Food Allergies?

OK..has anyone here figured out they were allergic to something or couldn't tolerate it very well from these symptoms..hard to swollow..almost like a lump in the throat. Getting a sore throat after eating something. Getting very 'flemmy' in the throat if you will..after eating something. Getting a cough after eating something. Could be either dry or flemmy depending on what it was. The sore throat always seems to be there from either irritation or coughing. Or..not so much red ears..but ears itching on the inside. Some of these things can happen on their own or all at once.

Yep, the symptoms you described sound like allergic reactions. Do you see a pattern connected with certain foods you eat or environmental conditions?

I get an itchy throat with some of my allergic foods (squash, mango and some mystery one that I've reacted to but we've never been able to identify) then I get a massive rash around my mouth! I think this may also be a sign of developing a new allergy, as recently I have been getting this after eating peanuts...so I've been going easy on those.

But yes, that does sound allergic. Tell your doctor- they may want you to carry an epipen in case it escalates to the point where your throat closes, and they'll want to do allergy testing.

All of this figuring out and taking control is pretty new to me so I am still learning and figuring. I just always thought a lot of it was related to allergies and sinuses..yet I am learning maybe the reverse to be true where maybe it's the food causing the problems.

Anyway..as I am trying to learn and eat things on their own so I can isolate..I do get 'flemmy' in the throat after eating dairy prodcuts. Any dairy products..but I don't think I have noticed other symptoms than that from the dairy..but it's hard to tell when you feel crummy all the time anyway.

Ice cream seems to be the worse..but I have been cutting dairy too now.

Nuts would make me a big flemmy too..and a bit hard to swollow..but I just fugured as far as the swollowing it was because they were dry. I never had any outer symptoms from the nuts or rashes or anything.

It seems so many times when I read about 'allergies' that people have so many outer symptoms too.

I am going to cut nuts out for now too.

I have never had any 'outer' symptoms. It was always more like hard to swollow when eating a tuna sandwich. I just thought that with my acid reflux or gerd stuff that it was hard to swollow the bread or the tuna was dry..didn't use much mayo..or was it the soy in the mayo and tuna. I am just finding out now that 'water' in tuna actually can mean 'soy'

So now I have obviously cutt everything to do with gluten. I am cutting all dairy. I am cutting all soy..making sure fish in cans is the best and in just water. I can't have a lot of protein anyway. Cutting soy I obviously have to cut my Silk Soy Milk that I would put on my healthy gluten cereal..lol..plus I just read that Silk puts something in their products that actually isn't good for the digestive tract. Unreal..you think you are eating 'healthy' then keep finding out more and more things.

From what I understand..cut out what I know for sure I shouldn't have. Then cut out what I 'think' is causing trouble..then later slowly add them back on their own and see what happens.

There's already a lot of stuff I have found out I can't or shouldn't be having..so won't be to bad.

I need to be gluten free,no sugar at all so even no fruit/high glycemic index veggies, rice, beans, have to watch my protein intake.

It's amazing the more you learn daily from reading things on the web and reading labels. You always here about staying away from processed foods and now I really see why. They not only contain so many things that are bad for us, but hidden things and things you wouldn't think of. When I first thought of cutting dairy..at first I didn't think to look at my supplements for instance.

Guess I will be eating lots of greens and protein in moderation.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
