Chebe-Who Uses It And What Do You Make?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chebe. I buy the regular all purpose mix on Amazon all the time. Here are some things I use it for.

One package makes 5 rolls. Perfect for my family of 5! I have used it to make hamburgers and they are fantastic! My entire family loves them. It only takes me 2 minutes now to whip up a batch and have them in the oven. I also use the same rolls for a french dip. It's so good I can't stand it. I cook a roast with gluten free onion soup mix all day in the crock pot, then shred up the meat and pour the sauce into a serving container. We put the shredded meat on the chebe rolls and dip in the au jus. Sometimes I add more seasonings or cheese to the sandwich. They are good with pepperoncini peppers!

We also use these rolls for plain ol sandwiches with meat and cheese and lettuce, etc.

I take the same mix and instead of 5 round rolls, I roll them out like hot dog buns and bake the same. These are GREAT with a hot dog, covered in chili and cheese and eaten with a fork. YUM!

Now my FAVORITE thing to do with Chebe is make flour tortillas! The recipe is on the bag. When I do these I use 2 bags because 1 isn't enough for my family (2 bags makes me about 12 flour tortillas). I make a big pot of refried beans from scratch in my crock pot. Then I make the homemade "flour" tortillas with the Chebe, and cook them on a dry skillet until lightly browned on each side. Then, put them on a plate and cover with a sheet of plastic wrap. I think this is important because it keeps them soft and pliable. Just keep adding the next hot tortilla to the top of the stack and re-cover with the wrap. When all done, we fill them with beans and shredded cheese, roll up, and wrap in a piece of foil. They keep really well like this! Sometimes I take 10 of them in a cooler to one of my sons sporting events and we eat them all. But if I leave a few burritos at home, in the fridge, they can be rewarmed the next day and are still good. However, I have tried just leaving the tortilla plain in a ziplock baggy and trying to fill with beans the next day and that did NOT work out well. These taste just like an indian fry bread with beans and cheese I would get at the fair in Arizona as a child. We just LOVE them.

I haven't tried it as pizza crust yet, because I also bought a box of another brand on amazon and want to use that up first, but I am sure I'll like it. I am already on my 3rd box of Chebe from Amazon though. They make a 'chewier' roll than something like a regular cheapo hamburger bun, but I really like them the way they are. It's probably my favorite gluten free product, along with Tinkyada.

Do you all have any ways you use Chebe that you could share?

Man...now I want to try the dry mix. We've had the rolls, pizza, and breadsticks. My sons LOVE the rolls but the pizza and breadsticks were a little disappointing. The pizza was way tiny... but tiny. The breadsticks were good but they are so thin that my young boys didn't like them as much because they were harder to eat. My hubby would LOVE it if I could find him a suitable flour tortilla replacement and this sounds like it may be it. Thanks!

My husband and 2 of my sons don't have to eat gluten free, but we have a gluten free household now. They ALL love the chebe. I have never tried any pre-made chebe, only the dry mixes, so all my comments are about that. I've found that Amazon is the best price if it's something you will actually use. For pizza, I plan on just using the regular all purpose dry mix and adding some herbs and then if I dont make it in the oven, I can even grill it!

Nice! Thanks I will definitely try the dry mix because I do like the flavor and texture. My 2yo son is the only one in our household currently officially diagnosed Celiac but our household is gluten-free. I suspect hubby has it but he never got tested. We just figured we might as well ALL go gluten-free so at least we all eat the came and not worry about CC.

I use to love to eat hot pockets for a quick lunch meal. Can you make those with Chebe? I'm kinda new to all this stuff, can anyone describe what the taste is like?

Thanks

Frances03 Enthusiast

OH yeah, you can make hot pockets! The package says to prepare you add 2 tbsp oil or margarine, 2 eggs and 5 tbsp milk. (you can sub milk sub or water). Then you can make:

Rolls/Biscuits/Breadsticks

6 inch sub

Doggie Wraps (like a hot dog with the dough wrapped around it and baked)

Calzones (this would be like a hot pocket. You just roll out the dough, fill with your filling, fold and crimp, then bake)

Fruit Turnovers

Tortillas/Wraps

Soup Bowl

Chocolate Biscuits (oooo that sounds good)

Then also you can make pizza crust, dumplings, pierogies, sticky buns-recipes on their website.

The taste/texture, is sort of like a chewy sandwich roll, OH, like the sandwich bread at Schlotzky's. Or kind of english muffin like, it does get crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. But when I roll for tortillas it's not like that, it's more like Indian Fry Bread. The taste is mild, I dont just eat it PLAIN though, I am usually making something to go with it. We did try breadsticks once and they were really good dipped in pizza sauce!

One more thing to add. I just recently used Chebe to make a Schlotzsky's sandwich!! WOW! Bake the chebe in to 5 rolls. Slice them all in half. Top one half with a slice of provolone cheese. Top the other half with some ham, salami and pepperoni. Place in hot oven until warm and cheese is melted. Remove. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, sliced red onion, black olives. Serve with Frank's Red Hot Sauce and pepperoncini peppers. I am IN LOVE. It's just like my pre-gluten-free days eating at Schlotzsky's!!!

Aww, I was all excited until I read the ingredients and saw that it was mostly tapioca flour. Tapioca and I don't always play nice together, especially in large doses (hence the reason I do my from-scratch baking with potato or arrowroot starch instead of tapioca). I won't hesitate to suggest it to others, though, not with that ringing endorsement.

I am another Chebe enthusiast! For Easter I had the whole family (grown children, spouses, little ones) for dinner and served Chebe rolls with the meal. I didn't say they were anything special and everybody loved them and wanted to know where they could get those great rolls. I was so tickled to tell that they were gluten free!!!!

Thanks for the info on other ways to use the bread. I will definitely try some pocket type sandwhiches.

I've seen it in King Soopers in Colorado. I haven't been to Arizona in over 10 years so I can't say ;) I just buy it on Amazon, but I bet you can find it at a store there to try it!

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
