Moving!

I am expecting to move to Cape Cod in the very near future, and am wondering of any one out there can recommend a good store, bakery, restaurants etc?

This will be a huge adventure, and anything we can have in place before hand would be a HUGE load off my mind.

Thanks all.

Hi Ryan!!! How have you been??? Busy, I guess, since you've got a big move ahead of you!!!

I have no answers for you, but Bev (Mtndog) visits there, I bet she might have some info for you.

Good luck with the move. Drop in on the silly thread!! (Edit: Aaaaaaa . . . I see you've already been there :P )

Hi Ryan and an early welcome to the US!

Janet beat me to it. Bev (Mtndog) is familiar with those parts. Cape Cod, a hardship post, no doubt :P . Boston Center?

Ryan!! How exciting. I'm sure Bev, among others, will pop in with the gluten-free scoop on the Cape.

Belated Happy Birthday, too :D

Hi Ryan, for the bakery stuff, there is a bakery called good juju bakery. the website is www.goodjujubakery.com

the lady who owns it is judith mann, a nurse and celiac as well. she sells her stuff in tons of stores down there and she also has it delivered to your house. I have never had anything bad from there. you can look on her website and it tells you what stores she sells. her cupcakes are to die for. also there is a place called bz mexican pizzeria

Open Original Shared Link the first time i went there i ordered two pizza's because i couldn't decide and it reheats really well, they actually get their pizza crust from good juju bakery. then you have your regular standard rest, like outback etc. good luck, make sure you try the pizza....

Oh Ryan- So excited for you! Just in time for spring/summer- most beautiful place around! Do you know what town on the Cape?

Finallydiagnosed said exactly what I was going to say- BZ's Pizza. People literally call and order like 10 pizzas to bring home and freeze. They also have Mexican food. And on the next street corner is a health food store (Dennisport) that has a lot of gluten-free items.

Pizzeria Uno (a chain) now has gluten-free pizza too.

Depending on where you are moving, I may have some other suggestions.

Shaw's supermarket (I think there's one mid-Cape and another in Falmouth) usually has gluten-free food in their health-food/organic section.

Let me know what else you need! The Cape will be great!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
