Any One Else Having Good Luck With 5 Guys?

hello all,

after i saw that 5 guys says on their site that everything but the bun is gluten-free so i decided to give it a try again (had not eaten there since before i went gluten-free). first time i went in and ordered w/o a bun the manager came over and asked me if it was cause of a food allergy, i said ya and they made sure to keep it off of the counter where the burgers with buns are made (even though it is done on foil always), they changed gloves pretty well and took every precaution they could to keep gluten away in a mixed kitchen. second time i went in the guy at the register asked me right away and made sure the people working the line knew and it was great again, i noticed they even put down a paper towel on the area they worked that is away from the buns.

this may not be good enough for those that are extremely sensitive but im not the highest tolerance celiac and it seems that im not getting glutened (my stomach bothered me the next morning but i think it was something else since usually getting glutened for me sets my gi off in 2-3 hours tops).

so just wanted to see if anyone was having similar experiences and wanted to let those that havent tried it to see how their 5guys is if they have one near them.

-matt

I ate out at a 5 Guys in Chattanooga--burger sans bun plus fries and had no problem. LOVE their fries, and it's nice not to worry about breaded food items ccing the fries in the fryer. I still have to try one locally.

We've eaten there several time with problems. The counter person always asks if it's an allergy and then they change gloves.

Love those fries!

I've only eaten at 5 Guys once, two years ago. Had no problems. I'm still drooling just thinking about their food. Wish they were here in the Midwest.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
