Has anyone else had this? It does not itch but the redness on feet, thighs, knees eventully subsides. The redness on nose, face, hands just fades a little but is always there.

I don't have this problem, but maybe you're using soap that contains gluten? It might be irritating your skin. Or maybe you're just using really hot water that's drying out your skin in the winter months.

OOHHHHH Me ME ME !!

I don't have it on my feet or knees but on my face, upper chest, and neck. Just a red rash sometimes raised usually just flat, itchy or not, comes and goes. I thought for years that it was due to my hair products or special body soaps as it seemed to correlate to using a new product. Then it seemed to happen whenever i would get really sick with a fever. THen it happened after being gluten free dairy free for about 2 weeks after I ate a gluten-free cheese supreme pizza (pizza has to have cheese!). I thought we were perhaps just lactose intolerant and cheese on my pizza would maybe upset my tummy but be worth the taste of real cheese. My dear hubby made the connection between the rash and the gluten-free cheese pizza I had the night before the rash appeared. I made the connection that every time I am sick, I live on cereal and milk (normally don't do a lot of dairy) . Now we are guessing that just perhaps it is a problem with dairy. I'm staying off of dairy at least until the end of the month when the kids have pizza event at church and then I will try the dairy and see if the rash comes back.

Any correlation to dairy???

It seems to be only related to showering or heat. It is not raised and does not itch. It is like the redness you get after having crossed your legs and there is a red mark left form the pressure.

I too have a facial red rash around my nose and chin. I've had it for over 2 years now. It's mostly a flushing that will get darker with red wine and big temperature changes. It also doesn't itch. I think it may be Rosacea which is connected to Celiac. I've only been gluten free for a little over a month but I'm hoping as time goes on it will get better. Mine is only on my face but my daughter will get the redness on her chest after a hot shower that usually fades within an hour. Maybe others can give you more info.

Does it usually go away after 10-20 minutes? I get that, always have. I always thought it was normal, lol.

It has only happened to me for the last year and a half after I got sick.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
