Hi everyone

A recent Open Original Shared Link show discussed GMO foods, and the health risks thereof. The implications are staggering. Some of the problems GMOs are already causing involve the immune system, intestines, and other organs. It is the intestinal damage which really got me wondering, if it might be possible that some people are being diagnosed with Celiac Disease due to ingestion of GMO foods. Or, if GMOs may be hindering full recovery.

Here are just a few of numerous articles on the subject:

Thanks, RiceGuy, for providing this scary information. Certainly reinforces the removal of soy, corn and canola from my pantry.

I also consider the GMO foods to be well..not such a good idea. All we can do is try to avoid them as much as humanly possible.

That's scary stuff. You had my hunting down non-GMO corn chips at the grocery store yesterday.

Fortunately, when a product is certified organic, it is also non-GMO. However, it is not true the other way around. That is, a non-GMO product is not necessarily organic.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
