makes my skin feel and that it doesn't feel like anything is on me. I'm interested to see how it feels in the heat of the summer.

I am still only ordering sample kits for foundation. I feel like it's too big of a commitment otherwise.

And, in the heat of summer...I haven't had the best experience. <_< It was about 100 degrees here a few days ago, and my make up was kinda gone after being out and about running errands. I was a little disappointed. Although, in EM's defense, any make up I have ever used has never lasted through heat like that.

I wonder though if those blotting papers would help?

ShadowSwallow Newbie

Thanks for the support, everyone.  At this point it's confined to my right cheek, and doing OCM every morning and night seems to be helping. :)

Dad's helping me go through my finances tonight! Apparently they're just a bit too much for my lymie brain to handle.:ph34r: So I'll be able to buy more makeup soon! :P

Kassandra, what formulation do you use for foundation? I'm naturally very greasy, but I've found that a mix of matte and intensive stays best. Intensive stays best in the short-term and matte in the long-term. The blotting papers do help (though I usually go through 3+ to get me unshiny  ).

Well, I haven't reordered full sizes yet, but the full sizes I ordered of my favorite samples seem to be the same color so far. I HAVE had that happen with blush though...and not necessarily from different jars either. One time I'll put it on and it looks one way, then the next time it will look different. I haven't fully figured out yet why that is. I thought it was because of the foundation shade I was wearing, but I don't think it is.

 Yeah, for a while there I could only handle the basic stuff...but I've got no one to help me, lol. Yay on more makeup!

Cheri,

I'm trying to experiment with silk dust and concealor as a primer when it's really hot. So far I've had varying degree of success with that--it DOES seem to help a little, but we had several days near 100 degrees recently and it didn't do so well. IN fairness though, NO foundation I've ever tried held up in really hot weather. My skin is "normal" I think with oily tendencies, so the heat really brings out the oiliness and things just slip right off my face. :P

I use intensive most of the time.

Yea, no foundation has ever really worked in 100 degree weather. It melts off your face, LOL!

:lol: Donna and Kassandra! Well, I live in Minnesota. It has been the longest winter in history. The thought of 100 degree temps makes me happy! Am I sick or what?

Is our little gluten free make up cult dying. I had to search for the thread lol.

I just wanted to say that i am in love with sunkissed fair, this is the perfect match that i have been looking for. I have gotten so many compliments the last few days. I really hope when i order another large size of it that the color will be the same lol. The only bad thing is i dont know how longi can keep pulling this color off cause i keep getting darker and darker from being out in the sun lol.

paula

Green12 Enthusiast

Paula, I've heard that we all need different color foundations with the changing of the seasons (darker for the summer months and lighter for when we aren't getting much sun), so that is pretty typical.

Sorry Birdy about your eczema, not fun at all :( I'm glad to hear though it improves slightly when you don't wear the make-up, at least in those times you don't have to experience a flair.

I wonder if you are reacting to the type of hair they use in the brushes?? It might be a matter of testing out different brushes with different hair sources........also I wonder if just some straight rice powder for a foundation would work for you??

ShadowSwallow Newbie

Actually, Julie, it seems that the makeup helps the flares. Which is at least one good thing. I can't use the flat-top brush, though, since it seems to irritate my skin. I'm still trying to find a balance... and I'm definitely going to be getting some of that rice powder.

My finances are all in order now, so now I have no reason not to order! :P:lol:

Hi, ladies! I haven't been on the forum for a week or two because things are really busy for me. Planting the garden and corraling the kids and new baby chicks for our chicken coop keeps me hopping! Can you ever forgive me, oh fellow makeup culties? Do you know our 6 month anniversary is coming up this week? I say we all take ourselves out to dinner and treat ourselves to some new makeup!

I see that EM has rolled over to the new website. Are they still having specials? I missed the last one (darn!), and I can't find a specials page on the new website. Their forum apears to be down for maintenance. Anybody have the inside scoop?

dlp252 Apprentice

Wow, I didn't even know they rolled over to the new site, lol. There ARE some new colors though...even since the last time I posted about them.

Looks like I'll have to venture over and take a look. (Okay, what that actually means is ORDER, lol).

I get that message that the boards are down all the time, but I just click again and it works.

Paula, are you my long lost twin?! We DO seem to be able to wear the same colors, lol!

Green12 Enthusiast

Oh yay, I clicked on the original link for EM and the new site did come up!

Took a look at the custom kits, I don't notice anything new or different. I thought the sample kits were going to be increased to 7 items??

Yard Sale I think is a new blush color, of course those with spread sheets will have to verify that :lol:

AndreaB Contributor

I think I noticed Friday that I couldn't get into the old site. I forget what day I tried now.

I still had some certificate errors but not the one that wouldn't let me into the site. I haven't tried again since.

No more money and I've got my last order so I'll be fine for awhile.......I think. :P

confused Community Regular

The 50 dollar kit is new. You can now get the prssed powder in them. I am going to order one of those kits asap, well as soon as I know if they are going to have a new special or not.I think after this kit, I will be done. I have no room in my case as it is. Im thinking of just taking out all the small sizes I have and jsut keep the big ones in the case.

paula

dlp252 Apprentice

Yes, Yard Sale is a new color, lol!

I've got a $50 kit and the personal mini kit in there. Filled the mini kit and am working on the $50 one now...think I just need a couple of more items, lol. Had a heck of a time earlier, but it all seems to be working well now.

Green12 Enthusiast

Did you get your order filled Donna?

I'm curious

Mango04 Enthusiast

I'm going to place an order tonight! (and it's currently "tonight" where I am :D:lol: )

Just thought I would announce that. LOL :P:lol:

dlp252 Apprentice

 Mango!

Julie, nope, never got the darned thing filled. I'm having all kinds of problems ordering. I can get the two kits filled, but for a while I couldn't get to my cart to actually order it. Then I got to the cart, but noticed they had my wrong billing address, so changed that to my home address, but then couldn't select a shipping choice and couldn't get past that screen.

I finally discovered that it had a problem with me using two different addresses, so I changed my shipping address to match my billing address...that worked and I got my shipping options, but standard DHL ground is $29.68!!!!!!! Heck, I can get overnight express for THAT much money, lol!!!

Then, everytime I navigate away from the site and go back later, the selection I have in the $50.00 disappear and I have to do it all over again...the personal mini kit items seem to remain. I haven't tried the old full size kit...maybe it's just the new kits that have problems.

So, I've sent them a few FEEDBACK entries, lol. I was really close to hitting the submit button this last time, but I just can't go for that $29.68 shipping charge...heck, that's HALF of my product cost, lol.

AndreaB Contributor

I wouldn't spend that for shipping ground either! :o

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay, yeah, they still got some bugs, lol!!!

So I deleted the full $50 kit, and just had the personal mini kit...order total was $18...the shipping on that was $14.50!!!

So just now I went back and put in a free sample kit and just a small size of a blush plus the personal mini kit. Order total came to $22 ish...Shipping was $20.83!

dlp252 Apprentice

Back again, lol! Well apparently they read all the feedback because the shipping thing was better, and they had a USPS option which was MUCH cheaper than the DHL which was still at $29.??. The USPS was $12.??, which is still higher than it used to be, but is in my range of acceptability, lol.

So I ordered

Super Personal Custom Kit (12 items)

Personal Mini Kit

Free sample kit

I'd gladly post what I ordered but they didn't break it down, lol. In the personal mini kit I'm getting samples of some of the new blushes and maybe some of the eyeshadows (who can remember--I filled this one two days ago, lol).

In the free sample kit I'm getting:

3 different formulations of the new Golden color

Yard Sale blush

Pearl Sunlight Concealor

In the Super Full kit I'm getting:

Lip glosses:

English Muffin

Soccer Practice

the white one

Blush:

Soft touch (which I love and only have a small size of)

Summer Stroll

Concealors:

all the rest of the pearl concealors, lol

Pressed powders:

Golden Fair

Yellow

The lavendar everyday everywear cream

Puff jar

dlp252 Apprentice

Okay, someone posted this on the forum on the old site...I have nooooo idea where they got it or anything, but they just posted it today AFTER I ordered, lol:

I agree, it so often overlooked! I live in the UK and I have often wondered why doctors are so reluctant to at least exclude it - my thoughts are perhaps the particular tests are expensive for the NHS, so therefore saved for people with 'obvious' symptoms.  I was diagnosed in 2013 and was told immediately that my parents, sibling and children should be checked.  My parents' GP to this day has not put forward my father for testing, and my mother was never tested in her lifetime, despite the fact that they both have some interesting symptoms/family history that reflect they might have coeliac disease (Dad - extreme bloating, and his Mum clearly had autoimmune issues, albeit undiagnosed as such; Mum - osteoporosis, anxiety).  I am now my father' legal guardian and suspecting my parents may have forgotten to ask their GP for a test (which is entirely possible!) I put it to his last GP that he ought to be tested.  He looked at Dad's blood results and purely because he was not anemic said he wasn't a coeliac.  Hopefully as the awareness of Coeliac Disease spreads among the general public, people will be able to advocate for themselves.  It is hard because in the UK the NHS is very stretched, but the fallout from not being diagnosed in a timely fashion will only cost the NHS more money. Interestingly, a complete aside, I met someone recently whose son was diagnosed (I think she said he was 8).  At a recent birthday party with 8 guests, 4 boys out of the 8 had received diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, which is an astounding statistic  As far as I know, though, they had all had obvious gastric symptoms leading to their NHS diagnosis.  In my own case I had  acute onset anxiety, hypnopompic hallucinations (vivid hallucinations upon waking),  odd liver function, anxiety, headaches, ulcers and low iron but it wasn't until the gastric symptoms hit me that a GP thought to do coeliac testing, and my numbers were through the roof.  As @trents says, by the grace of God I was diagnosed, and the diet has pretty much dealt with most of those symptoms.  I have much to be grateful for. @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

@EndlessSummer, You said you had an allergy to trees.  People with Birch Allergy can react to green beans (in the legume family) and other vegetables, as well as some fruits.  Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease.   Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of the extra histamine the body makes with Celiac disease and histamine consumed in the diet.   Vitamin C and the eight B vitamins are needed to help the body clear histamine.   Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?

I found out the age of 68 that I am a celiac. When I was 16, I had my gallbladder removed when I was 24 I was put on a medication because I was told I had fibromyalgia.   going to Doctor’s over many years, not one of them thought to check me out for celiac disease. I am aware that it only started being tested by bloodwork I believe in the late 90s, but still I’m kind of confused why my gallbladder my joint pain flatulent that I complained of constantly was totally ignored. Is it not something that is taught to our medical system? It wasn’t a Doctor Who asked for the test to be done. I asked for it because of something I had read and my test came back positive. My number was quite high. Are there other people out here that had this kind of problems and they were ignored?
