Hi all,

I'm going to be in Miami for a week and need some suggestions about where to eat....this is my first trip since starting the diet and I'm a little scared...

Thanks!

I'm not from Miami, but I'll take a stab anyway. :)

Fast Casual (TGI Fridays, Chili's, etc.) in general is very challenging. Usually if you ask a server if s/he is familiar with gluten the response is something like 'Is that a type of sugar?" Since they tend not to have a national supply chain their websites can offer little and it all depends upon the manager on duty. One exception is Outback and the other properties owned by Outback (check the website). They are VERY gluten friendly places to eat. My son works as TGI Friday's and this unit has a listing of every single thing they have in the kitchen and all the ingredients. You could not look up the BBQ Ribs, but you could check the meat and then the sauce. Took me a bit, but I found things to eat. :)

My experience in "table cloth" restaurants (restaurants with a chef) is very good. I can probably count on one hand how many times I have been to a restaurant with a chef where they were not very knowledgeable about gluten-free. It may be my imagination, but I think chefs are starting to make things gluten-free as much as they can. It seems to be more and more common that with the exception of obvious foods, many things are prepared gluten-free to begin with. I was even at one restaurant where the popovers were made with rice flour and on my menu.

I am also going to Miami soon and have been looking this up

There is a Pizza Fusion - that has gluten free crust

And Lifefood Gourmet - raw place so most if not all is gluten free

both have websites to look at

Awesome. Thanks for your posts. I'm leaving tomorrow and I've already looked up the location of the nearest Whole Foods. :)

Have a good trip Janessa and Happy New Year to you both!

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Same day which is strange to me.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
